he's got a mini unholy grail in his passive now (9% mana return when he kills an enemy champion)
athenes is kind of weird. it's gold efficient even WITHOUT the passives, provided you're playing a champ that can benefit from every single stat, but on swain I feel like it's not a HUGE issue. If you're good at managing your mana then mana regen isn't as big of an issue as people like to say it is, and i feel like abyssal scepter is a smarter option for roughly the same stats + more damage (it's got more AP and the same amount of magic resist)
athenes is a great item for swain if you tend to have issues running out of mana, but i don't really think it's necessary and i think the slot can be filled by something better
another issue i have with athenes is that the only time that it's good to get it on swain (for the most part) is in place of abyssal or void because the other items are more important (roa, boots, deathcap, rylai's/spirit visage/zhonyas) and at that point i don't think mana's a huge problem because you're probably 30+ minutes in and as swain at that point you're either failing to the point where there's no point for you to even try or you're destroying the game so thoroughly that you've got control of both blue buffs and you're farming three lanes at once so your mana never drops below 50%

Thresh is pretty fun if you like having massive kill potential as a support. Fiddleport is also pretty fun if you like being an asshole with great single-target peel.

To be an asshole in the botlane, Nunu or fiddlesticks. Though to be a really functional support; sona, taric, nami, thresh. Lulu can be fun too.
When ever i see a fiddle support I groan in how terrible the game is going to be.

when he's on the other team, for me atleast; that's a 1-3 second fear, a life steal leash that he'll get atleast 2 seconds on and a 1.2 second silence.
Fiddlesticks is nice to play when you want to be a dick to the other team.

Ok there is totally something wrong with the people on Silver/Gold.
I duo queued with my friend, me being Gold V and he being Silver IV.
We are matched with people in the Silver I+ bracket, mostly having golds against us.
I have been first pick insta locking Le Blanc for 20~ games in ranked and the enemy mid laner always loses. Unless its Sion because every god damn Sion goes 5 doran rings mobi boots and ganks every lane
