In that game my support was not a support player and only played it because that's the role that was left because the one they called was taken by a ragey asshole. That + our Khaz'ix just being flat bad (like lets 1v3 them after they poked me cause I was in bush for 2.5 mins on their wards bad) meant that we lost lane. I ended laning at 0/2, my deaths being the exactly 2 times I got pulled.
You need a support to do well but if you aren't bad you aren't going to have bad games atleast 99% of the time.
How to be a good support? I tend to be lost, I ward a lot, always trying to have the bushes and drag covered in the laning phase then other places past the laning phase but I'm not sure what else to do, outside of warding I'm pretty useless, am I expected to do something else other than ward?

So me and my friend have started to do something new for fun in normals; act like bots!
We both wait until the last second to pick a champion and then lock in, and dont say anything in the pregame chat. Once we both load in we say something stupid like "Profile Loaded: duo_toplane" or wherever we are going and then we both walk together to lane. Then we just say stupid phrases everytime the enemy gets a kill or we get a kill, and we always say it at the same time and the same way. People actually believe we are bots and report us, I can't wait to see what riot says.

I used to max e but then they nerfed it, always ALWAYS max q
Max Q if good player max E if shitter
back in the day you could just max e because it did about the same damage as q so throwing your shadow at someone and hitting e was guaranteed damage, then because you're maxing e the slow is bigger and the q is easier to hit
