in what way? what champion are you referring to? From what I've seen, holding down the spell while smartcasting gives you the exact range/indication as you would see without smartcasting.
You mean the buggy "smartcast-indicator" system which delays smarcast itself and is terribly thought out? Yeah nobody uses that crap
I do :(
My condolences
Not sure why you think smartcast is intrinsically better, what matters the most is hitting the darn things and non-smartcast can help a great deal
I don't use smartcast, I like to know when my skillshots' going to hit and when not. Propably should try out smartcasting someday.
I think that my skillshots have improved a little more by using Smartcast, if i'm honest.
I dont use smartcast either and I dont plan to. I just like having the range on my stuff visible when I want to use it
Not sure why you think smartcast is intrinsically better, what matters the most is hitting the darn things and non-smartcast can help a great deal
Yeah you'll be able to hit all your skills in 5 seconds!
Not sure why you think smartcast is intrinsically better, what matters the most is hitting the darn things and non-smartcast can help a great deal
because it speeds up your play by a lot first 10 games you smartcast you'll have to get used to it but once you got the hang of it you'll notice the difference
No offense, but if you think smartcast doesn't have a hugely noticable effect on play, then you're not quite experienced with the game yet.
As much faster as it is, it's all down to preference honestly. Whatever feels more comfortable usually works.
If you wanna learn to play with smartcast, just start by playing Ezreal on smartcast. You'll see how much faster your reaction speed is and you'll want the same for every other champion. Also, smartcast summoner spells and item slots too
I don't think Dyrus uses smartcast along with a few other pros. so no, not using smartcast doesn't mean youre bad
When I first started smartcasting I wasn't smartcasting items and my summoners. Fucked me over in warding and etc.
I don't think Dyrus uses smartcast along with a few other pros. so no, not using smartcast doesn't mean youre bad
Dyrus has his QWER bound as default casting, but whenever I watch his stream he just uses Shift + QWER to smartcast and from time to time he uses the default casting when he wants to land a precise shot or needs a range indicator. Using smartcast doesn't mean you have to bind smartcast to QWER alone
proof if you don't believe me:
When I want to be precise I just hold down the ability smartcasted for the range indicator. I wonder why Dyrus doesn't do that
No offense, but if you think smartcast doesn't have a hugely noticable effect on play, then you're not quite experienced with the game yet.
Froggen doesn't use smartcast alot, he does mighty fine, hitting them is the most important thing, that extra few milli seconds to aim it can make alot of difference for some people and yes I do smartcast somethings and understand their importance, but it is a preference thing, not an experience thing
Cherrypicking pro players and stating they don't use smartcast just emphasizes the fact that >95% of the other pro player do, in fact, use smartcast. That Dyrus/Froggen or whoever is an exception doesn't necessarily mean you are.
If you don't smartcast you set yourself at a huge disadvantage. If you 1v1ed someone with the exact same skill as you who smartcasts, you'd lose.

Saying that 95% of pro players use smartcast is a preference thing. Just like more people currently play lol over dota2, or more people play this fps game of that fps game, it is their preference, that doesn't make one game better then the other. The fact that it can be done just as well by those '5%' of pro players who don't smartcast means there isn't really much difference.
NERD
not rly, i carried as thresh and zac
Did half of the people on FPNA migrate to EU or something

Comparing LoL and Dota2 is not a working analogy in this matter, or any other 2 games of the same genre, either. Not using smartcast is just impairing yourself, and the higher the average skill, the more you'll handicap yourself. And yes, it is indeed a "preference" because it is simply better.
either can work to each his own
either can work to each his own
If you can aim, smartcast is better. Go play Ryze without smartcast for example. If you REALLY have issues you can use shift+Q or just bind specific skills to not be smartcasted (blitz hook is usually a really popular one) but I'd say just practice some more. You can make sure you hit every ability. But you can't remove your delay on pressing a button and clicking. Doesn't really matter in most circumstances but some spammy champions really get a lot out of smartcasting.
Udyr instalocks top even when Lee called it, Lee dcs for the first 5 minutes, I get ganked twice in the first 5 minutes by 4 of them, we still steadily came back

I was trying to say that just because the majority of pros use smart cast for their skill shots, doesn't make it better that that argument is pretty null (first point). The difference is usually a fraction of a second and it can help people hit a skill shot, which is the most important thing. 'because it is simply better', nice argument there.
