basically nothing
Far cry 1 had like mutants and shit halfway through the game and i had no idea what was going on when i played it the first time around when it first came out [editline]2nd December 2014[/editline] aint none of that mutant shit in any far cry since (except the xbox only titles like Far Cry instincts) [editline]2nd December 2014[/editline] Thinking back to those Xbox Only titles i remember some crazy custom maps people made. someone made a pirate wars type map like the one in Gmod except it was in the sky and they were sky ships, but my favourite was a race map someone made where it was just a massive cavern that was steep as fuck and you would hop on jet skis at the top and slide all the way down shooting each other. Can't find any videos of those specific maps but they were some of the best custom maps I remember playing since the starwarz maps in CS 1.4/1.5

The only real connection I can see with the first game is the quasi-paranormal stuff the character goes through in FC3 and 4 towards the mid/endgame. Although in FC4, in the MP description anyway they seem to go to pains to say that everything is related to drugs and not goasts. [editline]2nd December 2014[/editline]
There is a MP5. Only difference is that it doesn't have the flashlight.
Ajay also seems to have a little headlamp on him all the time so having a flashlight on the gun isn't that helpful.
Far cry = fun power fantasy interrupted by weird shit. I just wish these recent ones didn't have to go "lol its just drugs its not real" and actually took some damn risks. We've got the Uncharted series for that bullshit.
I just got to north and holy shit it's way more sniper friendly than south. First thing I did was take over the fortress without really even getting near it [editline]3rd December 2014[/editline] Also I never realized how fucking expensive sniper rifle ammo is before
Far cry = fun power fantasy interrupted by weird shit. I just wish these recent ones didn't have to go "lol its just drugs its not real" and actually took some damn risks. Okay yeah. My real wish is that they'd either go 100% or keep things grounded. The game always falls apart when they try and ground the absurd shit.
I didn't like the mutant part of FC1

And that was still "lol it's just drugs" Yeah, they were super Spielberg drugs that made mother fuckers damn near bullet proof, but that was how they legitimized it. Badger, it was fucking PCP from tree sap, did you forget that?
I didn't like the mutant part of FC1
I always felt it was crippled by making you encounter the mutants earlier than you should. The first area where you really encounter mutants? The one that seems like jurassic park? It seems that way because it was supposed to house dinosaurs earlier in development. The mutants were the result of them crossing dino DNA with human DNA.
I know but a tactical flashlight makes it cooler. Even though Kyrat appears to be in a perpetual day time state anyway.
Wait, are you just saying the night cycle isn't dark enough?
Is there anyway to rebind the wingsuit button? Getting real sick of trying to DFA a guy only to brain myself on a wall because I had the audacity to be sprinting BEFORE I jumped.
Anyone else try the battle of kyrat mode? It could be pretty fun if it wasn't so rough. Also the rakshasa seem way over powered compared to the golden path.
Wait, are you just saying the night cycle isn't dark enough?
Feels like finnish summer at times
Also there are at least two gliders that are set to crash immediately upon takeoff. Eeeeyyyyy playtesting.
Lots of the gyrocopters also launch instantly in to air too
Feels like finnish summer at times
Or Alaska. fucking 1 AM and the sun is still up. Nights aren't that dark in Kyrat, but I don't imagine they would be up there.how much room does the sun have to set when you're so close to earth's rotational axis?
Just picked this up for the PS4 on the way back from work. I enjoyed FC3 but never completed it for some reason, but I'll definitely be finishing this.
So this isn't news but I just encountered two missions that perfectly illustrate just how much Far Cry 4 holds your hand. One mission I had to burn things. Surrounding the person you need to talk to are molotovs, a flame thrower and other stuff. After you talk to them, they say: "Hey make sure you pick up some flammables!" and add a mission waypoint. Then as you leave their house, a guard outside who I assume was an evesdropping Pagan Minh scumbag says "Hey make sure to take some flammable weapons on your mission!" and gestures to the flamethrowers and molotovs near HIM as well. When I finally get to the place I have to burn, guess what I find! FUCKING FLAMETHROWER AND AMMO JUST LAYING AROUND NEAR THE FLAMMABLE SHIT. Oh, and guess what? The bad guys were nice enough to put gigantic fuel drums right next to the thing I need to blow up and in one case, literally parked a fucking fuel truck on top of it a well! What the fuck is the case of nagging and whining and bitching at the player if you just accommodate even the most inattentive moron on the planet? They may as well have just said: "You really don't need to bring anything with you, I'm sure Pagan's army of retards have probably left something laying around that you can use." Now contrast that to Far Cry 2. If you needed to blow something up, or burn something you actually did need to bring something with you more often than not. And even if you didn't, you actually had to USE YOUR EYES to find the thing that could be exploited or burned. And a lot of times those objects only had limited reach, so you had to improvise. Additionally, they made ammo crates a viable and fun way to cause destruction and distract enemies in interesting ways. Shooting/burning a regular ammo box caused the round to cook off and fire in all directions. Shooting/burning a special ammo box caused even more fire to spew out as well as rockets and shit to fire off. But Ubisoft seems to be drifting further and further away from rewarding their players for intuition and instead chooses to dumb everything down the point where potentially great set pieces become hyper easy, and boring. Same thing for the "economy". In FC2 getting new weapons was sort of hard. You either found diamonds, or you did missions. In FC4 You open a single chest and loot a few of people and get enough money for a gun and maybe a mod . This also goes hand in hand with what they have done with player vs enemy interactions. In FC2, enemies were highly reactive. You set a fire; they would notice and run, you could also wound them pretty easily, which was also a really neat mechanic as both the wounded NPC and the healthy ones would try to get the wounded guy to safety. They also felt more rewarding to kill. In FC3, they made wounding much more difficult and most of the time, you would just outright kill them in like 1-2 shots. In FC4, the same thing goes. Something else I just now thought about is that I have played FC3 and FC4 progressively less stealthy than I did FC2. Even with FC4's attempt to cram stealth gameplay down your throat with missions like bomb defuse and hostage rescue, they almost always give you a second chance if you fuck up/don't bother. Stealth in bomb defuse missions is a fucking joke. I literally just walk in and not bother and can kill every single enemy with plenty of time to spare on the count down. I can just imagine what the soldiers are thinking: Quick, Ajay Ghale is here! Set the timers for 60 seconds! there is no way he can kill us all! Why wouldn't they just blow up the crates once they knew they shit was hitting the fan? It's not like they were actually setting the bombs in place when you show up. Also, especially because of how unlock driven this game is and because the signature weapons are no longer exploration based why the hell would I want to waste time stealthing shit when I just want to get X or Y gun? For increased XP and Money? LOL As if those two resources are actually hard to get. Why did they replace an interesting mechanics and enemies that were fun to fight with a bunch of paper targets? Had to get that out. [editline]3rd December 2014[/editline]
Lots of the gyrocopters also launch instantly in to air too
Have any of you been inexplicably thrown backwards like 100 feet and almost killed? Had that happen to me a couple times just walking down a trail. My wrist was also twisted around like a thousand times apparently.
I occasionally will get in a glided and the thing will immediately tip and flip over completely without getting any air. Its funny but painful.
Had that happen to me once, got in a glider, immediately spit me out, glider sailed 5 feet forward, did a front flip, then nose dived down the cliff.
Had that happen to me once, got in a glider, immediately spit me out, glider sailed 5 feet forward, did a front flip, then nose dived down the cliff.
I've had it immediately eject me on a couple of occasions, but on several others it actually held on to me and just wedged itself upside in the cliff face with me still stuck in it.
Any way to skip cinematics yet? They are so unbearably long and uninteresting 90% of the time
I remember grappling up while running and Ajay ended up spinning around at light speed for a minute.
A hardcore mod for Far Cry 4 would be really cool.
FC3 is a lot more fun with Ziggy's mod or another equivalent overhaul. I hope they make some of those mods for 4.

I had that exact same thing happen, and the flysuit broke after it, only hovered in place for a second when trying to use it
