Ok so I'm going to rant as to why supports are boring.
So the primary concern of a support are to spam wards and peel. That's it. Anything else is an unnecessary action that risks compromising your lane balance, often in the enemy's favor. Getting cs is obviously a no-no, and harassing is hardly an option especially if adc got lifesteal or they have an healer.
That said, this is the typical life of a support. Let's take a look at the most used support characters.
Soraka. Spam heal/mana forever and ward until lane phase is over so you can be even more useless. Same with Sona, although Sona has her ulti so she's ok. Both of them are fucking boring and the exact reason as to why support sucks.
Janna and Taric are "standby until they try to gank/attack you so you can peel for your carry". They CAN initiate, but if the enemy is competent enough they're not letting you catching them off-guard.
Alistar and Leona are MAN MODE YOLO on the off-position adc except that you get brutally raped 9 times out of 10 because your fucking adc KEEPS FUCKING FARMING CREEPS EVEN THOUGH YOU PINGEDAOJFHkjadhfkjahkjg.
Lulu/Blitz/Thresh are exceptions. They're good at harassing at a safe distance so they're not as boring but it's still not as an active role as farming as adc is. (read as: it's fucking boring)
Also Nidalee and Lux, but yeah, no need to comment on them. "Oh so you want me to 'support'? Alright, I'm going 'support' then. Oh man I so TOTALLY didn't want to steal that cs/kill! soz :))) xd"
I believe at some point in time existed a champ that was called Zilean. Also a fish of some kind.
Anyway, lane phase is over and everyone is fucking around the map. So guess what? As a support it's now your job to - you guessed it - SPAM WARDS. WOOO. Oh and get ready to get ravaged by your teammates if there are less than 4 wards in the entire map. FYI farming is still a no-no.
So, to pass the time, you'll just have to stick to your carry's butt and do your best to avoid that anyone gets near him, even if it means that you'll have to stare at a gray screen for 30+ seconds while watching the life that you just saved switch into primal rage mode and suicide into 5 people while trying to avenge your death.
This is what support is about. Absolutely nothing else. I guess activating items once in a while fits in this whole description too, not that it changes much obviously.
I do not like playing support.

So after bot lane lost, although was still pretty winnable, our jungler decides to kill some minions in botlane. What does the adc do? "ok im afk fuck you noob" and he then proceeds to not join any teamfight and die on purpose, and say he dosnt actually want to win.

That is the worst thing that a support can do, it is annoying as shit when the enemy support is actively fucking you up and yours is standing behind you doing absolutely nothing.

TF is one of the most picked/banned champions in ranked...
forgot about ranked and got knocked back to silver 3 due to inactivity so i tried getting back and i lost the series due to an orianna support

I hate that whenever you don't ban one of them and then the enemy team picks them and does remotely well with them you get whiners that say "OMG SHOULD HAVE BANNED HIM". I can tell it is getting better as I am ranking up though.

shen is a legit ban cause he is very strong

havnt seen malphite banned for a very long time now
That's the fucking mindset of Bronze/Silver people who pick peopel cause they're open and feed and lose games, they aren't even broken op 100% winrate, especially Shen

Shen is not OP, but he is fucking annoying. Same with TF and Panth. A good Shen/TF/Panth that looks at minimap is guaranteed to shit on anyone sub-gold.
I usually go with banning zac/thresh/j4/naut/tf/nunu or something like that

He is a legit ban anywhere - any Shen with a bit of skill can change around a fight every couple of minutes.

Because it is all about getting your stacks up so you can fuck them up with expunge. BOTRK synergies with that since you chip away % of their current health then when they are low expunge and kill them. The item gives you everything you need as Twitch.
It even gives you a slow for ganking people.
