FO1 is pretty combat focused at most times tbh
And mostly because all skills except for the combat skills are really only used for skill checks. So things like repair are useless due to the fact that its only really used for infrequent skill checks. [editline]1st August 2013[/editline]
I'm aware that skills can be increased beyond 100%, just that i hadn't leveled enough to go above 99% on Energy Weapons. Also a quick question, how would one get a Turbo Plasma rifle?
Its a quest reward.
I once had some weird dream where I was playing New Vegas. Some redneck farmer was complaining about his brahmins disappearing and then it turns out that there's some hidden food factory where robots just grab pretty much everything that can be used to make a Salisbury Steak or a Fancy Lad Snack Cake. what
After visiting the planetarium in Chicago I had an idea for a scenario that involved entering a space exhibit that had been showcasing a large chunk of meteor from before the war that was giving off constant levels of low, ambient radiation that had turned the people who'd originally taken shelter there into ghouls and blue glowing ones with that same mind burst attack Mirelurk Queens and Brainbots had. There'd also be a bunch of re-purposed exhibit robots that'd spout off space facts while they tried to kill you. It's pretty cheesy but I loved the Science! behind the idea that somehow cosmic radiation or whatever turned a bunch of people into telepathic zombie marauders.

I don't want to spoil how exactly to get it and all that, but if you want you can look it up on the Fallout wiki. It should link you to the quest required.
I wish I had the Fallouts on GoG.com rather than Steam, something about using mods on Steam games feels wrong and I'm not sure if their 100% capatible...
Got back into NV and did the quest where you kill the heads of the Omertas. Cachino helps me, gives me a gun and all that then once I kill them he runs off without a word. About two minutes later, just as I had finished cleaning up the last of the stuff on Big Sal after rearranging my inventory, Cachino runs back in with a 10mm SMG and just starts shooting at me. Arcade Gannon downs him in one hit to the head and I ended up having to kill every single person in Gammorah just to stop myself from being killed.
Ok, doing another playthrough of FO1, having 10 luck is the best fucking thing in the universe, on my way to the Hub from Shady Sands, i found a crate with 10K caps in it, then while in necropolis, trying to find a way past Harry, i left to buy a hunting rifle, and right outside of the necropolis watershed, i got an alien blaster, needless to say, Harry is now a pile of ashes, as well as the rest of the muties in that area,
i think i've found the perfect mod combination project nevada + stalker weapons PN doesn't add any shit into buildings, does it?

Managed to get all 37 gold bricks out of the Sierra Madre. Fuck the ~moral~ of the story, I have a mountain of caps now

It's cool enough of an idea, anyway. That said, I've seen the whole "survivors trapped in a bunker/sewer/hiding place didn't know about hidden radiation" a lot of times, in both the games and in fanfiction, but it never fails to make me a little sad.
What the hell? I uninstalled New Vegas, deleted the folder and redownloaded the game and now all the mods I had are back. How does this happen? I just want a fresh install.
Sorry for the slow response, but iirc you can just delete the steamapps/common/fallout new vegas/ folder and then reinstall it in steam.
Managed to get all 37 gold bricks out of the Sierra Madre. Fuck the ~moral~ of the story, I have a mountain of caps now
I think the best thing I got out of Honest Hearts was 120~ rounds of .308 that somehow inexplicably wound up in my inventory. I think it was from one of the Armory M60s I picked up or something. I've just been scumming ammo through 65 hours of gameplay. [sp]That and the Survivalist's story.[/sp]
Getting ready to kill the Master soon, any tips? I have the hardened power armor, and a turbo plasma rifle, as well as an alien blaster if the plasma rifle isn't doing enough damage. I also have the Red Ryder LE BB Gun as well, just in case i need to rupture some eye balls.

So I'm having some problems with Honest Hearts and I'm wondering if you folks could help. The biggest problem comes from at the end of [sp]Crush the White Legs[/sp]. I go through the quest all fine and dandy, - except for one part I'll mention in a sec - but when I get to the ending cinematic for the quest, where [sp]Joshua kills those two White Legs and then I guess moves on to Salt-In-Wounds[/sp], he doesn't do anything. [sp]Joshua[/sp] just stands there looking like an asshole ([sp]with a gun pointed at the first guy[/sp]). I looked up the quest and saw it's a confirmed bug, since occasionally when he leaves your party he gives you his companion ammo, but when I tried to fix it the way they suggested, it didn't help. I thought it might be because I have the Willow companion mod and had her there, so I tried dismissing her before I hit the transition scene. No go. I think it might have something to do with a weird bug I had since I started Honest Hearts, in that the White Legs are actually neutral to me unless I initiate hostilities - except two in the main camp, no idea why. While this made the DLC fairly painless excluding the wildlife, I think it might be the source of my problem. Does anyone know what their faction ID is offhand? Or have any other ideas about what the cause might be? That's a normal glitch which happens whether you have mods installed or not unfortunately. You'll just have to reload a previous save and hope the script triggers properly.
I play on the Steam version with mods for the classic Fallouts and have encountered no notable issues.
I know they work (although Fallout 1 gets a bit strange, not sure how to properly use that fixt mod or whatever), but it feels cumbersome with all the Steam stuff attached to it.
That's a normal glitch which happens whether you have mods installed or not unfortunately. You'll just have to reload a previous save and hope the script triggers properly.
I've gone through it like three times now, and even this most recent time I had it glitch where he didn't talk to me to give me his inventory, but he was still at the scene. That's what makes me think it's related to my faction bug. [editline]1st August 2013[/editline] I'll give it another few shots, though. I'm just beginning to get frustrated because I literally can't beat the DLC without going through that scene.

Fallout: PnP Edition: Log 14: Barkley, Brawls and Burns http://pastebin.com/rK0MBy76 Some chatter between all party members and the new addition, Charles Barkley, King of Slam. I'll admit I didn't read half of it but Barkley got an energy-based basket ball from the alien space ship he came from, discovered that all his family and friends are about 300 years gone (since he's from the 1990s) and they all go to a bar. Bury Renaldo Ocelot's dead body, go back to bar, get drunk. Barfight. Gorgutz, involved in said fight, punches a guy's torso off. Only his torso. The rest of him stayed put then fell to the floor. Also Tom gets nailed pretty hard in the face 3 times, one of which is a crit, and a Luck roll saves his life with 1 HP left. Alcohol- and electricity-created fires burn half the bar. Barmaid trapped in ring of fire, Barkley slams to the rescue. Everyone goes and gets free first aid. End. ...more or less.
So I'm finally getting back into New Vegas after several months of being bored of it, and oh my god I can't believe I was able to [sp]seduce Benny, have sex with him, and kill him in his sleep[/sp]. This game is amazing.

I don't get the achievement, but I'm done with Honest Hearts now. I'll get the achievement in my robot playthrough.
wow Dead Money is completely not fun dreary dark murkey graphics, tight corridors and linear design ook
[Science 90] <Reprogram the Central Command AI to harvest nearby raiders.>
The AI should be a guy named General Mills, a stereotypical U.S Army general who's holding a huge bowl of cereal.
Particularly after it's been spoiled, the great mystery of the Sierra Madre that causes every single person who has ever been there to abandon all of their morals and convictions and get themselves killed is just [sp]apparently some gold bars. That's it. Woo.[/sp]

Sure it seems stupid, because you are a player, but to a person in that situation[sp]gold bars are a lot of money, and something to die for. I think the idea is that you think that it's stupid how people can do such things for only money, but once you come to that realization you yourself see it all around you.[/sp]
Just fucking run
I finished the game, Red Ryder LE BB Gun and 10 luck with 189 small guns took care of Mariposa, while killing the master was piss fucking easy, i ended him without taking a single hit from him or the super mutants. In fact, he never got the chance to fire at me. EDIT: man it's so satisfying to shoot at a super mutant and blow a gigantic hole in him with a fucking BB gun. I had the more criticals and better criticals perks, and i was doing 100 pts of dmg per shot if it critted on muties. I killed the super mutant Lt. in 5-6 shots, a crit that knocked him to the ground, and follow up eye shots that reduced his health to nil and killed him. I proceeded to forget what to do though, and died when i ran out of time when running out of there. EDIT: i'm having some serious trouble, i can't seem to scrounge up enough cash no matter how hard i try for rescuing Vic. I have no clue how to get to the other towns, i even asked, and the towns weren't revealed. Also the fucking orphans in The Den stole Vic's Radio and i had to buy it back for $150, just so i could give it to Vic.
Bought fallout collection in sales and I think I'm going to jump into F1 now wish me luck recommendations to make it a better experience would be cool too, if there's anything I need to know
wow Dead Money is completely not fun dreary dark murkey graphics, tight corridors and linear design ook
Plus the beepy collars that strongly discourage exploration and the annoying as fuck enemies.
