Kinda miffed that Ed made a point before release that doing things in hard mode will also unlock things in normal mode, and then hard mode itself doesn't unlock anything other than co-op babies and Godhead. I was hoping for actual reasons to play hard mode in the form of tangible items, not something I do once and then never return to again because I wanted hardmode instead of no-keys mode.
I currently have Technology 2 and Ipecac. This is the combination the gods dream of, gentlemen. Please wait 30 minutes for a comment about how I died at the Cathedral boss.

I'd be real annoyed if I completed every character and had to go through all of them again just to get that little red outline for the drawings. Something in my head tells me that a run is wasted if I don't turn on Hard mode, I did so just earlier with Azazel when I got to the Depths and realized I forgot to turn it on. I wanted to quit so much but I just pushed through because it was already going pretty well.
what happens when after you defeat the heart/it lives and the light, trapdoor, and devil room all spawn at the same time? does the trapdoor and the devil room both lead to sheol? or all of em are their separate paths? (note there isnt any big chest here for some reason)

Also there's no chest after you kill the Heart anymore because you get to go to Sheol/Cathedral now [editline].[/editline] fuck sorry for double post
I hate to dissapoint, but apparently Tech 2 + Ipecac was so incredibly overpowered even a retard with two hams for hands can clear it. Isaac now holds the D6. I fucking did it.
I have low expectations coming from that expansion thread on Reddit. If we were to take the top-10 voted as per Edmund's goal, here's what we'd have: Blue Spiders reskinned as poops. Tears reskinned as bones. They later quote someone else's idea that is literally just stats up + status effect. Tears that ignore walls and come out of the opposite wall. More X-marked rocks spawn. "Transformations" with zero actual outline for mechanics. Familiar that upgrades as you feed it more money. Combine all item pools. Tears that travel backward into Isaac's face. Tears up the longer you keep firing. Skatole for spiders. So...useless, useless, interesting, should be tied to luck already, useless, interesting, interesting, interesting, interesting, Ed already said he was doing that. 50% isn't a good figure at all. For being the first guideline he gave, people sure don't know how to respect that he wants people to explain item effects instead of rattling off item visuals that give him nothing to work with and expect him to design it himself. Good thing that he can vet things out on his own or we'd get a handful of rather boring items.

So I've beat satan and the lamb with the lost, and also isaac but not blue babbichino or mega satan, but soon they will die too. Can anyone tell me, was Edmund always a cunt or did he take up the mantle after a traumatic childhood event. Getting HP up or effect on contact items on the lost rustles me in a way I've never been rustled before. Could he not just have at least made it so that the lost gains +1 damage from HP up items rather than nothing at all? suprise suprise, the community has awful ideas Read the thread on the subreddit about "balance changes" it's awful. http://www.reddit.com/r/bindingofisaac/comments/2ml2fv/official_bug_reportnew_ideabalance_thread_endgame/

I still remember the first day I got ingame and realised I could only use arrow keys.
I would personally love to use more boss attacks, like mega fatty's vomit or the cage's rock wave.
Combine all item pools. I guarantee whoever thought taht thinks it's genius ("I CAN GET BRIMSTONE IN SHOPS") but in reality it's a fucking terrible idea that would probably just have me reset the run
I would personally love to use more boss attacks, like mega fatty's vomit or the cage's rock wave.
my suggestion in the thread was "let us use the holy laser thing that the angel bosses use" and i stand by that maybe it could behave like a middle ground between technology and brimstone
I put in a flamethrower style tears, tears with a lightning effect as well as fly tears. Completely unoriginal ideas. But SO unoriginal if one of them did happen to get in? You bet your ass I'm taking credit for it
Sure hope you have a seed for that, looks absolutely ridiculous. :v:
Aw sorry, I forgot to write the seed down, but this is essentially Dr Fetus + Ipecac + Mutant Spider + Polyphemus + Soy Milk. I had Pyromaniac too but that's optional, for some reason Dr Fetus + Ipecac already makes you immune to your own explosions. It also causes your bombs to explode on contact with anything, including other bombs, which is probably why Mutant Spider causes them to instantly explode. Even if I had the seed, I wouldn't have remembered how many rerolls were required. D6 + Sharp Plug + Wafer is broken as fuck. :v:
I have low expectations coming from that expansion thread on Reddit.
It's Reddit, what did you expect. :v: Anyway, according to that interview with Northernlion I don't think Edmund is going to pick the top rated ones, I wouldn't be surprised if he went for the more controversial ones instead.

Walking into a devil room and getting three crates, or a shitty companion. Should be that you get a chest/spike floor/evil heart and then a guaranteed one heart cost item and a guaranteed two heart cost item. And move the companions to their own room like books in the library and shit. They're all kind of crap except for lil brimstone and dark bum.
Zombie Baby is great, it's guaranteed to deal damage and flies scales off your damage(oneshots bosses if you have IPECAC ggwp)
Zombie Baby is great, it's guaranteed to deal damage and flies scales off your damage(oneshots bosses if you have IPECAC ggwp)
I didn't realise it scaled off your own damage, add that to the list of good ones then.
Smart fly is pretty cool too. And geminy can be useful on the first levels
I got really fucking OP as Judas, I was a floating fucked-up ghost with those massive tears that grow smaller over distance and kept the book that makes you satan all the way to Isaac and kicked his ass by slightly moving up and down every now and then. I even got wafer and tons of health-ups and devil rooms with good deals so I was practically invincible. :v: Here, a picture of beautiful me: [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/52118875261645532/952146733AACE7BAD730D74CDE0F76D106F24D1D/[/t] I looked like Meat Boy at one point.
I've encountered some weird music bug, i entered the cathedral and suddenly the music just stops with playing, but everything i enter a room with enemies the "battle layer music" starts to play resulting in some angelic chants.
While playing as the lost (and dying a million times), I've thought of a few ways to actually make him more fun (aka less grindy and RNG) 1. Disable on-death effects of champion enemies (at least for the first two floors, goddamn). Can't count the number of times a good run ended because a blue-tinted enemy had his tearsplosion hit me. Or I'll go into a room with brimstone charge and fire it instantly upon coming in, and surprise surprise, there's a black-tinted enemy that instantly explodes and I die. 2. Start with spectral tears. 3. Invincibility for the first second or so upon going into a room (mostly to prevent instagibs due to red poop/accidentally running into an enemy) 4. Make the lost immune to environmental damage - fires and spikes
Spectral tears because it makes sense, and maybe higher base damage. Anything else would defeat the purpose of the character.
Tears that ignore walls and come out of the opposite wall.
Pretty sure that means that it will warp from one side of the room to the other, not just ignore walls. Like this: I dunno', I reckon something along these lines would be pretty cool.

There are so many items that rely on you being able to take damage or being able to have hearts. 1 out of every 2 boss fight's item reward is a HP up that you ultimately have no use for. Then there are the items like revenge fly and the crow that you will never see fly into action because you are dead when they do. I think either such items should be removed from the item pools for the lost or they should be modified so they add some alternative benefit. For example, HP up gives you +1 to damage rather than +1 to hp, or The Virus gives you the effect on your tears instead of on touch.
Cursed eye can go fuck itself. It's fucking dumb how the icon is just a circle, there's no indication of what it actually is.
Cursed eye can go fuck itself. It's fucking dumb how the icon is just a circle, there's no indication of what it actually is.
Also It looks a lot like Mom's Pearl.
It's Reddit, what did you expect. :v:
I expected them to at least have the capacity to fucking read. It's always a bandwagon on Reddit and posts floating to the top or being completely buried only exacerbates it. Hell, Ed himself responded to them telling them that their idea was basically worthless to him and they kept at it.
Anyway, according to that interview with Northernlion I don't think Edmund is going to pick the top rated ones, I wouldn't be surprised if he went for the more controversial ones instead.
Ed's a big boy who can put on his big boy pants by himself. As a designer it's far more fun to go with a controversial idea that requires a bit more fine-tuning than a safe idea that can be set and forgotten about. He's smart enough to filter out the worthless ideas from the interesting ones, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be agreeing with all of his decisions. I'm still unsatisfied with how the Polaroid/Negative was handled among other things. Tyrone even poked fun about how "oh yeah probably only 2 will be good" so even they have low expectations for it and are just going to dig for things that they like.
Cursed eye can go fuck itself. It's fucking dumb how the icon is just a circle, there's no indication of what it actually is.
To be fair nearly every item in the game is in the same boat; how are you supposed to know what an item does if it's the first time you're seeing it? But the thing is, once you get it you can remember it and it's visual.
