riot removed malady in 3.8 and moved the mres shred to wits end
but even malady was a situational item, wasn't it? I think the only person I ever got it on was kog. and maybe kayle.

Shen, Shyvana, Mundo, Udyr, Kayle(AP is better), Teemo(Nashors Tooth is better). Can sometimes get it on Cho'Gath, Nautilus for some deceptive AA damage.

Hell it's a good item for any tank who feels like they want to fuck the other team's shit up really. Not something you'd build every game but if you feel like you're lacking some damage go for it, it does a surprising amount of damage.

Only decays your LP tho.
You'll gain it back in an increased rate.
For example if you where platinum, then not play until you decay to silver,
you would still be playing with platinum people and atm you win a game you'll probably gain over 50 LP.
And if you lose you would lose <5 LP.

The enemy mid got blue at least 4 times and when I asked him if I could have he just said "get it yourself" and then stole it from me.

well if you see your enemy mid running into your jungle and repeatedly coming out with a blue buff they didn't previously have you should be a bit cautious, but otherwise not really
maybe ward it if it happens that much. (five minute timer, you can just eyeball it if you don't want to throw wards in)
