big bump (apologies). Gamescom revealed a ton of new info for FC4 - new features and new locations revealed. The hype is real
Honestly so stocked
didn't there used to be a far cry general? ah well, doesn't really matter at this point, FC4 is looking fantastic though.
Apparently, Vehicles are going to be useable in the Far Cry 4 multiplayer, and that includes Custom Maps.
Am I alright to post about previous Far Cry games in here or just 4? as i'm just wondering if anyone has the same problem as me, no matter how I play Blood Dragon with a headset or through speakers the game is just so quiet... everything on my pc's audio is set to the max and the speakers volume knobs too but still quiet?
You may of or may not of seen these trailers.
Good weapon animations are my jam. The gun could be the lowest poly piece of shit ever, but if it has nice, fluid, and sorta flashy animation, I'll love it.
repeated weapons galore
To be fair there is a handful of new weapons shown in that video and in others. We don't really know what the full line up will truly be. I think its acceptable for low-class weapons like AK47s to be in, as realistically those are thrown all around the globe. I suspect either all FC3's weapons with a healthy selection of new FC4 weapons, or a mostly new arsenal with a few FC3 ones where they felt fitting (AR-15/P416, AK47, and the pump action shotgun shown)
Instead of the AK47 (AKM), they should have the Type-56.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gm3lUk_QSM Game looks cooler and cooler with every trailer. Silenced shotguns, awesome animals, and all kinds of crazy action scenes. Dafuq how do you add a video to your post, isnt working out for me.
Not long now! Tec-9, my favorite.
New video, and a nice choice of music.
That was a lovely version of the song but do we already know which edition of the game will have the Troy Baker villain?
I like Gambino but that said I think the song can fit it. That song didn't fit when you're sneaky around
It's getting closer! And some multiplayer info:
In “Battles of Kyrat”, the Far Cry® 4 world is shown in a completely different way. The player’s battles take on the form of a re-telling of a long-past war that Pagan Min’s elite guard, the Rakshasa, fought against the Golden Path rebellion. Each faction has their own unique set of weapons and skills and players will have to adapt to their strengths and weaknesses while making their own progress within this multiplayer mode. The Rakshasa are the mythical warriors of Kyrat with strong ties to their natural surroundings. They can call upon animals to help in both defending and attacking positions. The Rakshasa only use traditional weapons, specifically the bow, but are capable of crafting multiple alterations to their weapons. On the other hand, the Golden Path is all about its arsenal: guns, vehicles and tech-enhanced capabilities. They have access to a variety of weapon types, including assault rifles, shotguns, and multiple explosives. Finally, the Golden Path has access to bell towers, allowing them to spot the hidden enemy from far away. The PvP mode consists of: • 5v5 round-based matches. • Asymmetrical gameplay where the players take on each faction. The team with the best overall performance on both wins the match. • 20 minutes average match length. • 10 maps at launch. • 3 modes: • Outpost - the Golden Path works to establish an outpost in the region while the Rakshasa has to get rid of them and secure the outpost for Pagan Min. • Propaganda - the Golden Path has to destroy three Pagan Min installations while the Rakshasa protects them. • Demon Mask - both sides have to find the mask and return it to their home base.
Played a demo of this, the map looks awesome but the performance was really, really shit on a PS4. The helicopter was unflyable due to 5fps framerates but sneaking around on foot was just as fun as FC3. Hoping the framerate issues were only because it was an old build or something.
I'm not too sure if i'll like the Multiplayer, only three modes and 5 vs 5? That's kinda disappointing for me. And not much information about the Map Editor when it comes to Multiplayer either.

And for the Map editor it's probably same with some added things as FC3, at least they've added so you can have Vehicles in multiplayer maps. We'll probably get some footage of the editor soon™
So the Map Editor doesn't support PVP
But Alex Hutchinson has now said that multiplayer map maker support may be added after release. "I direct the game but I don't set budgets or timelines," Hutchinson explained via Twitter. "We always squeeze in as much as we can, but we're always prioritising. "We're going to keep supporting the game so hopefully we can get it done post release. No promises but we will try."

I direct the game but I don't set budgets or timelines

or timelines

we can get it done post release.
It may just be the map editor, but words like this are really leading to Ubisoft games filling me with such boundless optimism :v: Games that are released when the developers think they are ready... ahhh, they're sometimes good. Isn't the embargo up today? http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-11-14-far-cry-4-map-editor-doesnt-support-competitive-multiplayer
So what the hell can you do with the map editor then?
Challenge maps it says. Assault(kill all people), Hunt(kill all animals), Outpost(capture an outpost) and Extraction(get from point A to B the quickest). Ionno about you but hey they are putting less emphasis on the multiplayer hopefully to make the single player the best it can be. ubisoft pls
Reviews are coming in: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/481123/far-cry-4-review-round-up-ubisofts-sequel-earns-mountains-of-praise/
CVG: 9/10 - "The strength of the world and its systems alone makes this one of the year's best games and one whose enormous potential for experimentation means you'll playing it well into 2015. By taking things to the Himalayas, Ubisoft Montreal has managed to skilfully weave an attractive partnership of awe-inspiring landscape and exhilarating, surprising action." GamesRadar: 4/5 - "Far Cry 3 remains the series' peak, but Far Cry 4 is a lovely-looking, accomplished offering that suffers from lacklustre writing and an odd lack of purpose." VideoGamer: 8/10 - "Far Cry 4 is a superb Skinner box, staving off monotony with constant upgrades, and it's so expertly crafted to appeal to baser instincts, so rewarding of you embracing them, that there's a strong chance you'll miss the broader point that all of what you're doing is utterly despotic." Joystiq: 4.5/5 - "There's a staggering number of adventures to extract from Far Cry 4, whether you chase the ones laid out by the game explicitly, or the ones that develop naturally as you take in the sights. It's another interesting and absorbing world to fall into, shoot through, burn and then guide to new beginnings. Far Cry 4 may have installed a despot, but it's still the undisputed king of the open-world shooter." IGN: No score (review in progress) - "Diversity is one of Far Cry 4's strongest assets, and it overwhelms the mostly disappointing story with countless opportunities for free-form adventure and fun." Destructoid: 9/10 - "Far Cry 4 could have all of the multiplayer elements stripped away and it would still be a very strong game. If you enjoyed its predecessor and didn't grow tired of Ubisoft Montreal's open world formula, you'll have a blast living the experience again." GameSpot: No score (review in progress) - "Far Cry 4 can be amazing in the way Far Cry 3 often was: the heated action and exploratory freedom inspires thrilling personal stories for remembering later, the kind that start with "Hey, remember that time..." and end with "...and wasn't it awesome?!" It retains most of what made Far Cry 3 amazing, but the potential greatness is burdened by an even worse story, less memorable missions, and a formula suffering from years of overuse." Eurogamer: 8/10 - "Far Cry 4 does all the things that its predecessor did and more - more weapons, more vehicles, more modes, more ground to cover - so if all you're looking for is a big old wide open space to tear up with a friend, go forth and make merry with mortar. That said, more does not necessarily mean better, and the truth is that the wilds of Kyrat simply aren't as beguiling as the Rook Islands were. Far Cry 4 is well worth a visit, but it's more a backpacker's delight than a five-star island paradise." Metro: 9/10 - "Far Cry 4 might not be doing anything terribly new but it does do almost everything it sets out to extremely well. And there's few games, no matter what they are, that can ever say that." The Guardian: 5/5 - "Far Cry 4 truly shines in the almost bacchanalian sense of freedom it bestows on the player as they traverse through its environment. In Kyrat you have the ability to go anywhere and do pretty much anything - much as Pagan Min would advocate. Here, the only pact you need keep is that with your conscience. God help you."
Man I really hope the PC version is well optimized.
i don't think you really should play far cry for the story, since the only real good one was the first one. the others mostly focused on the open-world-and-do-crazy-shit experience. that being said it will be fun to co-op. i just hope this has better optimization than ac unity.
So what the hell can you do with the map editor then?
SP Missions finally making an appearance? Even if not, I never published a single one of my FC3 maps, I had tons more fun making giant detailed worlds and just messing around with NPC
For anyone who pre-ordered Far Cry 4 on steam, the preload is now available.
