[QUOTE=Rents;46816300]Going straight north to Vegas after picking 9 luck is the only way to play, just need to scrounge up some turbo and a stealthboy from Goodsprings.[/QUOTE] You don't even need to escape deathclaws/cazadores with turbo. Just go through hidden valley, run up to Neil's Shack, then run along the ridge (to avoid the super mutant checkpoint) take a right when you hit the cliff face, then go up that ramp covered in bear traps where that giant boulder rolls down. Once you make it to the top there you can basically just run straight towards vegas with no hitches, no deathclaws or cazadores required. You only need to avoid a single checkpoint of low level dumdum super mutants, the rolling boulder is actually of no consequences and basically does 0 damage. [editline]30th December 2014[/editline] On a totally unrelated note, I'm doing some "Classic" Metal Armor retextures for fun/practice, anybody interested? Just taking the classic Khaki Leather/Polished Steel look from Fallout 1/2 If anybody's interested I could pump out a set of textures for the Reinforced Metal Armor and put it on the nexus. do it pls
Do you think I should clear Primm just like that?
I feel like you are using the female model on a dude because that ass is unreal
[QUOTE=cdr248;46819037]I feel like you are using the female model on a dude because that ass is unreal[/QUOTE] I think it's two different models
[QUOTE=ClarkWasHere;46818062]Man fuck I seem to be posting stupid shit without thinking recently. Sorry to piss people off, gonna lurk for another 3 years.[/QUOTE] No need to lurk away, its an internet forum and a lot of people get their shit in a knot for no reason, but I haven't seen anything too outrageous in these posts. Remember we are all equals here and we are poorer off without you and other members to contribute view points and discussion.
[QUOTE=cdr248;46819037]I feel like you are using the female model on a dude because that ass is unreal[/QUOTE] Different Male/Female models I should probably make a new image when I'm done, I didn't think it was that ambiguous :tinfoil:
[QUOTE=Spectre1406;46816066]Today's session involves failed hacking of schoolhouse's computer and being mauled twice by a Deathclaw I'm trying to kill. [editline]29th December 2014[/editline] And then, I got nowhere else to go and I'm still level 3, right now, I'm heading to the prison but I gotta stop for the day.[/QUOTE] Forgot one more thing. I managed to lose Caravan against Ringo. Twice.
[QUOTE=Spectre1406;46820117]Forgot one more thing. I managed to lose Caravan against Ringo. Twice.[/QUOTE] I think you're one of the rare few who have attempted to play Caravan more than once.
[QUOTE=ElectricSquid;46820245]I think you're one of the rare few who have attempted to play Caravan more than once.[/QUOTE] Because I have no idea what I'm doing, probably another case of not paying attention.
I always forget caravan is a thing when I'm playing new vegas until my inventory is cluttered with a million cards and I need to go back and get that fucking deck of cards.
at least now i can truely role play solid snake [IMG]http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ly6n25PsFi1rnklxwo1_400.jpg[/IMG]
i don't even know HOW to play caravan
right, made my way to novac while witnessing travelling merchants shoot down 3 legionaries, got myself a service rifle from ncr soldiers shot down by legionaries just right in front of camp charlie [sp]now, i met victor (again) and boone asked me to find the one who sold his wife to the legion[/sp]
Spoiler as to who to dun it [sp]the owner of the motel[/sp]
[QUOTE=Pigbear;46821429]i don't even know HOW to play caravan[/QUOTE] I love how awkwardly caravan is introduced. Ringo is holding out in a safehouse with a bunch of escaped convicts who want to finish him off right outside and his priority is to play a card game with an armed stranger who had just barged into the gas station he's hiding in.
[QUOTE=Pigbear;46821660]Spoiler as to who to dun it [sp]the owner of the motel[/sp][/QUOTE] [sp]cracked the safe inside the office of the motel cos i got itchy hand and found the receipt of the "sale"[/sp] [editline]30th December 2014[/editline] Something about strolling down the road to the next town is just unsettling. There's giant ants, radscorpions, and then those damn raiders.

Aah I want to replay NV and finally do all those DLC quests too. I've never done a single one of them. Fuck it, I'll speed through Apollo Justice as fast as I can and then go for another 60-hour run of NV.
[QUOTE=Pigbear;46821429]i don't even know HOW to play caravan[/QUOTE] caravan is easy once you get the hang of it to win you gotta sell at least two of your caravans, and all caravans need to be sold. to sell a caravan it needs to be valued between 21 and 26. You're competing with the caravan directly opposite in each column. Whoever has the higher value between 21 and 26 effectively owns the caravan. so some examples (opponent above, you below) 21 | 22 | 18 ------------- 24 | 25 | 12 in this one, nobody has won yet, although you have sold two caravans. 21 | 22 | 26 ------------- 24 | 25 | 12 this is a win for you, because all three caravans are sold and you have sold two 24 | 22 | 18 ------------- 20 | 20 | 20 be careful here - if you sell the caravan to the right, your opponent wins. Your opponent has sold two caravans and there is one left to be sold. Now, about playing the cards themselves Cards must be played in either ascending or descending order. They don't have to be exactly one above or below the value of the card, just higher or lower. The order isn't decided until you play your second card. for example 5 -> 6, now the order is ascending and you can only play 7,8,9,10 5 -> 4, now the order is descending. suits do not matter and ace is counted as 1. Obviously you don't want to play with a default deck, so you should customise it. What I would do is restrict your cards to just a certain few numbers and as many face cards as you can. More on face cards later. Good combinations of cards are 10, 9 and 7 (this makes 26, which is the highest possible winning score for a caravan) or 8, 7, 6, 5 (also makes 26). Your combination doesn't necessarily have to make 26, but it will definitely help. When playing for the achievement, I used 8, 7, 6, 5. It takes one more card to make 26, but you can make 21 with three cards still, and 21 is the minimum needed to sell a caravan. The lower values on the cards make you less susceptible to face cards too. there's a problem though. Say your hand is 2 10s and 2 7s, using 10, 9, 7 cards. Well, you'd place them like this, perhaps 10 | 10 | 7 but then you run into the problem, where do you put the other 7? Obviously you can't put it with the 7 already there. If you put the 7 on one of the 10s, you can't place any other cards there, right? That's where the face cards come into play. Kings double the value of the card it is applied to. 10 becomes 20, etc. Multiple kings stack, so 20 with a king becomes 40. Jack removes the card it is applied to, and any face cards with it. Queen reverses the order of the pile. the joker is too confusing to bother using. So in our situation, if we have a queen in our hand, we can do this 10->7->Q->9 or this 7->10->Q->9 you get the idea. if you can though, it's best to try and get the 10-9-7 or 7-9-10 pile as that takes one less card. There is one last key feature to face cards. Namely, they can be played on your opponents pile too. say the opponent has these caravans. 8-10-7 | 8-10-7 | 10-9 if you use a king on any of those cards, he will lose control of that caravan. This will mean you have the highest bid for it, and he'll have to use a jack to remove it. here's another situation where by selling an opponents caravan you give yourself the win. 20 | 22 | 11 ------------- 25 | 24 | 10 now, you own two caravans BUT the third one hasn't sold yet. You could start adding cards to your pile there, but it'd take at least two turns to make up 21+ Let's say the 11 on that third caravan was made of a 10 and an Ace. If you play a king on that opponent's 10, the caravan value becomes 21, and the caravan is sold, and now since all three caravans are sold you win the game! of course, the opponent can play face cards on you too, and probably will often. You just have to make sure you have enough of your own to win. not that hard really.
[QUOTE=papaya;46821924]caravan for dummies[/QUOTE] should probably put this in the OP
reading that post hurt my brain i'll stick to blackjack, thanks.
Sent a PM to Ermac20 to see if he could add papaya's post to OP.
i probably could format it better but I was typing quickly and mostly off the top of my head, I haven't played caravan in ages (although checking the wiki now it's still all correct, except apparently if you play a card of the same suit it is ok to switch the direction of the pile? didn't know that)
I would update the OP but when I hit edit it does not save any of the original text or code or anything, It just comes up with nothing, So I would technically have to retype everything by hand
[QUOTE=Pops;46822085]reading that post hurt my brain i'll stick to blackjack, thanks.[/QUOTE] The guys at Rooster Teeth have a guide on how to play Caravan. Their strategy makes it extremely easy to win Caravan every time, too. [video=youtube;AorCJkgie_s]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AorCJkgie_s[/video] Speaking of Caravan, I remember the good old days when you could buy everything in a merchant's inventory, then win every cap back in a single game. There wasn't a limit on playing with merchants, either, so you could walk away with thousands of caps and an over-encumbered inventory. Then you could go to the casinos, bet 200 caps on the slot machines, and wait until you won three oranges to win 20,000 caps. Sadly, the developers eventually patched both exploits, as merchants now have a limit on the number of games they will play [I]and[/I] on the number of caps they'll bet. The maximum bet for slots has been reduced, too. I've looked into removing the limits, but I'm not a coder at all. Disheartening, really.
the game still reads like [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Poker]dragon poker[/url] to me so i'll probably never understand it
[QUOTE=Ermac20;46822934]I would update the OP but when I hit edit it does not save any of the original text or code or anything, It just comes up with nothing, So I would technically have to retype everything by hand[/QUOTE] what you could do is copy and paste the op
[QUOTE=Ermac20;46822934]I would update the OP but when I hit edit it does not save any of the original text or code or anything, It just comes up with nothing, So I would technically have to retype everything by hand[/QUOTE] Reply to it and removed the quote tags. Problem solved.
