Ghost confirmed for ghost
Hey guys, I've been having trouble with Fallout 3 lately. I haven't played it in years and felt like playing again so I downloaded mod manager, FOSE, and a butt-ton of mods and started playing. It has a huge crashing problem though. It crashes when entering new areas a lot, it crashes every 10 minutes or so, and certain metros are simply unvisitable because they just crash as soon as I try to enter them. I've tried every fix known to man after reading tons of fixes on the web. Stuff like core issues, running in compatibility, corrupt saves, etc. I've tried everything and it still crashes enough to completely kill my desire to play. Does anyone know of any fix that I might not have run into that could solve the problem or is it possibly from too many mods?

Have you set up a bash patch? Also, despite compatability patches, some mod combinations will still totally fuck your game up.

It's just a mod that adds farting sounds to the brahmin. No images so it won't scar you.
Lemme tell you a story about my most memorable FO2 experience. 2 game corruptions ago.
I was attacking the Slavers Guild, and had Marcus and a couple of others with me. Marcus had a flame thrower and was set to Charge!
I ran in front of him when I thought he would walk around me to light the slavers up. He put the flame thrower away and pulled out a M60.
I had looted off the M60 in a Bootlegger encounter and decided to give Marcus it so I could save up on space. I thought it was a ordinary gun and didn't know that he could use it until me and the 3 slavers in front of me were killed in a barrage of bullets. I had difficulty getting my shit together from laughing so hard because the death was both unexpected and ludicrously brutal.
Afterwards, I realized that the weapon fared pretty well in Marcus' hands until I found a proper energy weapon for him.
Okay seriously, is it impossible to sneak past the Nightkin in "Come Fly With Me"? Even moving slowly with a stealth boy they go all *BZZT* and smash me to death with a rebar club.
I'm probably just going to exterminate Davison and the rest of the muties this time. Never had this problem before.
Is there a reliable way of backing up NV mods and/or the entire directory in general? I want to be able to back up all my mods and saves, uninstall the game, then be able to reinstall it later with my mods and pick up in the game where I last left off.

If you're not already using Mod Organizer, you should find a way to reinstall them with MO, and make a separate profile or something.
i think he shape shifted into a weapon

Actually I think it's more like euro truck simulator but instead of a truck you're a brahmin, and the farts are for if you get attacked

so I've noticed that some npcs seem to have this.. thing hanging off of them. It seems to be part of their model, it moves with them and floats next to them. The one in the image was hanging off of the chairman there. None of the other chairmen had this thing, and the guy wasn't a special chairman or anything. I've noticed it on other characters too, most recently hanging off of Niner, although it was black with a green coloured top.
It has the same model as the fission battery but I got no idea what it is, what mod has caused it (assuming its a mod). It also only appears when your character model is fairly far away, if you go up close it'll just vanish.

there should be a mod that makes the enclave come back
there should be a mod that makes the enclave come back
There was one mod a few years back that I made that allows you to join Doc Mitchell's quest to take over New Vegas with the Enclave. I gave up on the mod after failing to copy the New Vegas Worldspace into a new ESP. It was a joke mod, and I was learning how to use the GECK.

Would rather not have that happen. Maybe because I like the game to be canon lore-wise. Or maybe I want a fair game and not get decimated by lasers and plasma bolts in a specific part of the map. Or maybe I don't want them to be ridiculously underpowered like in FO3 and you can snag a few thousand caps from their armor.

i just think it's sad that the entire enclave was basically destroyed in fo3
like, the ncr stretches across a few states and the bos stretches across the entire nation.
why in the hell would the enclave be pretty much entirely based in dc?

There was a West Coast Enclave along with an East Coast so not the entire force was based in DC. And the other Brotherhoods were more or else splinter groups and were independent from the OG West Coast BoS, so the BoS technically wasn't "spread across the entire nation" since they weren't even all the same faction

IIRC there's an Enclave group in Chicago, though idk if that's still around.
The NCR is also spread thin as it is, their grasp over the region is tenuous.

right
my point being that there should be enclave folks to fight or join in new vegas, and there wasn't.
who knows, maybe obsidian had planned to add them but got rushed so they cut it out?
I think chief hanlon alludes to there being an enclave presence in Baja. He mentions that the veteran rangers are "off in Baja chasing ghosts" or something like that.
Few threats would warrant having all the desert rangers in baja, likewise he doesn't just come out and say 'brotherhood" even though the brotherhood wars are common knowledge in NCR, whereas the campaigns to wipe out the Enclave remnants are a bit more secretive in nature.

Well there were the Remnants but that's about it. Tbh if they went anywhere past the Remnants then the Enclave would feel really hamfisted and Obsidian would probably get a lot of flak from fans (NMM would turn into a lynch mob)
Honestly, the Enclave should just be done and buried. It was pretty much annihilated at the end of Fallout 2, and Bethesda just brought them back because they're majorly lacking in original ideas. And then they were destroyed again.
The Remnants seem to be the last major presence they have and it should stay that way.
I have plans for a mod that would add a large underground network with the main inhabitants being a large enclave remnant. Most being young adults and old men trying to survive within a cumming bunker with few resources and between a large amount of death claws lead by a few intelligent ones and a mix euro tribe made of dissidents from a nearby vault force. With option of joining any one of them, of course most of this is just plans but having alot of free time does help.
I do miss the enclave in the sense that there's simply nothing as challenging or scary in any of the Fallout games (3 included, since the enclave were shit in it)
Like fighting enclave troopers was the ultimate challenge in Fallout 2, vastly surpassing the difficulty of fighting Tough deathclaws and Centaurs/Floaters. There's simply no enemies in New Vegas that have the sheer face-melting destructive capacity that enclave troopers had in Fallout 2. Bumping into an enclave squad in Fallout 2 was always a panic moment if you were anything short of level 20, w/ awesome weapons and armor
