zeta was tough for me because I thought the alien zappy rifle was semi-auto and shot it like that the entire time instead of full-auto
I've never played 1 and 2, I was too young for it's time. But with everything else about 3 and NV, the aliens were extremely out of place.
that's somewhat the point, here you are going through this crazy wasteland and yet you're still surprised by a crashed ship. all 3 did was go beyond the standard easter egg.
I just finished Dead Money for the first proper time (last time I did it I got pissed off, tcl'ed and fucked it all up). It really wasn't that bad gameplay wise imo, and the writing was fantastic.
mothership zeta is terrible cause the ufo did not have a single goddamn velvet elvis painting :c
Didn't Mothership Zeta suggest that the nuclear war on Earth was caused by the aliens?
Didn't Mothership Zeta suggest that the nuclear war on Earth was caused by the aliens?
this kind of makes sense to me if the aliens were trying to destroy humanity, which they clearly weren't or else they would'e done it by now with the death laser
Are you seriously defending Fallout 3's shitty DLCs with a picture of an easter egg? I see an idiot here, but it's not FullStreak.
tbh the whole alien thing could have been good, just not at all with the way it was with Mothership Zeta.
Are you seriously defending Fallout 3's shitty DLCs with a picture of an easter egg? I see an idiot here, but it's not FullStreak.
He's probably more defending the notion that aliens weren't too outlandish for Fallout. That doesn't make the DLC's less shitty, but an alien thing could have probably worked if it was done the right way.
I don't care about the aliens, I care mostly that they hint that the Aliens started the war (because it kinda fucks up the lore)
It's so weird that this thread was talking about easter eggs and the story. Shoddy cast just release this video.
Anchorage wasn't Fallout like at all and Zeta was just retarded.
Zeta could have been good if the gameplay wasn't backtracking through tight metal corridors. The writing was ass too (fuck any game that gives you an unkillable child sidekick. Hell, fuck Bethesda in 3 for making children unkillable then making them jerkasses just to taunt you), but there were some neat ideas about finding people who were alive before the war. Anchorage also faltered because of its gameplay. The levels were more interesting and the pacing was much faster but there is basically no plot (the meat of the games) and as mentioned, Fallout 3's combat is shit (arguably all the Fallout games have fairly lackluster combat, but 3's is exceptionally bad). The Pitt is decent fun but it crashes all the time, however it is probably the most interesting plotline in 3. Point Lookout is good as well. Broken Steel feels like an afterthought to be honest; the only reason people got it was to play after the ending. Even though I just spent endless paragraphs defending Fallout 3, I can safely say that New Vegas is better in most regards. The DLCs are better and the shooting mechanics are better, and that counts for a lot.
up until the bit where you get your own squad, anchorage is actually pretty neat. After that it just becomes a chore to get your reward.
Played TTW, had ED-E as a companion when starting operation anchroage, lets you keep his perk and target those crimson dragoons while they are cloaked. Solved every problem I ever had with the dlc.
operation anchorage could have been cool if the concept was saved for a full spinoff on a different engine, i would actually really enjoy a stealth-action prewar fallout game provided they actually did stuff with the setting (like holograms, power armored enemies, weather effects etc.)
Didn't Mothership Zeta suggest that the nuclear war on Earth was caused by the aliens?
Aside from one of the alien captive holotapes, I don't remember hearing anything about that. I don't think Bethesda would screw with the canon like that - judging from the Elder Scrolls series, they understand the value of a solid background world pretty well. [editline]23rd December 2014[/editline]
operation anchorage could have been cool if the concept was saved for a full spinoff on a different engine, i would actually really enjoy a stealth-action prewar fallout game provided they actually did stuff with the setting (like holograms, power armored enemies, weather effects etc.)
An entire game set in the Pre-War years would be pretty interesting, but I think that it wouldn't fit how Bethesda normally makes games, seeing as how they primarily do open-world RPGs. If it had a more Deus Ex style - interesting characters, multiple open locations, and an actual protagonist rather than a cardboard hero - it could work out great. Fighting Communist agents, taking down traitors in the government, sabotaging Chinese efforts to reach the Arctic Circle before the United States... then, as you're traveling to a job that will finally destroy the Chinese presence in Washington, the civil defense sirens start blaring, so you have to drop everything and run for a Vault.

Hey guys, what are the best gameplay/quest/etc. mods for New Vegas? I'm finally going to try and play it all the way through, finally. I've never even touched any of the DLCs :v:

It was literally like "DONT TALK TO THE ICE CREAM MAN, HE IS A STRANGER"
One more. This isn't going to be a 'thing'. Just this last one and I'm done. Dear Joyce, This is the last letter I will send you, and the first letter that won't be censored. Ambrose promised that he'd give you this letter himself. You should hear about this from me before you hear about this from anyone else. I died in the Old Town of Beijing in the kitchen of a bombed out hootong(a kind of Chinese house). Our squad ambushed a fortified position at the end of a long alley, we shot five of them and the rest surrendered. The Chinese were so desperate that they were conscripting kids, giving them nothing but a rifle and a flag to tie around their neck, the youngest of them was only a bit older than Little Ned. After that, I was shot in the lower spine by a sniper, and in my state, I was unable to protest as Lieutenant Stackmeyer herded the prisoners into a cellar and threw a grenade inside. We were surrounded by the enemy, unable to withdraw, and with the relief force unable to reach us in time, I succumbed to my wounds. I used every ounce of strength I had left to dictate this letter to Ambrose. Joyce, I love you, I love you so much I can't feel anything else, you and Little Ned, I love you two more than I love God. And that's why I'm telling you this: when you get this letter, sell the furniture, sell the house, sell everything you don't need and use every cent of that money to buy admission papers to a Vault, if you can't do that, steal those papers, kill for those papers, do whatever it takes. This war won't end as fast as they said they would, we're not going to win this before that big doomsday clock ticks down to midnight. By the time you get this, you might have a month, you might only have a week, and you have to do whatever you can to keep yourself and Little Ned safe. Do it because I love you too much to let anything else happen to you. With love, Davis Green, Marine, father, and above all, husband October 22, 2077 On an attached note written a long time after: 美國軍人的郵件 這很珍異!!!
i hate to bring a little hiccup into your lore theorising, but wasn't it mainland china that invaded the US? if so, they would definitely be using simplified chinese.
i hate to bring a little hiccup into your lore theorising, but wasn't it mainland china that invaded the US? if so, they would definitely be using simplified chinese.
That was actually a nod to a cancelled Fallout game from back before Interplay went bankrupt(so probably not canon anyways but w/e) where apparently Taiwan invaded and took China back from the Communists after the war.

You mean like, post-global-slagheap?
i hate to bring a little hiccup into your lore theorising, but wasn't it mainland china that invaded the US? if so, they would definitely be using simplified chinese.
If I recall... There was some dialog or note somewhere that stated how the Mk armors made breakthroughs in the Chinese mainland possible....which prompted the Chinese to use the nukes.
After the war? You mean like, post-global-slagheap?
Apparently. The China page on the wiki says that, according to Fallout Extreme, Taiwanese remnants came back and took China back, though it doesn't cite its sources, so, on second thought, maybe it's just conjecture.
Fallout Extreme is even less canon than BoS
