Speaking of FOV, I'm curious because I never bothered to find out - why is it that the setting is usually locked on consoles? Is it the generalization that the player won't be so close to the screen? It was nice to see it there in GTA.
So, just played the hunt for the rare honey badger. And oh, my god, they set it up perfectly. [sp]When you first select the quest, you've got to select it four times. You're asked stuff like "Are you sure?" "Are you really sure?" "Are you insane?" "Any last words?" You go to the location to gear up, not knowing what weapon you're using, and find a scene of carnage. There's a car on fire, its driver dead, and a crate on the ground next to it. You realize with dawning horror that they expect you to hunt this rare honey badger with a fucking LMG. As you enter the area in which it roams, death and desolation are everywhere. Unnumbered corpses, dead wolves, leopards, even a goddamn rhino, and several small fires burn around the area. Pretty sure I saw a fallen tree. When you finally find the thing, it has a special attack that can one-hit you. It soaks up a LOT of damage and still keeps coming. That was terrifying. [/sp]
I actually got really lucky when doing this one. [sp]When I did the mission, I ran up in to the temple, saw the snakes, and immediately just lobbed grenades in. A moment later I heard a villager outside talking and yelling and ran back out. Right at the bottom of the stairs was the villager being attacked by the honey badger. I just unloaded in to it from above while it was distracted, then was able to backpedal away quickly before it got too close.[/sp]
Yep. That's only supposed to happen when you take it too high. On the subject of rotary-winged aircraft, I'll admit I'm very disappointed. It'd have been SO much cooler if they handled realistically. I guess Ubisoft didn't think that semi-realistic helicopter controls would be accessible to most people. Oh, well.
It happens based on height and flying too close to bell towers...to force you to land and manually climb them instead of flying to the top. There are also plenty of ridges that are above the height limit to corral you into taking specific paths. I understand having limits at the edges of the game world, but I was hoping for more freedom within the world.
Got the game through with a new nvidia card, I was wondering if I'm missing something regarding the DLC - there should be extra missions and signature weapons but they don't seem to be in the game. Anyone know what the issue is or had a similar problem?
It happens based on height and flying too close to bell towers...to force you to land and manually climb them instead of flying to the top.
Nope, that's completely false. I've flown the heli into a bell tower and landed inside at the very top multiple times and been able to take off from inside again just fine every time.
I think it is based on height and in addition there are parts of the terrain that they just don't want you flying over I really loved being able to use it to fly to bell towers though, made logical sense and I was happy they didn't arbitrarily limit it [editline]20th November 2014[/editline] Also, I would pay good money for a DLC to join Pagan Min and have an alternate storyline. I have like, absolutely no motivation to join the Golden Path, and [sp]events in the story really make me despise them[/sp], like why should I want to join these guys? Just because they were founded by my father or something? Pagan Min is no doubt a brutal dictator, but before you go and join the Golden Path, he's never rude, or malicious, or outwardly aggressive in any way towards you. He practically treats you like his best friend. For that matter, even a few of his underling leaders are charismatic in their own right. When you join the Golden Path, you are immediately thrust into their problems and firefights, and treated derisively by their members. You didn't join them so much as they kidnapped you from De Pleur's fortress. I just felt like I had no motivation to join the Golden Path at all, and the [sp]15 minute alternate ending is in my mind the good ending for the whole thing.[/sp] End rant.
Yeah, the game gives you no specific reason to join the Golden Path, and even Ajay himself reflects on this on several occasions. He really has no reason for fight for them, he doesn't exactly want to, he is just hell bent on doing whatever is necessary to fulfill the last wish of his mother. [sp]At some point he does kinda get determined to kill Pagan Min, about the time you get captured by him and Yuma, but even then he still doesn't care about the Golden Path all that much.[/sp] And the commanders in Pagan Min's regime are all sympathetic in some regard. Paul [sp]yeah he's crazy and does evil shit, but he also has a family that cares and depends on him, and when he is captured you can see that the one thing that truly upsets him is that he can't be there with his daughter. (Seriously, I already knew Paul had a family so I wasn't exactly on the most solid moral ground about going after him, but hearing this moments before aggressive and defiant guy suddenly turn around and start pleading and almost sobbing about his daughter was the first time I really thought "No, fuck everyone here.")[/sp] Noore [sp]is arguably the most sympathetic character in the whole game. She doesn't want to be there at all, she doesn't want anything to do with Min, she just thinks that she might be able to save her family. And while its hard to say that justifies her actions, she nonetheless doesn't want to do it and in the end it clearly has broken her will to live.[/sp] Yuma [sp]is fucking crazy, but she was in love with Pagan Min and was heart broken over what she perceived as a betrayal for basically the enemy. And she's not quite so directly terrible. She drugs everyone she touches, but by and large she isn't shown doing a whole lot worse than that.[/sp] Pagan Min [sp] is himself not that bad of a guy, when you realize that the Golden Path are pretty terrible, he's actually not quite the horrific monster he was made out to be, he's actually pretty genuinely nice to you, and really doesn't do a whole lot to escalate or create conflict himself and with all the things between him, Mohan Ghale, and Ajay's mother, he's got some good personal reasons for hating the Golden Path.[/sp] I think we very well might see DLC based around fighting for Min himself, although I can't imagine it'll have a lot of content given how, when Ajay arrives, the Golden Path are largely confined to a few villages in the southern region. Jesus Christ, it looks like a damned CIA document. Everything is redacted.
For some reason whenever I capture a belltower it resets my FOV, anyone else get this?
I want to continue playing, but this PS4 installation is taking forever! Anyone else have this long ass installation after the prologue?
I'd rather side with Pagan Min. I'm sick of hearing the same radio broadcaster over and over and over. They really could have invested more time into the radio aspect seeing as how you're going to be driving a lot anyway.
at which point do i unlock the arena? right now im just doing mostly every mission i see but i kind of feel like im either doing them in the wrong order ( since i end up with enemies that shred me to death ) in no time or..dunno

It's such a handy word" shut up ray go fuck your bidet
So, before I get this, I want to make sure of one thing (because I'll get it on Xbox 360 if I do, because a friend of mine has a 360 and I'd rather coop than graphics). How stripped down is the 360 version? What's bad about it that I should know?
how the fuck do i use mines and shit everyone keeps telling me to plant mines but i have no idea how.
how the fuck do i use mines and shit everyone keeps telling me to plant mines but i have no idea how.
if you're on PC i think they and c4 are set to 9 and 0 on your keyboard
I learned the hard way you can kill your own elephant. RIP:suicide:
if anybody's here got an AMD card and is having stuttering/high frametimes (spikes to 100ms or so), get radeonpro and set FlipQueueSize to 3. fixed it for me. r9 280 OC, running on ultra @ 50~60fps with SMAA. nice and smooth.
anyone have this on ps3 wanna wreck some shit in coop? my name is RhinocerosRex

So what's the verdict? Would someone who thought Far Cry 3 was alllright have fun dishing out 60 for this game? Does it run better? Is it possible to make the viewmodel FOV higher like you could a few months into Fc3's life?

just uh just casually hunting y'know [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/wZPJsqR.jpg[/thumb]
Is anyone up for playing some coop on PC? just PM me.
Welp, the game runs like absolute ass and I can't get it to go over 20 FPS. That's really weird because FC3 ran perfectly fine.

this game is terribly unoptimized
Make sure your drivers are up to date. [editline]21st November 2014[/editline]
Completely updated. I've done everything to try to make this game run well but nope
