nope. whole reason tokens are there is to prevent people from just re-rolling until they get the best combo
Is that really an issue though? I mean if people want to keep re-rolling, why not let them? There are still ways of doing so without Eden, they're just less convenient. I mean if they were really that concerned they could just turn off achievements and the like for Eden. They do that already with challenges and I know I'd have more fun being able to play Eden any time I liked and just not being able to earn achievements than having to earn points to play Eden with.
what would be the point in eden being a random character if you could freely reroll him over and over again
what would be the point in eden being a random character if you could freely reroll him over and over again
I think it's better that the people who want to play a random character can play that character whenever they want, than to limit their usage to spite those who would reroll them.
I think a good way to compromise with both is just state you cannot unlock extra endings with Eden. You can re-roll to your heart's content and if you do get an OP combo, have fun, but you're not going to cheese progress from it.
Are you supposed to not get any keys or coins in Hard mode? I decided to try it since normal has become a breeze for me. I got the first treasure-room item (the pea that makes you fart) and then got no keys so I only got stuff from bosses, mainly health upgrades and monster manual (or whatever it is), and beat Mom's Heart with non-upgraded tears as Isaac. That was not fun.

I'll admit, the game grows on you and I probably did unfairly judge it because of my initial expectations based on the original. I still don't like the music, but I'm getting more used to it. The game itself is really fun, though it feels like I've been having really shit luck at getting actually interesting item combinations in my runs. I have however gotten the mitre alongside the soul converter, having increased drop in soul hearts combined with the ability to turn two soul hearts into one normal heart was pretty coolio. My most OP run was with Azazel though. A wee bit bummed out Sacred Heart didn't effect the mechanics of my attack in any way but hey, massive damage up. Best of all though, Lil Brimstone is a perfect fucking synergy with Azazel having to charge his shots. I breezed through Mom's heart so easily with this combo.
Flaming tears are the WORST for some boss fights, especially mom. I was so close to beating her - she had NO health left, and I was shooting at one of the doors when her foot came down. I moved out of the way just in time because I was focusing so hard on the door, but one of my tears hit her foot and exploded, and I was close enough that it killed me. :suicide:
holy hell fuck suicide king
Still haven't beaten Sheol. Gotten to him three times, but the amount of spamming involved is always draining my health super-fast..

BFF and baby brimstone sounds like fun combination.
I'd prefer if challenges were like in the original Isaac where you were OP as fuck, but with added time limit or something like that. A lot of new challenges are fucking tedious.
solar system is just a massive fucking chore unless you get certain items
Challenges just like normal gameplay is mostly heavily based on RNG how well you perform, it would be nice if there were challenges where you just got certain items and certain level layout and that is it instead of relying on luck.

Phew finally beated moms heart on Womb 2 using Lazarus... I dont know if its me but each time i play as him i get all the good items.. by the end i had superman-like tear speed and damage... it dident last more than 10 seconds
skellingtons are terrifying in this game, they throw bones way too quick
Fuck Darkness Falls. Come on Satan throw a Brimstone at me or something.
I think at this point it's become common knowledge that eveyone hates the fuck out of these rooms.
I found it rather easy, honestly, since no enemies spawn within it's strictly a game of timing no worse than Frogger.
Ludo + Mom's Knife what a waste of moms knife. I'm never picking up ludovico again

I mean, it's not like this is some competitive online game where people who re-roll their loadouts are ruining anything for other players. If other people do that, it has no effect on me. All that might happen is that they might get achievements faster. I don't think balance should be that much of a concern. If other people want to cheese the shit out of their game with overpowered loadouts, that's their business, but it isn't something that I would do. The only way balance really matters in a single-player game is ensuring that the game is fun for as many people as possible. And the possibility of other people being regularly overpowered does not cause me to have less fun.

The only way balance really matters in a single-player game is ensuring that the game is fun for as many people as possible. And the possibility of other people being regularly overpowered does not cause me to have less fun.
I'll break it down simply: The people that want to be overpowered every time but are blocked by the anti-scumming token system in place aren't the kind of players who are fundamentally good with the character, and thus will not have the associated unlocks and achievements logged with them. On the flipside, however, a player that is just plain good at the game, who understands the mechanics and boss patterns, will have a cache of tokens stacked up just from regular runs. My compromise is this, beat everything on hardmode as Eden, and you get unlimited Eden tokens. To do that consistently shows some merit with the character, and there's nothing left to unlock with them anyway so there's not much lost. Do remember that Ed mused over the idea of giving people what is tantamount to Spidermod as a reward for 100%, as there's nothing left to unlock in the game at that point. Time constraints butted in and it's shoved off either entirely or until the expansion is released.
While I can see why it's done that way, I can only begin to imagine how frustrating it must be to beat Mom just to be able to play Eden only to start with Bob's Brain and Kamikaze.
Just beat the chest with Cain. Had a super OP run ??? didn't even hurt me once. What should be my next goals? [sp] Mega Satan and the Lamb I guess but how do I get to them? Negative polaroid by beating Satan 5 times? [/sp]
Wouldn't it be sick if there was an item like Brimstone but you shoot those angelic beams like angels in the angel room
