plat is pretty much "get stuff faster". You still have to level your weapons, find mods etc. Everything except color schemes is available through void\alerts\market blueprints.

Hehh, all I could afford with the starting plat is one more warframe slot and 4 more weapon slots I think, far from enough.

I'm with the idea is that you're not so much 'getting things faster' when you buy platinum, rather that it's a perk to supporting a game you enjoy. Which I'll admit is a bit of a saccharine view to the F2P model, but there's truth to it in my opinion.
I mean, if you don't really like the game all that much and it's something you play like... A couple hours a week, yeah, don't bother putting any money into it. But if you put in like, 50 hours and are still getting enjoyment out of it? Toss 'em some money (Finances willing of course.), keeps the game alive longer, you get purdy monies and you're supporting a game you (Hopefully.) enjoy.
That, of course, is just my take on it anyway.

Honestly? With all of this resource shit and research, I'd rather buy the game than spend points that I can only get by constantly spending money to make research even viable for a regular user.
