apparently riot actually loses money on shit like this. they pay for the venue and the teams and all that shit and the advertising and tickets aren't quite high enough to offset the cost

Friend of mine works at stub hub and sells tickets to these venues and you wouldn't believe the money people will throw down on tickets.

They pay for prize money, event set-up and even player salaries, but the money brought in from sponsors, viewers and ticket sales doesn’t yet offset the cost. But for them, it’s a worthwhile investment as it’s one of the best avenues for promoting their game.
or do they know they'll waste a little too much money and make up for it as the season goes? edit: apparently yes they do
You sure? Im watching this grand finale as a dota player, I noticed the casters kept emphasizing the 3k gold lead. Is this a drastic gold lead? along with that, do weapon/item procs work on towers?

Trinity force (which you've heard of because everyone seems to be getting it, it's the one that looks like a triforce) has a proc that basically makes your next AA after using an ability do more damage (works super well on jax and corki and ezreal, for example). there are items made for towers like the ohmwrecker but i don't think i've EVER seen that built, even in normals. (I saw a yorick build it once for some reason, but other than that)
Royal needs to know their limits they had that dragon team fight but they ended up chasing instead of just getting Dragon, getting picked off by Ezreal and wasting time on trying to kill Jax under the second tower. Also Royal sometimes had disgustingly bad vision which got them caught. I don't understand their team comp either. They're willing to use all their ults to pick off people yet Rumble/Vayne both require a lot of time to get their damage down. Should of had more burst if they wanted to go for an assassination comp.
as for 3k gold lead it's not necessarily that that's HUGE, but it's a good indication of how someone's doing. dragon, for example, gives...what, 150g to each player? So that's only 600g but you've seen how much people fight over it. It's more just an indication of snowball potential.

Some character abilities that modify their basic attack proc on turrets.

Well SKT is going to win hands down so I'm done watching. NA and EU step it up next season please.
