arrrrgh I got a run with Technology and Polyphemus for the first time and I was overjoyed at how OP my laser was.
Then I got Mutant Spider and was fucking ecstatic but it turns out that decreases the damage of the initial combination so fuck
Huh, not bad.
[shop donations are] persistent and will cap at 999

should probably have posted the question too
the answer is basically everything stated in the question but condensed into a few words so i didn't bother, except for clarifying on what it was talking about
I'm interested in how he's planning on revamping the arcades if the Donation machine is something happening to the shops.
Although I am a little skeptic on how effective this donation machine will be, for many seasoned players that 999 cap will be reached in 20 runs tops and then completely thrown by the wayside for the rest of that save file's lifespan, especially if the Rebirth arcade is as exploitable as the classic arcade is.
He mentioned that there's going to be something that happens if you try to donate higher than the 999 cap, but if it's something that rewards you every time you do it, it'll just become a motion people go through when they go into shops since they'll have already had the cap reached. Of course he'll probably have it instead spawn Super-Duper Ultra Greed or whatever in order to get that reward but still it'll just become a motion to go through at that point.
Unless money itself becomes much less prominent in the basement, I don't see the Donation machine adding too much depth beyond those initial runs where you're striving to max it out while simultaneously keeping your run going strong without throwing literally every cent you own into it.
I'm getting more hyped with every update! Can't wait
Also him mentioning "Saving your credit card for the store" makes me a bit curious.
My hopes is that it's a credit card item that allows you to buy an item "free of charge", but if you don't pay back the cost plus interest by the next shop, a debt collector will come beat the shit out of you or something.
I know he said he doesn't want people stealing from shops so I dunno what else a credit card item could do.

If the debt collector isn't a train I'll be disappointed. If the debt collector is a thing that is.
Do we know when the game's targeted for release?

This year.
That's it

Storing money for different runs? I'd prefer that not happen... don't really think this game needs anything persistent

Not persistent in that manner, at least. Persistence in terms of unlocking new stuff however, that's the way to do it.
This monday's not all too interesting since we've already know about Eden for quite a while.
Only thing that's really new is that Eden will spawn with a randomized hairstyle and that Eden will spawn with 1 random pickup (coin, bomb, key, pill, card, trinket) and 2 pedestal items from the current item collection.
Maybe next week will be more new to us, but I know Eden's probably going to be the root of more of the game's longevity as opposed to just rolling with Isaac in order to break the game.
Eden? I forgot that she was a thing.
Not sure why it has to be from unlocked item collection because it'd be more interesting if it was from the entire item collection, but 'kay

It'd be kind of stupid to boot up an Eden run for the first time and be given one of the items that you are supposed to unlock after you beat Isaac and ???.

...Why not? It's only for one run and it'd be ~mysterious~ and more interesting because you don't know what they do.
[editline]27th May 2014[/editline]
And if it's obvious what it does because it changes you in a major way, the run would be more fun
Also the run would be even more intense because of not having that item
And what's the reason to not get locked items?
pffffffffft I guess it ruins the surprise when you unlock it and find it....? Ehh

The reasoning is probably because of the way the game is coded.
Picking up an item generally unlocks it for use, so having it roll out of all items would either mean a (probably) serious code overhaul, or just randomizing Eden until you get Golden/Platinum God.
And also because it would defeat the point of unlocking items.

Well that makes sense then.
And also because it would defeat the point of unlocking items.
How would one single run with a locked item, that you only have less than 1% chance to get, ruin the point of unlocking items?

Remember that this game doesn't use Flash anymore, so the coders are free to do whatever they want. It would be really easy to make an exception for this character and make so the starting items remain locked if you haven't unlocked them before.

Probably something like that. Although as you said, the probability is really low and you only get those items for one playthrough so I guess it wouldn't have been that much of a problem but heh, it's a choice he had to make and not allowing locked items was the most straightforward one.
Monday again!

New caves theme and visuals (under curse of darkness).

Also there are plans for the audio tracks to dynamically alter themselves when there's more-intense combat going on such as when there are an excessive number of enemies. The audio layering will happen in realtime much like FTL's soundtrack does.

Hang on, is it my eyes playing tricks on my, or are the enemies in that second gif on a platform lower than the one Isaac is on?

is that brimstone/dr. fetus?
One unmentioned thing is that this is an instance where we're seeing how flexible the room generation will be now.
We'll have the classic 4-way rooms we're used to, we'll have large rooms, and we'll also have rooms that are intended to be used for corners in the maps as well as dead ends.
I expect for them to house some secrets and rewards for players who have builds that can possibly bypass those makeshift "inaccessible" walls, we can already see a chest as a reward for players who opt to spend 2 bombs to make some bridges in the first image.

Can't help but to imagine what would happen if you tried that on the flash version. I'd keep a fire extinguisher very close just to be sure.
That lighting. Yum.

It probably wouldn't even load up the room itself and just crash the game.
The Sodden Hollow sounds so fucking amazing. It's my personal favorite teased song so far.
