I hope the melee rework makes Longswords viable.
I just got the Ash and he's pretty awesome.
However, a friend of mine said his only useful powers are Teleport (situational) and Blade Storm.
He says Shuriken does utter shit for damage and Smoke Bomb is just a crappy version of Loki's Invisibility. Do these claims have merit or is has he just not found a use for them yet?

Shuriken is a spammable aimbot. Yes its damage is bad in the higher levels, but it is very useful when reloading. Smoke bomb is great for melee damage so you can figuratively punch any enemy in the dick as hard as humanely possible. It also has a small radial stagger which can be used to piss off and scatter rather threatening mobs of incoming enemies. Teleport is best used as a quick travel by targeting cameras and barrels, as the end cast animation allows almost all units to punt the assailant before Ash can even land an attack. And lastly, Blade Storm is an ultimate with zip utility other than therapeutic effect and a rest on the fingers, especially during survival. However, because it has no utility, the damage is AWFUL against mid to high level missions, and whatever objective you are defending is almost guaranteed to die while you cast it. It also has a really small enemy cap.
I say you use shuriken, smoke bomb and a power strength modification card. Add teleport when farming things, add bladestorm for survival.

I also forgot to mention that Shuriken can HEADSHOT, which means most of the time you deal 3000 damage or more with the power strength modification card.
Speaking of Ash, I very recently farmed Tyl Regor for half an hour or so and am currently sitting on enough Ash Helmet blueprints to make a space ninja hydra.

I know but it's just an odd choice. Seems like they forgot to make it mastery level 9 or something. I'm pretty pissed because I really wanted the acrid and the embolist over that. Takes me ages to go up a rank.

After dealing with a lot of infested invasions I'm in a similar situation with Nyx.
Has any worthwhile weapon been released these last months?
I'm about to finish grinding the Kogake (so bad), and I need a new weapon to level up.
Also, is Damage 2.0 much different that the old one? Or is it more numbers just for the sake of it?
Jesus Christ why are Burston Prime parts such a nuissance to acquire. I've done like 20 OD Survivals and I only got the freaking Blueprint.

because it has higher base damage and that means you can gimp up its damage to even more ridiculous values.

If you want a good melee weapon, I'd recommend orthos.

More numbers and more bullshit. Currently, the best bet is to use radiation (fire + electricity) and corrosive (toxic + electricity).

I think high level Grineer defence is easiest way to get Master Thief.

I like how it looks and I generally like burst weapons.
I really enjoy my Burston prime, but the normal Burston looks so much nicer :c
I just hate the gold on prime gear. It usually doesn't look good and you can't recolor it...
Is it recommended to transmute your spare, rare mod cards?

There's a ton of interesting new weapons depending on what type of weapon or what play style you'd like. The PENTA is pretty fun right now until its inevitable nerf. Damage 2.0 is a bit convoluted currently, so it's definitely worth looking at the wiki.

Pick up the penta and stug before they get nerfed. Burston prime is solid, having super high burst damage (ha.), but kinda crappy sustained. (relative to stuff like soma, synapse and karak)
Someone needs to take this game away from me. I just started yesterday and I've already maxed 3 primaries, a pistol, a sword, and 2 warframes :v:
