By the end of the game they had 6 Bloodthirsters and roughly 550 AD

yes, when your MMR is higher than your actual league standing you'll get increased LP gain
ive gotten up to 38LP for a game on a bronze 1 smurf account once
flox doesnt deserve to get any higher than bronze 1 stop boosting him

Also both times i was promoting my self to gold from silver the thingy said if i win 3 games i will be promoted to plat, so i guess game is still using MMR?
I wish i was bronze so i get best bronze icon
