Oh really? Because you need atleast an i7-2600K/AMD FX-4150 or better, 8 GB ram, and a 2GB DX11 card to completely max out FC3. Which means your computer would be able to launch Far Cry 4.
I practically maxed out FC3 (sans AA) on a 1GB 6870, i5760 and 4GB of ram.
With framerates hovering in the high fifties.
Here are my specs that are now apparently useless for any new games.

I don't know what you are trying to imply, but yes, you specs are pretty much useless.

Are you really expecting to run any new games well with a Core 2 Duo?
Are you really expecting to run any new games well with a Core 2 Duo?
Literally, I've had NO issues in maxing any games except for huge simulations. This is the first time I've even had to look at my specs in relation to a new blockbuster game.

What games have you been playing?
I was waiting till after release because the PC ports of Watch_Dogs and Unity made me nervous, but after reading the last two pages of this thread I know I'm doomed to be out another 70 bucks when I get home
Far Cry 3 ran beautifully on my GTX 570 & i7 rig
So, apparently, FC4 isn't released yet. It still says it isn't release, despite it being the 18th...
Would this cut it, and if, what quality? sorry im computer incompetent

Not on those specs you're not. Define maxed out?

yes
So I heard mouse acceleration is really bad in this game. Can anyone confirm this?
So I heard mouse acceleration is really bad in this game. Can anyone confirm this?
Yes, but the fix that worked in FC3 works in FC4
Apparently it doesn't.
yes
Am I barely making the cut or could I keep a steady frame rate at medium

Go to options>Graphics> and then I pull all the sliders to the right (Max). That is how I define max.
As far as the games I've done this to;
Far Cry 3, Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Crysis 2, Space Engineers (though that one tends to slow me down)
So I heard mouse acceleration is really bad in this game. Can anyone confirm this?
It's "negative mouse acceleration" apparently. I was able to kind of make it minimal by turning on regular mouse acceleration and sorta making the two cancel out.
Still BS and they could easily fix that shit in a patch.
[editline]boop[/editline]
I'm getting a lot of artifacts when I play Unity, Watch Dogs, and Far Cry 4 in SLI but not really any other games. Are these game specific issues or do I have a bad GPU/Sli bridge?
Am I barely making the cut or could I keep a steady frame rate at medium
Medium-High. I've got just slightly weaker specs and I'm running it easy.

You don't meet the system requirements to run Crysis 2 maxed out becuase you don't have a DX11 card, 6GB ram, and not enough VRAM for the high res textures. Lets not forget about features like AA, Vsync, AO, ect.
You can't max out far cry 3 because you don't have a DX11 card, and those same features you can't run. Same goes of Borderlands 2, you need a quad core to max it out.
You haven't been maxing out games, if you we're you'd be running them at 5 FPS.
idk whats up with this, I could max far cry 3 and get 60fps but this is just stuttering like fuck on medium, this is pretty awful.

Really this is besides the point, even though I do remember playing those with the sliders to the right.
The main point is: Far Cry 3 - Runs with no issue no lag. Far Cry 4 - Impossible to run, won't even open.

Maybe you should have read the system requirements before you bought the game. Your CPU is a dual core, you're lucky it ran Far Cry 3.

Is there some sort of financial wizardry I can do in order to replace my CPU and run Far Cry 4?

maybe instead of buying Far Cry 4 on release date you should have saved up for a new cpu

You need a new motherboard to get a new CPU, which means you need new ram.

I have money for a CPU, I just don't know which one to buy. Hardware is like witchcraft to me. I am asking for a reccomendation given my specs. What cpu would you advise me to get?

I've been planning on upgrading my CPU, you can get an i7 3770k + mb + new ram for under £400 which isn't that bad.
Even then tbh, I already have an i7 and even on low im still getting stuttering issues. with 6gb of ram and a 770 with 4gb vram this is p.shit and im not even sure a new cpu would fix this.
I've got an i5-4690K, GTX 760 4GB and 8GB of ram. My game runs between 50-70 FPS at medium-high settings, and the game still looks fantastic.

I'd say for a brand new pc around 1200-1300 Dollars.
For an upgrade to my existing specs; 600-800 dollars
