Oh woop, I could probably use the bad reading rating All you'd need to do though is rework the experience system and make it so each quest gives you significantly less XP.
Too much work to do anything you've said effectively, especially with the team being understaffed already. Funny how its easier said than done with Gamebryo at the helm.
Or conversely, you'd make the starting area in New Vegas more challenging from the start. It wouldn't really be fair to suddenly have all your leveling reset especially since you're meant to be able to travel back and forth, and players would feel kind of cheated
TTW stated they'd never edit FONV at all except to add the connection between DC and NV. All in all... This is a very difficult problem with the resources the TTW team have, and I don't think they even know that this is a problem. It's really easy to get burned out on this game. Hell, even setting the global XP modifier down doesn't truly fix this problem, as FO3 gives different amount of XP per quest than NV does, so they'd have to make sure that the games and DLC included give you enough to get to level 50. And that's not even accounting areas that are leveled for 15-20 and higher. New Vegas's system was that level 15-20 was just half-way through the game, but that was endgame for FO3. So then the FO3 areas have hard as balls bullet-spongey enemies (especially because of the bad DR to DT conversions the TTW team did, which I don't really blame them). But New Vegas would still be sort of a cake walk. And with the ridiculous damages that FO3 guns do, no doubt thanks to the high DR that Beth gave all endgame enemies in FO3, NV would be piss easy. (I'm looking at you, Alien Atomizers) TL;DR: It is not as easy as you think or say it is. There would be a lot of rethinking and redesigning the entirety of FO3 (which to mention, is larger than NV) to accommodate the combination to prevent players from reaching 50 in FO3 before they hit the Strip. But there is not time nor resources that the TTW team has to accomplish any of this :c.

I really didn't mean to imply I thought it was an easy thing to do, cuz I know it isn't and it'd require a lot of work to rebalance the whole game. What I meant it as is that if they WERE to actually go out of their way to fix the balance and make it so you didnt get overleveled in NV, that'd be how they'd have to do it

It seemed like you were implying how easy it was because of the way you worded it. Threw me for a loop. But yeah, I wish they had the resources to go through with some idea to make the game last longer with the two being merged.

I phrased it horribly Really wish they had the resources too for it cuz TTW is one of the best ways to play Fallout right now
Wouldn't a global XP reduction help the problem with minimal effort though? Anyhow, I've got errors I need help with shown here: [t]http://files.1337upload.net/2014-11-16_00040-16f8c6.jpg[/t] Textures are bugged on a lot of weapons and items and most particles are blocky. List of plugins I have, errors probably caused by EVE since the only content affected seems to be from it On another note, what the hell is this thing, looks like it belongs in Super Mario RPG and not Fallout. That should fix it. That is a bobomb or something and it's an easter egg weapon.
[t]http://files.1337upload.net/bobomb-636d41.jpg[/t]
Annoying item added by Energy Weapons Enhanced, as I recall. [sp]i just started disabling them every time i found one[/sp]
Disable archive invalidation, start up the game and load up a save, then quit and re-enable AI again. That should fix it.
Did that, errors persist and now the game crashes within a couple of seconds of loading a save. So all it did was make the game unplayable.
Wow you must play some really shit video games
Most games barely have a story. Actual story telling in games beyond simplistic "evil doers kidnap girlfriend" has only been around for maybe half of gaming's lifespan, and even then a lot of companies today still have garbage story, either on purpose (like for something like Mario where the story isn't important) or because of laziness (like many Call of Duty titles because they just didn't care) I can safely say Bethesda's writing is a cut above that drivel. It isn't great, and in any other medium it would be quite shit by comparison, but since we have nothing but other games to compare it too, it isn't that bad.
Most games barely have a story.

Wow you must play some really shit video games
Like really, there's games I've played through in a single session just because I wanted to know what was next. Actually, that's a lie, I don't have that kind of free time. But the sessions were few in comparison to other games I played the singleplayer parts of that were less than stellar.
"Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important."
Games do not really need stories but I'd contend that neither do most comic books, music, movies, or even books themselves. Really, it comes back to what the creators envisioned and if what you envision is a fun ride that really entertains the hell out of people, you only need enough story to draw them in and that is about it. Think of some beloved movies like Friday the 13th or Commando, they have almost no real story but its the ride that is awesome. [editline]18th November 2014[/editline] But really if we're going to argue about Fallout 3, I definitely think it has flaws and some of its writing is a bit heavy-handed but I really don't think its fair to consider it pretty weak or even outright bad. I don't really know. There is way too many factors there and it just kind of turns into a subjective soup.
So I had a... interesting... glitch where, in Bootjack Cavern (the one with the fire geckos, I was there on the "Bleed Me Dry" quest) EVERY fire gecko was replaced with a "Desert Ranger". Permanently hostile, wearing what appeared to be standard ranger clothes, carrying Trail Carbines and Hunting Shotguns and all with absurd amounts of health (A good 1000 or more, I'd wager. It was about a full mag from the .45 SMG for each of them) Honestly I think the fire-geckos would have been easier to deal with
Did you kill them in the end?
Massacred. Grunt + Tommygun = Nuts DPS. They had absolutely no DT, just lots of health. There was ~30 of them total, but each of them was considerate enough to drop a stimpack.
were they all ncr aligned or no? if so say hi to the hitsquads tia

Or he was wearing faction armor. I made that mistaken when I was paladin armor and ran into a squad of NCR troops.
What are some good graphical mods for New Vegas?
What are some good graphical mods for New Vegas?
Dusty Distances is a subtle change, but looks really cool (and hides the horribad LOD's to an extent) There's also EVE, it looks pretty cool but I haven't used it personally (mostly because I don't have access to my gaming pc right now)
What are some good graphical mods for New Vegas?
NMC's texture pack.
Anyone see this mod called Fallout Lonestar? It takes place in texas and the concept art looks radical. http://falloutmagnifico.com/
Anyone see this mod called Fallout Lonestar? It takes place in texas and the concept art looks radical. http://falloutmagnifico.com/

FYI, the project's all smoke and mirrors. Me and a friend were part of the team early on after it became a thing (I was a mapper, he was the lead designer.) but then there was tension between him and the project lead because he was questioning some of their creative choices; the plot's basically just The Magnificent Seven with an ersatz NCR-Legion conflict and the team was just obsessed with making every character a woman if possible for the sake of being 'progressive'. One day he decided to vent some frustrations about the issues with the project to the editor in confidence, who proceeded to snitch the entire conversation to the project lead. Despite it being actual critique, my friend for the boot for asking questions. Of course, since he was the lead designer, this kinda fucked over the rate of progress they were making with fleshing out the project (Meanwhile the editor got promoted to manager as a reward for telling.) You know what's funny? The single map I made is probably the only ingame thing related to this project that's been made since 2013 when it started. It's all just concept art and scenarios - nice looking concepts, yeah - but there hasn't been a single game asset made yet. The project lead got a tad pissy when my friend called him out on that and said he was gonna go to the GECK right away to make something... which he never did. I don't even know if it's supposed to be a NV mod or a standalone game and I don't even know what engine it'd be on. That's not even mentioning their honestly disrespectful attitude with people with actual technical skills. They just expect people who can map, code, script etc to just work and do everything they say with zero input - I couldn't even get into an involved discussion about they wanted when I joined to map for them, they just dumped a google doc of concepts of me to go copy off. One of the guys in the team who was getting treated like this tried contacting my friend after he got kicked to get his side of the story. The team heard about this and kicked that guy too. They're basically riding off the fact they've got Avellone's 'blessing' and they're trying so, so hard to look like legitimate game developers. I'm not sure what to think at this point but I'm really not gonna be impressed with anything they do until we see an actual game come out of it, even if it's just a bunch of shitty model renders or a super WIP map.

"Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important."
Just because an intelligent man can say something doesn't mean what comes out is equally as intelligent, or y'know, modern.
Well crap. I really wanted to see this get released. My hopes are gone..
What mod do I get to make the characters not look like shit?
What mod do I get to make the characters not look like shit?
Fallout Character Overhaul is pretty nice
Fallout Character Overhaul is pretty nice
It's hidden :c
It's hidden :c
Until that comes back up you could use this: [t]http://static-4.nexusmods.com/15/mods/130/images/39325-2-1351049128.jpg[/t] http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39325/? or This: [t]http://static-4.nexusmods.com/15/mods/130/images/39218-1-1293879562.jpg[/t] http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39218/? Both just try to improve the face structure and coloring of some npcs without replacing too many textures or meshes.
It's hidden :c
I could send it to you, I've got it.
