I've beaten the boss rush with half of a heart remaining...to end up stepping on a red poop while trying to exit the room.
Red poops in the boss rush room are why I play with max gamma now, my colorblindness is at it's worst when multiple dark colors are involved.
Holy shit why is the Bloat such a terribly designed boss. There's no telegraphing on his eye laser attacks, and the attack conveniently shoots in 3/4 cardinal directions, the exact same directions you tend to shoot. The worst part about the eye lasers is their disjointed hitbox. Since they're modeled flat, but actually aim sever feet below their box, so I get hit all the fuckin time for no reason.

It seems for whatever reason they decided to make the shadow the hitbox. It creates a weird situation with Technology where you can shoot over rocks from a certain side and hit everything but then your shot will be completely blocked from the other. Just me talking out of my ass though so it might not actually be this way with anything other than ipecac.
Hitbox is definitely the shadow, if you control Ludo with the mouse you can see that the shadow is in the center, not the tear as for bloat, he can't shoot up, that doesn't make him any less of a shitty boss tho
Why the hell do paralysis and r u a wizard still appear if you have the PhD?
Why the hell do paralysis and r u a wizard still appear if you have the PhD?
PhD doesn't prevent neutral pills from appearing.
PhD doesn't prevent neutral pills from appearing.
Paralysis isn't exactly neutral tbh [editline]5th January 2015[/editline] Well, assuming you indeed have the PhD it might be, seeing as you just wouldn't take it.

Well, Mom's Heart is trickier when you roll as Azazel, if only due to the short range.
Just like any explosive enemy on the first floors. Gotta be careful aiming or else it'll blow up in your face.
Funnily enough I don't have that problem too much as Azazel. I usually keep a good distance before I blow up an enemy.
First time I played as Lost just now. Got up to the Depths 2 in 16 minutes and got Brimstone + Ludovico and all three Technology items before that. Tried to do the boss rush. Died to Red Poop. Red Poop is the most dangerous obstacle in the game bar none. Honestly I find it dumb that you can't fly over it since you can fly over regular poop.

An activateable that gives you Brimstone for a room? Sounds interesting, although it'd need to be more common than Brimstone and possibly cheaper, at least to balance it out in the face of the item that just gives it to you passively and costs 2 Heart Containers.

I think that would have to have a longer cooldown, right? I mean, the four way brimstone item is six rooms, and that's only a one use item (even if it does more damage). Still, your work is fuckin rad.

I finally found a (really hacky) way to add new items without overriding existing ones, so I thought I'd start with something simple. It's going to be a devil room item that costs 1 heart, and I'll probably add it to the curse room and red chest item pools as well. I'm also tempted to give it an increased chance for devil rooms like the Book of Belial, since it's used in a very similar way.
Nerfing items in single player is fine if they go after items whose enchantments are "Win this run 20 minutes from now" It's like the same argument against using cheats in other games, the game stops being fun when you can only fail if you try The only way you could lose with Krampus head was if you were a glass cannon/didn't time your charges for boss rooms
and? nothing about that changed, except that now you have to exclusively use it for boss rooms and can't have fun with it; if i get lucky with shops and coin drops and lower the charge to be able to use it in every room then why should i not be allowed to do that in a single player game where the entire point is to be as broken as possible; why not nerf the jera blank card and other game breaking things then i just don't see the point
krampus head had no drawback other than taking up the active slot, now it requires synergy to be insane, same with all the other stuff in the game The entire point of the game isn't to be as broken as possible, it's about playing a roguelike and getting excited when you get cool items that synergize to be insanely broken. If being broken was the point of the game then we'd all be playing BASE MENT or running with cheat engine or something
I think balance changes are fine, even though this game is single player. But they really should take it in small steps, for example making Head of Krampus a 4 room charge instead of 3, and making Krampus appear less often. Right now the main problem is that Krampus appears too frequently, which made his head obtainable in almost every run. Of course the point of the game is to get powerful, and in a lot of cases you have to be overpowered to beat the Chest or Dark Room. The fun is getting multiple items that when combined make you overpowered, not just one item. Sure things like the wafer, dark bum, and holy mantle are really powerful on their own, but those items also appear far less frequently than Krampus, so they're more of a nice treat when they do appear.
