Really, the only justification is that there are people who physically couldn't buy these skins during the duration of their sale due to personal matters; which is what makes all of this "It's their own fault they didn't buy it the first time!" whining bullshit.
Though people like me don't really deserve these skins if that's the primary justification; as I haven't been around for too long.

ive only ever bought RP once in my life, but if i was to do so just to get an exclusive, limited skin, then find out its not exclusive, that means i had no reason to buy it the first time
only one, two at best now sadly.
I get a few lag spikes if I play LoL during the day or evening. I can only play really late at night.
Also LoL isn't as fun as it used to be. Not saying I think LoL is bad but everyone eventually loses interests in things eventually.

I'm not even sure if it's 100% legal what they plan on doing.
People spent money on goods with the terms of those goods being a limited edition and won't be sold ever again. 2 years later they hit the store again so the millions of new players can now get their hands on these exclusive skins too.
You can compare this to a car fanatic buying a limited edition ferrari or some shit and the car company said there were 100 of these cars ever made. 2 years later the car factory starts making the exact same car again.
I understand Riot has the ability to change their ToS etc, but I think it's not justified that they can bring limited edition goods. Apparently the problem was that these skins are only seen in like 1 of the 1000 games, but isn't that the whole point of a special skin?

if you want to be picky, limited edition digital goods doesn't even make sense because it's not like they'll run out.
Limited sale is a better term and even then "limited" just means that the sale of the skin will be restricted. This doesn't mean it will only go on sale once but rather restrict the time frames that it will be sold on.

It's not about the fact that Limited Edition digital goods can never run out, they should just never be sold again if they were being sold under the "Limited Edition" conditions in the first place.
Also keep in mind that it's still pretty much [del]"Limited Edition"[/del] ("Rare" would be a better word) due to the fact that the skins will only be available during their respective timeframes and not everyone will necessarily buy these skins when they're for sale. The skins for the most part will only be half as rare after this, not counting how many players play now compared to the previous years.

i found the original announcement and the closest you're going to get is "they won't be available after the patch"

Now onto what you said. There have been tons of forum posts from Rioters over the years saying that limited skins will never return. A bunch by that one guy, uh starts with Hip, he probably posted the most about it.
Maybe if someone wants to dig there is probably a post from that guy when they first introduced the concept of legacy vs limited that explains what each mean.

Okay so one announcement didn't say it. Congrats but Flashcat just posted an announcement from 2011 saying they will not be available for purchase after their limited run. If they defined the concept of limited edition and then put up some limited skins for sale it could be seen as a bait and switch or false advertising now that they are coming back. Like I said, I'm glad to be getting free stuff but I can see why some might be upset with this.
Also I don't see how my point is any less valid just because I couldn't remember his full name. Like I can't remember his name and that suddenly invalidates all the posts he's made telling everyone that limited skins won't be sold again?
