Wtf I have two ED-Es following me Returning it to Primm didn't work, killing the other one doesn't work cause I've got an essential companions mod... Guess I'll ditch ED-E when I get Boone then.
Except Mr. House was the only guy who could get man into space, he had plans to get to Mars and colonize it. With Ulysses foreshadowing a second apocalypse with the tunnelers Mankind is fucked unless they gtfo earth.
Honestly considering the fact that your choices are either slavery under the Legion, bureaucratic rule under the NCR, total anarchy, or a competent yet totalitarian dictator, I think House is probably the best choice.
tunnel snakes rule
we're the tunnel snakes
Fallout needs some snake-themed enemies. There's the Nightstalkers I guess but they're only part snake.
So, finished this game again in a week, this was a blast from the past. Level 47, Independent Vegas, almost gone through every quest spot I could think of (save McCarren, was cba to get the Fiends), and completed all the DLC. For the first time played DLCs, and I should say that Lonesome Road was pretty annoying with its Deathlaws on the bridge. I was playing a stealthy intelligent sniper with light armor (Stealth suit from X13), so of course he was fragile. Goddamn, those creatures just don't want to die no matter how hard you blast them. The ending with Lonesome Road was really sad, and the entire atmosphere around it. The Divide... Depressing. Fucking 10 out of 10 game, why can't Obsidian get more opportunities to make the best RPGs like they can? Any big new mods that came out last year? Haven't been up to date on the scene lately.
Fallout needs some snake-themed enemies. There's the Nightstalkers I guess but they're only part snake.
What about the Vipers?
What proof was there that the tunnerlers would move on except Ulysses guessing that they would?
Ulysses isn't exactly a reliable source on anything, really.
Ulysses is a crazy emo teen with a grudge. "I'm not angry at you, I just want to nuke the entire wasteland and kill you along with it. :downs:"
Ulysses isn't exactly a reliable source on anything, really.
Wasn't that line in there just because one of the writers (who worked on the original fallout 1/2) was mad about the current state of the franchise and how it seemed like civilization would be eventually be rebuilt, which was against what he felt fallout was about?
Just got banned from tops after getting 3 oranges on slots, after they gave me shitloads of shit and told me to keep playing. bastards.

Fallout is essentially at its core a wild western. It draws a very clear line in the sand and says "this is civilization, where humanity will build and rule, and on the other side is the outback where the only law is survival of the fittist." How much story could you even get out of the idea that humanity DOESN'T want to fix it'self. No, fallout is much better off with its story focusing around rebuilding.

I can't confirm it 100% but iirc he is very hostile when it comes to Fallout at times and is very persistent on writing his own take on Fallout which is about as grimdark as 40k.

He said if he could find a way he'd have civilisation nuked all over again. Which I think is a pretty bad attitude to have. Thankfully there are other people on the team who disagree with him, like Josh Sawyer.

Isn't that like some of the darkest shit you could find in games/books/other fiction? I like Fallout as it is right now, but a super dark FO game could be interesting.
I think it's pretty much implied that humanity would rebuild and then completely fuck itself back up again but I'd rather not see that be the story of the game. It works better as a theme than just a way to stop technology from advancing and continuing with the apocalyptic world.
Reminds me of how some people in the team were mad about FO3's weapons so they included them in NV but made them do piss-poor damage and made their ammo incredibly rare.
That sounds hilarious but I never noticed that, what are some examples?
That sounds hilarious but I never noticed that, what are some examples?
I think the shotgun and pistol ammo. Maybe 10mm guns? I don't know, it was only hearsay (and from this thread, no less)
Is it worth getting Wild Wasteland?
Is it worth getting Wild Wasteland?
Pretty much depends on whether you like Gauss rifles or the Alien Blaster, and if you want holy hand grenades. I don't think there's any other upsides or downsides. Wild Wasteland really shouldn't take up a trait.
Is it worth getting Wild Wasteland?
yeah. I just like playing with it
yeah. I just like playing with it
I often forget I have it and then that guy in zion shouts [sp]Take drugs! Kill a bear![/sp] at me and I remember.
True, its a shame that Obsidian might not be making Fallout 4(Bethesda might be working on it if it exists). I prefer Obsidian because most of the time with their games and having a choice, its not as easy as "Defuse bomb" or "NUKE THEM ALL" for good vs evil. I prefer the quests/missions that have a more difficult and no right answer choice, an example is "saving the trapped vault dwellers" or "help the sharecropper farms." Same with The Pitt DLC, either [sp]take the baby, but have the place be under anarchy and have no guarantee that Marie would be safe and alive and they get a cure, or side with the raiders and stop the rebellion, but with Marie safe with her parents who know what they are doing and working on a cure. Its a choice between short-term vs long-term.[/sp]

Even from the first, which is just a small collection of villages, towns and tribes, they are still trying to work together to rebuild humanity, and empires are beginning to build up. By Fallout 2, it's barely a post-apocalyptic anymore, it's basically just a western. A lawless wasteland which a few countries fight over. New Vegas is the same thing. It's the core of Fallout and what makes it stand apart from other post-apocalyptic media. The apocalypse in Fallout was essentially a way to wipe the slate clean. No more America, no more Mexico, new nations (NCR, Vault City, Caesar's Legion) are being built without the old politics of the Cold War.

Humanity has proven time and time again that we'll try to rebuild into some form of civilization when times are tough, or at least band together to the point of there being some sort of governing, usually anyway. Still, even if there is chaos, people are also inherently social (I'd argue good, but some would argue against that) and tend to band together and not screw each other over in times of crisis. There will always be a bunch of assholes, hence the raider bands, but the majority of people don't have the stomach for that. It doesn't make sense that after 200 years there hasn't been some sort of society rebuilt in the capital wasteland. It doesn't make sense that after 50 years with a unified language, writing, and fucking ELECTRICITY that there wouldn't be some sort of dominant power in the capital wasteland. Seriously, humanity can destroy the fuck out of things that are bigger and stronger than we are, and the supermutants, as dumb as they are, can't stand against a well organized force of people. A well proven fact with the NCR expanding like it does.
There obviously was a well-organized force of people in the Capital Wasteland. Who else would board up all those doors and windows?
There obviously was a well-organized force of people in the Capital Wasteland. Who else would board up all those doors and windows?
The same people that leave all the fucking nuka cola machines stocked of course!
