Are SMB/super bandage girls really that good/useful? I've never fully built one before so I don't know SMB's power in the original. Or is it just for achievements/unlocks?
They are really good, but barring a game update, it generally isn't worth it to try to get them every time, mostly because you probably won't get four meat cubes or four bandage balls. If there was a guaranteed way to get them, then they would be worth it, but most of the time you're lucky to get a level 3 familiar, even with the book of revelations on floor 1. [editline]27th December 2014[/editline] Speaking of the SMB shit, I just made a full super meat boy for the first time, only to learn that there are separate achievements for making both meat boy and bandage girl. fuck
That new familiar, lil' brimstone, is one fucking useful guy. I won a run mainly because of him. Got some long room with this HUGE Larry Jr. spanning the whole length. Didn't see the whole thing because I precharged and BAM all of Larry explodes. God I love brimstone.
this has happened twice now
You're not alone in this
Am I a complete badass for beating family man on my first try or what? I didn't even have any great items. I got Conquest's pony in womb 1, which I guess helped. But I think my biggest help was a burnt penny + bogo bombs. I just spammed bombs as much as possible on the heart and isaac, and used bobby and maggy to push them toward the boss. But isn't challenge 11 supposed to unlock after you beat family man? I know I've definitely defeated loki at some point. Do you have to have actually picked up his horns at some point? Because I might not have done that yet.

So you can become even stronger
For the chain lightning item, I like the "120-volt" design best. It's simple, clean and it's clear that it's a tear change. Plus I think it looks cooler than having a box of wires on his head.
I personally like the wire dreads more.
Don't you just love it when runs give you everything you need? I'd been on a bad streak, which tends to happen since I started recording games. This time I decided not to record, all I wanted to do was beat Satan as Blue Baby. First item I get is Holy Mantle which is just incredible for Blue Baby. Got items that make soul hearts more common and a Halo. Gimpy, Lil Brimstone, Dark Matter, Guppy's Collar, Guppy's Head, Guppy's tail (to become Guppy in Sheol), Dark Bum, Goat's Head and Infamy. Plus that item that gives flight and spectral tears. Don't think I took any actual damage until after the womb, but even then I had so many spare soul hearts and Balls of Steel pills it never mattered. So satisfying. The worst part is when a run ends and you realise you should've taken the chance to do the boss rush room or mega Satan.
The last two nights, I've been playing movies in my second monitor while I continuously re-roll and re-attempt runs to get a super bandage girl. So far I've gotten through Nightmare Before Christmas, Dark Crystal, and The Fifth Element but still no super bandage girl.
All of which are devil room items. So how would you have fought mega satan?
you can open the door with dad's key, can't you? Can't believe this one achievement took three and a half movies. Now I can go back to the fun shit.
That new charging items bug kills me every time.
I think Azazel really fits my playstyle. I always liked brimstone and starting with it really helps. Also flight, god damn I love flight. Haven't unlocked D6 on rebirth yet so I think Azazel is going to be my goto instead of Cain (they also nerfed the foot so I am even less inclined to play him). First run with Azazel I got to boss rush, almost beat it but died when Death came. Next run I got Ludo which is fucking awesome and beat both boss rush and the game (well just mom's heart). [editline]28th December 2014[/editline] WAIT WAIT WAIT YOU CAN DROP TRINKETS/PILLS? COULD YOU DO THIS IN THE ORIGINAL SOMEONE TELL ME NOW PLEASE.
I've never even seen a boss rush room. I always take like five mins per floor at least. How do you guys do it?
I've never even seen a boss rush room. I always take like five mins per floor at least. How do you guys do it?
It's kinda the opposite for me, most of the time I get to mom before 16 minutes or bust. Anyway, just don't overspend your time, like I almost never bother with poop unless I can insta kill it, or knowing 99% sure where the secret room was.
Alright guys, I need some help. Afraid the wiki doesn't answer such specific questions. I'm on the quest of unlocking the D6, and just beat It Lives with ??? for the first time ever. Now I have a trap door and a light ray unlocked, plus a devil room with another trap door. I know that I need to kill Isaac in the cathedral with ??? to unlock D6, but I wonder what is the trap door in the devil room. Is it safe to take it and return back?
it's a trap door a normal trap door
Devil Room trap doors just lead to Sheol, like the one next to the beam of light. Other trap doors may lead to an item, the next floor or a secret shop.

I've always been a proponent of "be able to use multiple Spacebar items" concept, and being able to switch between two different ones at will increases what you can do during a fight, AND it means that if you have a good Spacebar and you open the Treasure Room only to find another Spacebar that isn't quite as good, it's not a wasted room because you can still equip that shit! Also, do both items charge upon room completion, or do you have to have one of the items at the forefront when the round ends?

Right now only the currently active spacebar item charges up but I'm working on that. Although maybe having both items gaining charge upon clearing a room might be a little bit overpowered, we'll see.

Had a nice run going as Azazel, completed the hardmode boss rush...then choked in the first room of utero. Aaaaand I just found out I didn't even need to do the boss rush on hard, I misread the requirements. I am not happy right now.
Other trap doors may lead to an item, the next floor or a secret shop.
The trap doors that have a ladder in them will take you to an item/black market, if it is just a black hole then it'll take you to the next floor
I just realised I've seen a black market once in 114 hours of playtime is it that rare or am I just unlucky? I've found tons of trap doors with ladders that lead me to an item/trinket but not black markets
With this, i only need to Beat the Lamb and Done!
I just coached a random friend on steam of mine in proper D20 abuse after he found it in a treasure room as Samson. I gave him the basics: Use it when stacking as many items as possible in a room. This includes taking pills from other rooms and dropping them in the room you're rerolling. Reroll the same room repeatedly for best results, and don't pick anything up unless it's to buy stuff or to reroll more. Since items can be rerolled into chests, you can progressively increase the amounts of items rerolled. Then he found the sharp plug. "Pick it up." - me "But I hate the sharp plug" - friend "It's the best synergy in the game - pick it up. Seriously." This is especially true since he had little chad and child's heart. Well, to cut a long story short, he spends an entire hour rerolling a challenge room in the womb, only to end up with 20 lives (x2 dead cats, ankh, and life up), ipecac, holy mantle, bob's brain, pyromaniac, mom's eye (shots from the back of the head), cricket's body, cricket's head, the mirror, and tammy's head. Every single use of Tammy's head summoned 8 gigantic exploding tears that turned into 32 smaller exploding tears.
"I forgot I had to work today, fuckin', just take these or whatever" [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/548643366318589752/C8D7D972BA5FF232121F103BF47CC2039412D03C/[/t]
This is way too much fun to be nerfed.
Yep, it's definitely a fun item. Tons more room for build variety, inertia of progression, and general all-around fun.
