As support at low level you can spoon feed your adc with farm and kills while then transitioning into an AP damage dealer meaning you have 5 people who do damage, if you go solo your'e back with 4 and a possibly retarded adc or other laners.

The point I was trying to make which I realise I never actually stated was that I'm not a terrible support and it's often the role nobody wishes to play (at my level anyway), so I can go support, help the ADC out without taking any farm and then become a damage dealer using only the gold I earn over time (buying a few gold granting items along the way helps). I'd imagine her ass-kicking potential would only increase in a solo lane with extra farm but she doesn't seem to need it. Her ult + Q is deadly at any level with any items, adding some AP makes it amazing.
