No reason at all to play Cellar, unless you get a godlike item in the item room.
There should really be a reward for completing the harder floors. Just getting a much harder floor because of bad luck and you wont gain anything is bullshit.
I wish the Lost wasn't such a pain in the ass to unlock even with seeds.
I finished family man by getting hive mind and a bunch of damage ups for zombie baby...
Just had the best run ever. Finished all the bosses on normal, so I moved to hard mode starting with isaac.
Kept resetting until I got a decent item (I'm a spoiled cunt), got death's touch. ok.
Basement 2, got the D4 and the AAA. Decided to try rerolling. Got epic fetus. Welp.
One thing led to another, and (boss spoiler for 'yall newbies):

Epic Fetus + Holy Mantle + SMB Super fan + Money=Power. Needless to say I beat both blue baby and [sp]mega satan[/sp]
what's AAA?
what's AAA?
The AAA Battery trinket
Combine it with the 9 Volt for super recharges on your spacebar items.
I don't get why everyone is having issues with Family man. Your main attack is the blue flies, which scale based on your damage. Open all golden chests possible, and potentially get cricket's head (I did fine without it, however).

I love whenever someone's advice for isaac is "GET BETTER ITEMS"
I don't mean to take the piss outta you mate but I see this a lot and yu kinda have to lol like "I would if I could!"

its not just the items, all you can do is literally just run around the room avoiding enemies whilst holding a direction to keep spawning blue flies when they hit enemies
from what I've played the only fun challenges are Tech savvy, slow roll and waka waka
the rest suck dick or are just boring. Kinda dropped the ball on the challenges.
I don't think Ill ever clear Solar System.
Demoman I might do but it's just so fucking slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I like Tech Savvy, Cursed, Glass Cannon sounds fun, Demo Man, Head Trauma (only because it went to mom so it didn't feel like a drag like family man and suicide king, why do those go to isaac exactly) Darkness Falls was fun I guess but it was just a standard Eve run that ends at the womb.
I've won Demoman twice and lost the progress twice due to stupid glitches. I just want the chaos card gosh.
Have I ever mentioned how much I fucking loathe solar system? made it to utero then got cut down because nothing drops heartts
IN general I hate the womb in this as well
but fuck solar system goingt o the womb. If it was Mom it'd be stupidly hard but doable
womb is bs
I don't really see the problem with Solar System. You start with flight and a Halo of Flies, which means all you need is another orbital (and no don't even give me that argument, they're common as fuck) to be safe from most projectile attacks, and your red attack fly does insane damage, which means you can finish most boss fights really quickly.
I think I had more trouble with Cat Got Your Tongue, although maybe that was just because I found myself with nothing else than a cube of meat as my only source of damage after an unfortunate dice room. :v:
I can't remember what items i got but i beat solar system on my second try. Maybe i just got a bunch of health ups or something because i don't remember it being overly difficult. Dark bum perhaps?
maybe I'm just shit at video games
no that can't be it
it's the items
This game sometimes. You get runs that makes you feel like Edmund himself is taunting you personally. And then you get runs where the game bends over and accepts its fate. And god I love that feeling.
Anyway, that's Dead Boy unlocked. God bless the Holy Mantle, ahaha.
I know it's quite late after release to post this but is anyone else disappointed by some of the enemy voices? It's true I can't quite recall the sounds from the original but I feel in Rebirth some of the voices are reused too often.
At first I thought Mum's voice and the general crying of certain enemies was a step down from the creepiness of the original Isaac's, it was particularly jarring at first. But these days I don't even notice them really.

When I played family man, the blue flies would often just stay near me and I had to more or less coax them to attack enemies - which put me in more danger than just using the other familiars.
There's a guide out there that tells you how to brute force unlock meat boy and bandage girl.
Essentially, you have to start with pyromaniac, and then acquire the sharp plug and a demolitions item of some sort (ipecac, dr fetus, super fetus).
Then you reroll an item until you find the monster manuel, and then you reuse it endlessly until you get both of the followers. It takes a while, because familiars CAN stack. At one point I had a super meat boy chilling along with 5 leeches, 8 attack flies, three bob's brains... a lot of shit. Check it out.

All of the assorted junk in the corner is the aftermath of some D20 abuse. I actually managed to crash the game twice.
I went into another room to try to prevent the game from crashing again

Here's the end of the run stats, as well as seed. I managed to instantly kill ??? because I had epic fetus + polyphemus.

Pyromanic will appear after rerolling the trasure room when you start.
The main problem that I have with Isaac and rebirth is the 100% randomness of the items, perfectly shown by the build meat boy and build bandage girl achievements currently being unlocked by 1% of players.
Like there are rules that make devil/angel rooms appear more often, there should be rules that make some items more likely to spawn, and some less likely, when you pick up something that is part of a chain- be it a guppy piece, a fly upgrade, a cube of meat or ball of bandages, whatever.
Like it happened to me to start a run with book of revelations and finding famine on basement one and still not be able to build either meat boy or bandage girl by the time I was in Womb II. It should not happen. It is needlessly frustrating. RNJesus shouldn't be the only one held accountable for these things- some narrowing down the item pools code should, too.
Making progress.

Interesting that there is a full screen graphic for the Book of Belial, even though it uses the Satanic Bible effect in game. That must be an oversight, someone must have told the devs at some point, I wonder why they haven't fixed it yet.
Apparently Flush was also supposed to have a full screen effect when you use it, charming. :v:
Was on my first winning lost run, about to beat mom's heart. Beat two random floor bosses and paused to take a breath. suddenly saw a troll bomb had spawned behind me while i was relaxing. Tried to escape it, i even EXITED THE ROOM but the damage carried over anyways and my dead body spawned in the next room oh my GOD
oh my GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I still don't even have the lost unlocked
also how are you supposed to reliably do waka waka you don't do any damage and every goddamn enemy comes hurling toward you
When you enter a room just hold down fire and don't move. Eventually the gravitational pull will get so strong that all the enemies will fly at you. Then you stop firing, dodge, and repeat.
it's not about the unlocks its about not letting the game win
So I've done everything in the game. Got everyone's post-its filled out in red, nabbed all of the items, did all the challenges, so on and whatnot.
There's only 1 thing left in my way. Making fucking Meat Boy.
I made Bandage Girl but only just recently. The game should lock down which of the two you get once you take the first one, then only present the option of taking the other if you have There's Options (say you'd rather have two orbitals instead of a wandering familiar). There's no reason for this to be so difficult.
I have to manufacture a run in order to make this happen. Going deliberately out of my way to ditch the D6 if I get a first floor Book of Revelations, avoiding the useful 9-Volt in hopes that I get the Sharp Plug and Monster Manual later, and just praying to fuck that my chances aren't screwed by Conquest or a double-trouble boss room. Vanilla had horsemen appearing far far too often that you'd get Meat Boy to at least stage 2 before you get normal bosses again, now I feel like I've fought them only a handful of times in the past month even if I'm forcing them to spawn with the BoR.
book of revelations guarantees a horseman though? i got one on my ??? run at like basement 2 and i unlocked bandage girl because of it; there is some rng involved i guess because the headless horseman and conquest can spawn and they drop those hobby horses
Book of revelations guarantees horsemen, but it doesn't guarantee that you'll get ONLY meat cubes or ONLY bandage balls.
In the first Isaac, getting book of revelations on the first or second floor meant you were guaranteed to make a super meat boy if you lived through the womb. But now it's a lot harder for several reasons.
-Larger item pool means book of revelations is less likely to spawn
-50% chance of getting meat cube or bandage ball on each horseman, so you have to gamble each time.
-Headless Horseman and Conquest may spawn instead.
I don't remember if the book of revelations spawned those two bosses in the first game, but there was sure as hell less RNG involved.
