well, passive skills (does kass' W really work against towers? i could swear it didnt) and empowered attacks usually deal bonus damage (even diana's passive), but i think the only spell you can actually target a turret with is janna's shield

it's been known since season 1 that you can shield turrets
basically anything that affects the NEXT melee attack will do the appropriate bonus damage, but no abilities will actually hit it.

Its not really that huge, but its not something to be underestimated either.
3k Gold is equal to a 4 tower lead, and item cost in league is about 40% lower then in dota.
Plus gold difference is an always relevant conversation piece for the casters.
i don't play dota so i'm not sure but i've heard that dota and lol approach items and skills differently. supposedly in league base damage on skills is much higher than it is in dota so dota puts much more of a priority on items. i have no idea if that's true.

why do royal have such a fear boner against vi?
Dota 2 doesn't require as much farming, but you also lose gold when you die, so it's a bit different. There are also a lot more items in Dota 2 that act as another minor ability.

As Cold said, Dota has higher item prices, and when that's combined with higher gold-per-creep and the fact it's lost on death, there's a massive priority on items. Dota also possesses far more Active Ability Items.
LoL abilities also scale with items, while Dota abilities do not. That's not to say those abilities are weak, but they have a flat amount of power.

Also I'm sure there's something to do with Dota's stat calculation of Strength, Agility, and Intelligence (Health, Armor & Attack Speed, Mana Regen/Pool, along with attack damage based on a hero's primary attribute).

dota's skills don't scale at all, so you have no such thing as hard magic damage carries, because late game they simply fall off no matter what, save for like 2-3 heroes that actually do scale.
so basically, almost all mages are played as supports, and you need good physical damage carries in pretty much every comp
ah. yeah, i never could get into dota. i don't know why, because it should be basically the same, but i couldn't last hit AT ALL in dota. it was embarrassing.

I've been rooting for Royal but I dunno. From the start I could tell SKT is going to beat them fairly hard. Royal just doesn't seem all that outstanding as a pro team compared to SKT.

SKT is utterly amazing in their plays and execution, and Royal surprised me in game 2. While it's interesting to watch the best team in the world play, there's not really any... tension.
Impressive, but I wasn't really on the edge of my seat. I don't even have much to talk about with my friends other than "Uhhh... yeah, wow. That happened."
royal played like trash
curse levels of sloppy tower dives, got caught too many times. The only impressive things they did was win a team fight while behind.
