And there are a lot of spacebar items that do deal damage.[/QUOTE] there will no doubt be better spacebar items, it'll just be one of those items you take because why not, a convenient tool to have that creates more overall variety in the game. one of the cool things about isaac is dealing with what the game throws at you, even if this item isn't top tier i'm glad it's in the game.

And there are a lot of spacebar items that do deal damage.[/QUOTE] Survive entering curse rooms with only 1 heart container Bring more than 1 heart's worth of health into a boss gauntlet Bonus health for when you want to trigger on-hit effects Drag heart drops into rooms with other item drops for the D20 Carry hearts to the next floor if you can't find a use for them Drag heart drops out of the womb variant top secret room without needing to burn through bombs as quickly Bring hearts that are normally out of reach into reachable areas if you use a 1-time flight item to store them It's not exactly as amazing to exploit as the D6 but there are ways to make it work in your favor.

It'll probably be used for convenience on the floor its on mostly if the player already has a good spacebar item, like the blood donation bag.

The base game, pre-Halloween, had the D6 as the end-all unlock item as a reward for defeating It Lives with ???. May I remind you that, at the time, he had literally only 1 good thing going for him (entering gauntlet rooms regardless of health). When Halloween rolled around a few items got added that synergized super well with ???'s state as well as extending the game's end beyond what was previously known. Then Wrath of the Lamb came around and tossed everything up into the air again. If he wants luck manipulation to be an endgame reward as it was in the original release, expect the D6 and D20 to be rewards for clearing either Cathedral/Chest or the Sheol counterparts.

All of which were added on a whim by the developers as fun easter eggs or ways to challenge yourself. I'd imagine that a stereoscopic display on a regular monitor would be a challenge. Or perhaps it's one of the new curses, we'll find out later.

Makes you wonder what other characters are being touched up. We know Bloody Lust is being overhauled but not how. We know that the D6 will be unlocked in a different way (and probably not as a starting item since Ed's alluded to people not being able to just roll with Isaac+D6 until they get platinum god). ??? and Judas seem fine as they are. That leaves Maggie and Eve from the base game. Dead Bird's AI is probably going to be less derpy and thus more helpful but Maggie is still left in the dust. Maggie is easy to use when learning the game but the extra health is most-useful when trading it for damaging items, which is only made more difficult by being too slow to evade damage to qualify for devil deals. The item in that room looks much much more like a Devilish Bum Friend. People have been talking about him since last week's images showed him. I'm interested in what the other devil room item is. Can't really tell what it is just by looking at it, it kinda looks like a belt with a heart-shaped buckle but that sounds absurd and besides we have no basis on which to guess what it'd do anyway. Isaac seems to start with a key instead of a bomb now. I know the video doesn't start off in the starting room but there's extremely little chance of him finding a gold chest on his first room and getting a single bomb out of it. Many sound effects are very quiet, it's not the video maker tinkering with the sound effect volumes because some of the SFX are normal volume while things like the soul heart pickup and planting a bomb are near inaudible. New enemy type seems to be identical to Lumps but fires 1 blood tear instead of 3. Oh those annoying-ass Lumps. I'm excited to see more varied Secret room contents. The music fits well. Spider Butt doesn't seem to have been buffed much at all, but the new effect on-use is neat. Monstro seems weird without that comical BLAAARG that we're so used to when he vomits blood at you. It'll grow on us for sure. The visual=distorting shockwave when he crashes down to terra firma is a nice touch. Also he's way tanker than before, Monstro fights rarely take as long as the video shows unless you're Eve on the first floor, and just look at how little damage Spider Butt did to his healthbar. Blood Clot is going to be among the preferred Boss Room rewards since damage ups aren't too common to come by. Our current damage-up boss pool consists of Pentagram, Jesus Juice, and MEAT! but only Pentagram is intended as a damage up, the other two are merely erroneous. Both Pentagram and Jesus Juice are also special items, making it even harder to come across them in the flash game. We have heard consideration of abolishing that special stat due to the sheer number of items available, it'd be incredibly improbable to stack too many really good items together in the first place without being lucky or abusing the dice. The only thing we know about item interactions is that high-tier tear changers won't be able to mesh much with each other if at all. Stuff like Brimstone + Mom's Knife or Epic Fetus + Technology. Am liking where the info text is being displayed upon-pickup. It's more intuitive to check right under the name instead of darting your eye to the bottom corner, potentially missing it if you're not attentive. Tune in next week for me to over-analyze another bit of information.
Well, having seen actual game footage I still don't like the new graphics style, the flash version was cleaner and nicer looking. But hey, gameplay is more important in games I suppose, so I still can't wait.

It being hand-drawn or pixelart has no real bearing on whether it's unsettling to you methinks, the janky proportions of the character seem more of a loop than anything else. His head just seems much rounder and bigger now while his body seems smaller. I know the larger head real-estate is to give them more room to make cosmetic head changes but it feels a little unsettling adjusting to someone with a differently-shaped body, especially their head. We've grown used to it, but the old Isaac has no neck at all, it's just jarring seeing the transition. He still has no nose and his mouth and eyes are almost at the same level but his body at least has somewhat realistic proportions now (sans giant head). Also as a personal gripe, the position that he holds new items above his head looks way off. He's holding them in front of his face instead of aloft so we can see his cheerful smile for that brief second of item attainment briefly before it turns back into a tortured frown once more.
I like the way Rebirth seems to be much darker, current Isaac floors are all very bright. The pixel style doesn't work well for larger resolutions though, it just makes it look low quality. I also don't like how Monstro's face when he throws up blood still is very goofy looking, but his voice doesn't reflect that.
