Particle effects and the gauntlets are really cool, I just wish they had kept at least some of the armor plates. More people in the "sexy" than the "badass" camp though, I guess.

Riot Graves
We need Bunny Girl Vi, where her hands are giant bunny gloves.
reverse vi where she's a boxing glove and the fists are vi's face
I remember seeing a post suggesting acrobat/reverse Vi where she was doing a handstand with massive boots and she kicked instead of punched, she's upside down to keep the silhouette like riot wants
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ROioO2D.jpg[/img_thumb]
I could see this working, maybe her flamechompers would just be land mines or grenades or something.

Did anyone else see that Wintermint league client thread on reddit? Someone made a new client for league: http://prototype.cdn-src-accf85.wintermint.net/
Within 20 minutes it was shut down by Riot. Pretty crazy. Though I guess that's what happens when you make a new client without working with Riot on it.
it'd be cool if riot decided to do something like that and ditch adobe air :)

am friends with the creator of client/seen source code/etc
I don't know why riot would get upset. All he did was take the info they gave him and then display it and let it interact. I really liked the client. I'll miss it! I was streaming it for a good while.

Oh I was watching your stream, small world. You should give us the inside scoop as to why it was shut down.
Yea wtf, That client looks awesome. Why was it shut down?
There have been a lot of custom clients before, there used to be one called the Ace client I think back in season 1. It was good apparently but they needed to manually update the client with the new LoL updates. Someone on Reddit also made a barebones client in Java before so I guess this one did something different.
I was told not to say why
Tl;dr, riot didnt like it
I think I've narrowed it down to:
-One button press dodging rather than having to close your client (easy account switching is possibly related to this)
-Being able to see how many people are currently queued up for each queue
-Being immune to their huge ass advertisements
-Being able to edit rune pages in champ select
I think those were the only features that the wintermint client had that the LoL client or 3rd party sites don't already have. Or at least these were the only ones I could think of that were potentially problematic.
that login screen reminds me of warcraft 3 when you login to battle.net
Didn't we have a very similar login screen back in S1?

That's an extremely huge deal considering they make money by selling rune pages.

Many many more, and rune changing mid select doesnt work. Its a rumor
Sad that it got taken down, though. The current client is bleh.
I bet the creator is devastated, but I guess he can learn from his mistakes and ask Riot next time before making a huge project without asking them first.

sorta.
So just checked up what this client was since I never really heard of it, and it does indeed sound amazing.
While I sort of understand Riot, it still pisses me off that they won't fucking scrap their piece of fucking shit client, or make a huge fucking overhaul so it becomes more efficient and actually includes a lot more features so you aren't forced to use 3rd party websites for a lot of things.
Edit: Even a small like thing like "remember password" would be great....

I think it's more or less the worry of the strain it can put on a server
I think it's more or less the worry of the strain it can put on a server
Well, that's true.
However, they could perhaps collaborate with LoLking (or other similar sites), or even make it some paid feature for a small amount of $/RP monthly or something.
Of course, Riot's service would be better and perhaps more detailed since it would be something you would pay for.
I'm just ranting now and my ideas are starting to sound dumb.
i think it's kinda funny that one guy made a client that is far better than the client a bunch of riot engineers came up with
it's too bad, considering the features he was planning to add would have been great

At this point I'm almost convinced there must be something holding them back quite a lot, I just wonder what that would be.
No way they cannot figure out how to fix it themselves.

lolking takes up a ton of the server actually
lately, the EUW server has had 10% of it's bandwidth taken up by a single website
a single one
Its pretty commonplace that community tools do more than whats officially provided, I don't see how this is a big shock.
A client that starts with the game like in Dota 2 (not two different programs/processes) would be good imo, because then there wouldn't be so many problems when entering the game from the client, like when the game crashes and the client doesn't show the reconnect button
They could also just make the whole thing faster, its one of the slowest clients I've ever seen in my experience with F2P games. Everything takes ages to load, especially the shop, dear god.
Also, there's the thing with how if you're doing something while in a queue and someone declines the game, you get sent back to the main screen and not where you were before.
Then there's also stuff I don't know if they'd like to change, such as the rune page thing, and easy account, server and language switching.
If you guys know what Dotabuff is, it's basically quite similar. You can see all your stats and shit on there, especially if you get a premium account. Though Valve almost forced the site to shut down because of it, since it provided unfair advantages in some ways, like seeing your "hidden ELO" kinda like the one you have in normals.
