Oh, that's not what I meant my bad. I think of "early defensive item" as in rushing it after your core (AD+AS+LW). I don't usually do that unless I'm getting focused/bolted in teamfights.

Actually, I need help.
There are times when I can't do much other than an afk farm fest. When I'm playing against a tanky vlad or some shit, our damage exchanges are equal, I can't poke him with jayce cannon bawlz because I run out of mana while he regenerates his health, so I'm screwed and have to farm.
If I leave lane, he pushes turret. what do
(assuming my jungler is unreliable)
if its such a stalemate cordinate a gank mid and go there. vlad should be forced to either take your tower or come mid too and then thats a good fight since id see jayce much stronger in a team fight. also if he stays top you guys should be able to take mid down

Do you buy a Doran's Blade and a Tear of the Goddess? Are you putting points in W or R after the first one?

on jayce i build:
start 3 red/blue sodas, faerie charm and ward
rush tear
brutalizer
bloodthirster
then whatever else i need. giants belt, last whisper usually
i dont think i've actually upgraded tear in to muramana, it'd be my last item ever
does it add a lot of extra damage compared to upgrading black cleaver ?

Well yeah, I usually get it after brutalizer + boots tier 2. Don't forget that Manamune gains stacks from auto-attacking in addition to using abilities, so you will get Muramana even quicker. You should also consider getting Last Whisper earlier unless you can afford BF/BT right away, especially if your opponent is stacking armor. I rarely get Bloodthirster at all but it's up to you I guess.
Also Doran's Blade is really good because it has all the stats you need, unless you have problems with having too many items.
jayce has awesome AD scaling, why wouldnt you buy a BT?
boots are fuckin' expensive unless its ninja tabi, and even then i dont need it unless im losing lane to an AD champ
and i have no problem charging tear really fast
andddd i pick up a dorans once in a blue moon
Manamune gives you more AD than a B.F. Sword and costs less.
BT is a lot of lifesteal.
What support is good at countering Leona? Faced a Miss Fortune and Leona as Caitlyn and Janna and we lost (aside from out Cait being brain dead). I main support and have always wondered who would counter a pick like that because Janna did not have enough CC to stop leona from exploding bottom lane.
If you can afford a BT that's great but I usually just end up with Last Whisper because it's so good.
Play Jayce mid and go Dorans + Life steal quints. Watch their squishy AP get wrekt.

If you play against a compotent mid they'll outsustain you with pots in trades because this isn't botlane.

Janna. You counter hard engage with hard disengage. Use Q instantly if Leona uses E.
Considering getting the Allstar Bundle, looks really good.

I don't think Jayce mid is that hard to fuck up, if you're having a hard time, just farm it up or call for a gank. Midlane offers a lot of room for mistakes, I find.

Getting Muramana pre-8 will prove a real challenge though. Muramana first, no extra items. Ultimate man-mode.

If you spent mana perfectly, you could have a maxed muramana in 12.5 minutes.
