I am just having the best time playing as the lost. Walk into room with some spiders, kill them all. One of them drops a pill. It's a telepill. It teleports me into the cursed room. And of course, this fuckin' guy [thumb]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/36356276451736068/3831AE54AD08F392F79012E501BED6A928F60506/[/thumb] Every time.
But he's easy
But he's easy
are you a god The Haunt is like the hardest boss for me
move left and right shoot up boss is dead
it makes me really sad that I saw the new ed post eight hours late, I thought my idea was quite good but I think it's gonna get buried :(
it makes me really sad that I saw the new ed post eight hours late, I thought my idea was quite good but I think it's gonna get buried :(
Same, man. I hope some good ones get picked up.
I enter a room and instantly got hurt, black heart effect follows, suddenly I have an army of dozens of spiders (and I had none before) Seriously though you can't appreciate the sheer number by this picture alone
move left and right shoot up boss is dead
The problem isn't when he goes up. It's the three ghosts surrounding him. The odds of getting hit are very high because of how they act. They follow you while randomly going left and right, and occasionally shoot a tear as well. Not only that, once two of them follow you, they also bounce off of each other. You have to dodge random tears, random movement, and not to mention the giant invincible ghost in the middle that will also damage you. Of course this isn't a huge deal for most characters, since it's mostly 1 or 2 hits, but if you're playing as the lost...
I wonder what this new gamemode is. I was thinking of "run attributes" that you pick at the beginning of the game that affect the odds of certain items, bosses or rooms spawns. For example a demon attribute that increases the odds of a good red chest payout, devil room spawn and certain devil-related items. Or a nerd attribute that increases the chances of finding dice items and dice rooms. If I knew anything about programming or spriting, I'd make that into an entire stand-alone mod, with longer runs and whatnot. In other news, the lost is a bitch and I still have to do boss rush and chest with him :v:
Well I threw in an idea themed around gas, a passive that has a chance to proc a Bad Gas-style toxic fart whenever Isaac shoots a tear, like a more offensive Black Bean. The proc chance would need to be somewhat low, but it would synergize well with high Tears. And for my second trick, sticking with the theme of gas, an activateable item that generates a floating gas cloud to damage all enemies who enter it. That's right, even flying enemies, since they are left unfazed by creep damage like Lemon Mishap or Holy Water, though as a result I imagine the "Ghost Bean" would have a slightly longer recharge time than Lemon Mishap for balance reasons...
What was dr fetus like in the original? I hear it's not as good now.
What was dr fetus like in the original? I hear it's not as good now.
Dr. Fetus now does pretty crappy damage, you need two (or more) bombs for a lot of enemies. Dr. Fetus in the original shot bombs that did as much damage as your regular bombs, and also took on the effects you had on them (Blast Damage, special bomb types, etc.).
Dr Fetus now benefits from stuff like polyphemus and triple shot though
Dr. Fetus isn't nearly as strong as it was in vanilla, yes, but I'd argue it's still pretty good. You save a lot of resources and can find every secret room if you're willing to expend the time. And yes, the synergies can be pretty good. Fire mind + Dr. Fetus for example makes every bomb you shoot leave fire, which can get pretty ridiculous pretty quickly.

It was exactly how I imagined it, except completely useless. What a shame. I really like the second one as well, Lemon Mishap isn't all that useful in the early floors since so many of the enemies are flies. I think the recharge time should be the same though, balance isn't really a problem when you have items like Head of Krampus with a 3 room recharge versus Crack the Sky, which has a 4 room recharge. Posted my own ideas as well, I have a few more in mind but I wasn't sure about posting several suggestions in one post. A spacebar item that rewinds the whole game by one room. It would simply reset the current room, teleport you out, and restore the health, stats, items and consumables you had when you entered the previous room. All doors that were locked when you entered the previous room would be locked again as well, and the random number generator would be restored to its previous state as well, which means you can't reroll rooms with it. It's a somewhat simple concept that would open a whole bunch of possibilities. Bad pill? Rewind and save your stats. Bad treasure room or shop? Rewind and save a key. Beggar took all your money and paid out with a bean? Rewind and save your money for something more worthwhile. Also, a tear modifier that increases the damage of your tears the faster they go. That would encourage you to run towards enemies while firing at them and make tear speed upgrades much more valuable. As a side effect, it would probably make Ring Worm crazy good as well. :v: And finally, a tear modifier that turns your tears brown, causes you to fire behind you, and makes fart sounds every time you fire. It would be virtually useless but the implications would be hilarious with items such as Monstro's Lung, Fire Mind and Brimstone. :v:
A tear modifier that turns them invisible. That honestly seems like something that would go in this game to fuck unprepared people over properly.
A tear modifier that turns them invisible.
But he's easy
Not when you're just starting out and are slow and weak. I mean I will almost always beat him, but I will almost always take damage doing so - which is hard compared to most every other chapter 1 boss.
The problem with Dr Fetus is that it bounces now. You've really gotta time your shots.
it makes me really sad that I saw the new ed post eight hours late, I thought my idea was quite good but I think it's gonna get buried :(
That's one of the big issues I have with Reddit's layout. Instead of posts being linear like a standard forum or imageboard, they're instead sorted by which posts have the most positive votes, then by nested responses to said posts. So typically a high-rated post will just get a heap of exposure since it's by-default going to be right in everyone's face when they check the thread. Buried or not, I expect Ed and Tyrone to at least read over the entire thread just in case there are gems that don't get boosted to the top, either from being buried or just from being posted late into the thread's lifetime.
Ffffffffucking hate experimental treatment so much ruined a promising lost run because I picked it on accident when rushing back into the boss room and guess what, it made me super slow, couldn't dodge one bullet on time no reason to ever pick that up
Do blue flies scale with your damage? I had Guppy's Head and would spam flies constantly, and had max damage. I could simply walk into a room with the flies and everything dies, including bosses. I killed mom's heart in 4-5 seconds without firing a single tear.
Apparently the modding community is kicking in http://imgur.com/a/DwD2G
This was my idea. I think it's pretty good.
To be honest your idea isn't really all that unique. Yeah it's different from the mechanics already in-game but also 2 other people have brought up the exact same idea. [editline]asdfkdfj[/editline] Another thing I find dumb on reddit. They'll bandwagon whatever little flavor of the day is. Case in point, the top rated comment in the thread is about an entirely-cosmetic change that they won't shut up about and haven't for the past week and a half. Ed even responded to say the idea was nothing more than cosmetic and that should take low priority -- instead of posting responses to the thread like normal people, they responded to the Edmund response so their posts get dragged to the top and get exposure despite none of them actually offering interesting ideas other than a lazy combination of "damage up, shot speed up, tears down, or sommat." Meanwhile I post a lazy idea after having incorporated the bones aesthetic that they have this fan-boner over and it gets far more positive reception than something I actually put some effort into.
I suggested something similar to Monstro's Lung, except instead of tears you spat flies
I suggested something similar to Monstro's Lung, except instead of tears you spat flies
This would make some rooms impossible to clear unless the flies seeked out poops as well.
This would make some rooms impossible to clear unless the flies seeked out poops as well.
they could be programmed to float slowly forwards and impact with things tears usually impact with
I'd rather that they take a page from the black fly enemies. When they destroy/eat a poop they upgrade into a Pooter.
I would love an item that was affected by music. Maybe something like tears getting bigger/doing more damage if you shot them in sync with the beat? I know it wouldn't work but just throwing it out there. :v:
