man, I like playing as ??? more than I do Judas. I just don't get health upgrades when playing as him and go to the caves with one heart thats poop
[editline]7th December 2014[/editline]
and getting killed in the basement by two spiders you could hardly see isn't fun :v
hold space for invincibility, let go to let it recharge, if it runs out you are not allowed to use it until it fully recharges
This sort of description of breath of life cost me a lot of hearts. You only get about a second of invincibility right when the last charge bar disappears, and then you take damage. It's practically useless in combat, but it's really useful for bypassing small damaging obstacles where you can take your time.
oh i thought it was active while holding space, so it's like a delayed invincibility where you have to manage the charge delay on it?
I remember playing on normal, getting the Latch key and thinking 'man this item is shit'
Then I played Hard mode.
I now understand
i thought the same about the purple heart
So apparently you can drain the entire angel room pool and still not get Godhead (assume you've already unlocked it of coruse).
Right when I get a run that can cheese the system it's now just giving me treasure room items instead, at least I nabbed Sacred Heart for this run but that's fucking dumb that some runs just give you a 0% chance to find an item long before you invest the time in finding that the item you wanted simply isn't in the active pool. Yeah I get that it's supposed to be ~rare~ but arbitrarily removing it from play is asinine.
I unlocked the Lost and I'm not sure what I was expecting, since in the game I eat damage so much and so often, in all my playthroughs I pick items based on ways to both mitigate and augment how much fucking damage I eat.
So 50+ runs and one death by tender brush against tiny turd later, I figured I hadn't any more pride to lose so I went and downloaded the Lost Replayability mod.
And... honestly, with it, the Lost is almost fun.
I got the simple version which gives the lost the holy mantle, dead dove, and a devil card, but I think there's another version available out there that just gives him the holy mantle if you feel like you need to earn spectral tears or w/e. On one hand it feels like cheating, on the other hand, the difficulty is still there, but you can actually relax a little and bounce back from bullshit situations. It makes the Lost feel more like an actual character than a savescumming grindfest.
I don't know, I just had a lot more fun with it.
Two more Heart kills, both with my main daemon Azazel. Last run had Polyphemus on the kid, and I had to be swift enough to line up the good shots, but the damage output was fucking legendary when it hit. The Heart was dead in barely a few shots.
Also I finally unlocked Samson, using Azazel to avoid taking damage for the first two floors. Quite a few failed attempts in trying to get it, but in the end it feels worthwhile, especially considering how much of a buff Samson got in Rebirth.

Well it's a special item, so if you've acquired a special item already there's a 50% chance that, once it appears, it'll become the next possible item. If you've acquired TWO special items it'll become a 75% chance, etc.
So even though Godhead is in the angel pool you just having the D6 means that Godhead could randomly become any other item when you roll the item into it. And since you say you grabbed Sacred Heart, that chance becomes 75%, not including what other special items you may have had.

That's beside the fact.
The special reroll shouldn't remove an item from the pool, if anything it'd just push it back further into the queue so if I do manage to get it after it having been rerolled via the special-items rule, it's because I exhausted the game of all other possible options.
Godhead is lame anyway, it should have been Crack the Sky light beam summoning tears.
Speaking of Crack the Sky, apparently it got nerfed in the transition to the new game. Now it'll instakill you if you use it against any of the later 3 horsemen.
Just, why?
How exactly do you unlock challenges 8, 11, and 19? They're literally the last set I have to beat.
[sp]is it just get the 2 key pieces, or is it something else, I've only managed to get 1 half of the key so far[/sp]
I fucking love this game btw, so much bs, but man is it ever rewarding to beat it.
I think all that's really left for me to do is beat [sp]The Chest/Dark Room/Boss Rush with everybody (I've beaten ??? and The Lamb at least once btw) and then fight Mr Handy/Big Daddy Lamb. Ofc unlock The Lost, and get all items, but that's a later thing. I think I may actually 100% this one, unlike the previous game.[/sp]
To unlock 8 you need to transform into Guppy.
19 is unlocked after [sp]you get the two Key pieces and unlock the golden door, which will unlock Dad's Key along with the Family Man challenge[/sp]
11 is unlocked after completing 19.

crack the sky has never ever hit something that's not the floor for me
its so useless like goddamn
I just got Dead Boy on my first visit to the chest, lol.
Dead boy is the only one I'm missing. I gots ta get it.
finally managed to upgrade my old as hell laptop to opengl 2.0, game now runs... 10 fps :downs: fuck
Kinda disappointing tbh. Game looks and behaves like 90's material and can't run on 2000's hardware;
Magdalene you got a stupid fat ass I can't haul to mom in less than 20minutes to do the boss rush on hard duh
i think with maggie you just gotta get a good devil deal on the second floor cause her starting stats are really awful except for her health and range
Curse of the blind is the worst, made me pick up bob's brain when I finally had a not dreadful maggy hard run
Goddamn, I forgot Ankh turns you into blue baby when you die. I didn't see it because I had so much appearance-altering shit on me and originally I was trying to kill Satan on Hard Mode as Isaac but instead did it as ??? for the second time. Dammit. And I died in the previous room to Satan which caused it.

It may look like older games, but it has its own lighting engine, a fuckload of shaders and whatnot, it is certainly not comparable to old games in performance sense.
Those shaders are real FPS killers though, on my laptop with Intel HD 4000 every time the screen blurs after pill usage it downs my FPS to like 15
So can anyone give me a good reason why the game needs the polaroid or the negative? I've had a lot of good runs wasted because I beat mom and I happened to be sitting in the wrong area and automatically collected the wrong one.
they have different effects, the polaroid gives you a shield and the negative does room damage

they unlock the dark room/chest
I will always find it funny how I could get to mom in 11 minutes in the tank challenge (with clearing every floor), but in a normal run it'll take me like 26 minutes to get to her.
"hey the family man challenge is actually pretty easy"
"oh you have to go all the way to cathedral"

And I STILL did it first try with no extra familiars. Just abuse Rotten Bro's flies.
The Haunt on floor 1? Oh well, guess I'm restarting.
