i dropped from gold to silver
Mainly scared of the pressure of promotion matches. My W/L in normals is only like 8 wins more than losses and I have like 2400 normal games.
Also I always feel like I need to put in 110% to win games. Losing games is pretty crushing for me.
Can someone explain all this whole league-system in a nutshell.
I'm in silver 1 with around ~50+ points if I remember correctly.
I forced myself to play my placement matches and I was pretty disappointed with getting into Silver 2. I was hoping for Gold 5 or Silver 1 because my W/L was 7/3.
Only time I played ranked a lot was in season 1 and that was to get a clean slate so in the future I would be able to start at 1250 which is around about the starting elo for ranked.

from what I understand, LP changes are measured by the MMR of others in your game and where the system thinks you deserve to be. If you keep winning games you'll blaze through the tiers but if the system thinks you're close to where you belong you'll only gain small amounts.
You can't drop tiers (gold, silver etc) unless you're inactive and lose "LP" into the tier below.
You're still match made according to MMR so if a Diamond dude loses like 50 games in a row, he'll be forever Diamond 5 but may be matched with silver or bronze players.
When you have 100 LP, you're put into a promotion series which you have to win the majority of your games to advance tier/division. 2/1 for divisions and 3/2 for tiers.

If your W/L was 7/3, then Silver 2 is the rightful place to get, given that you didn't get a higher starting ELO from Season 2.
You start at 1200 ELO or something, every win in placement matches is around 50 ELO, every loss is around 50 ELO. 7 wins give you +350 ELO, 3 losses give you -150 ELO so in total you gained 200 ELO and got placed into Silver 2, which is the equivalent of 1400-1450 ELO
Yeah I realized that but I don't really want to tread through mud again. It took me 200 games in season 1 to un-fuck up my elo, lol.
Maybe I'll play ranked again some time in the future and gather enough momentum to reach something higher than Silver 3 (decayed from 2)

How do you play League with Steam? It usually just dies after you start the launcher.

idk, works for me. Been using it since 2010. I set steam to open lol.launcher.exe
The overlay doesn't work on the air client but it works in-game.
I hate running League through Steam since everytime someone messages me it blocks the map.

i think you can change what corner the messages appears in so insted of bottom right it would be top right
