I sort of wish they could get away with some of the fallout 2 stuff, like being a pornstar. Obviously, don't show anything (they already let you get fisted by a robot in fonv), but make it so thats an interesting way to get money. Could even have a sex skill you have to max out or some shit, and offer perks for it. Lets be honest, fo2 was a great game, but the best feature was naming myself "BIG DICK TYRONE" and being the best pornstar. [editline]29th November 2014[/editline] Btw, I've played so much FONV but I never actually beat the game or went fully on one side. I'm trying to get the NCR ending right now and [sp]Boone lets you get to new vegas without paying anything, going through freeside, or walking as far? Damn. [/sp]
He can also become a Congressman and/or President I think?
oh yeah I think that's when you go independent
Battle of Hoover Dam really should have had a fuckton of enemy legionaries running at you. I expected something like the intense fighting when you are last person in KF.
Gamebryo. It was never going to happen.
oh yeah I think that's when you go independent
I think it just depends on conversation choices
Welp, I just finished New Vegas for the first time since buying it in 2010.
Oh man, I just realized I've never beaten it. There's just so much extra content in the game that the main storyline is always really not that important to me, and I never finish it because I get burnt out after three weeks straight.

The Battle of Hoover Dam is pretty lame, there's plenty of things I feel I need to do in Skyrim before Alduin and I never get to them all, Oblivion's main quest bores me early on, and I haven't played Morrowind much yet and I don't know where to explore and goof off for 100 hours. Fallout 3, for all its faults, gave me a reason to head for Dad rather than screw off in the other direction, and then gave us the ability to continue after the end so that was less of a bad thing.
i feel the same way
and then gave us the ability to continue after the end
Actually, mods did that.
Actually, mods did that.
Broken Steel isn't a mod.
Broken Steel isn't a mod.
Ah, wasn't aware of that. It being in DLC instead of a patch is bullshit, though.
Ah, wasn't aware of that. It being in DLC instead of a patch is bullshit, though.
Their reasoning for Fallout games just ending is that they wanted the player's actions to have lasting effects, but if they simply let you keep playing they couldn't depict them. Broken Steel adds what happens afterwards, it would be weird otherwise. also it's traditional for fallout games to just end so bethesda actually tried to be true to the originals there and no one liked it
Doesn't New Vegas do the same thing though?
If you mean just ends, yes, and I don't like it, nor do plenty of other people. Disadvantage of sticking much closer to the original games, unfortunately.
damn i don't remember gibs looking this good, i don't remember seeing the spine like that you got a gore mod running or something boi
That's default. And it looks sorta awful.
damn i don't remember gibs looking this good, i don't remember seeing the spine like that you got a gore mod running or something boi
the wonders of bloody mess if only using explosives without that perk would give the same results
Doesn't New Vegas do the same thing though?
It's kind of a catch 22 situation honestly If you add stuff at the end that lets you keep playing, it can kind of invalidate what your choices meant (I'm mainly speaking for Fallout 3 cuz the whole sacrifice ending literally has no meaning if you just wake up 2 weeks later) and game devs rarely are gonna get the chance to add enough post game shit to make your choices matter. This is why Broken Steel was a DLC though cuz it basically was an addon, it didn't just let you keep playing. Added lots of new stuff. But this is also why we didn't get that kind of thing in New Vegas, they didn't have nearly enough time to do it. They opted instead for making DLC's that'd enhance the story leading up the finale, which I really like too. It still sucks for a lot of people though since you rarely are gonna go out of your way to do every side quest you wanna do before ending the game. Plus with how many variables NV's ending has over 3, it'd take a shit ton of content to really make the effects stand out I mean if you let the Legion take over the Mojave you're not really gonna be able to do most of the stuff you were able to before, for example
So I have been working on my Freeside House plugin. I transformed the office room into a mini garden. Now I'm thinking of scrapping that idea and moving the garden to a basement. Which in turn I would create. I also improved lighting and shadows. Replace dim blue lights with warm orange lights. Right now the mutfruit and potatoes will regrow in 3 days. One thing I had a lot trouble with was the activator(s) and physics took about a day for me to scrap the idea. I went with a static object and an activator and scripted the rest.
If you don't want to end the game why don't you just make a save right before you go through the point of no return? Then play the ending and reload that save if you want to do more. I did that with Fallout 3 and NV and it worked out just fine.

Everything seemed hollow after that.
Anyone got a really good story driven mod? I wanna get into Fo:NV again. I have tale of two wastelands and a hundred thousand other mods, lemme see what I have.

When the game doesn't end I always feel like the ending is just, less impactful, yknow?

So I've just started my first play through of Fallout New Vegas, ever. Are there any recommended mods that don't change much for a vanilla play through? Mostly just graphics mods, and subtle changes, things that won't make the game crash an assload.
