I want to see what stuff is in the update which we didn't get much/any coverage of.
Sure, we can agree to disagree except for one little point: I actually have more evidence. Only one line points to them being actually deformed, and that's tenuous at best. When there is plenty of other evidence in and around the series that says otherwise so, you know. Only reason it is the most popular and accepted is because people won't let the myth die and keep clinging to it.
tbh i think a lore line saying the tenno are mutants is slightly better evidence than a character model from a different game

I always love some minor changes, you know, those little details. Like new helmets for enemies or skins. Or new reload animations etc.
[sp]STORY TIME! It's long...[/sp]
Here's my take on the Tenno lore and lots more:
The Tenno were once humans [or equivalent]. As a race, they slowly developed, discovering new technology and living life [similar to our current timeline]. However, the Technocyte virus was introduced to Hayden Tenno, and this marked the beginning of something.
The Technocyte virus [in the universe] is what mutates and consumes Hayden; however, thanks to his genectic mutation, congenital analgesia, he is immune to the pain produced from the virus. So rather than the virus consume him, he learns to control and evolve it, thus forming the Proto-Excal suit, the original frame. This frame works similarly to a prototype of Excalibur, enhancing human capabilities, both offensively and defensively. The virus was meant to mutate man into machines of death, but Hayden defied that destiny.
Thus, in comes the Sentients and the Orokin. The Orokin are like the Forerunners [from Halo] in a way, watching and learning from us. The Sentients are like anti-Orokin (so don't think the flood), and are possibly warrant on the destruction of too much knowledge: thus, Yin and Yang is in balance here.
The Technocyte virus originated from a creature that can transmit it to other beings. However, where did this creature come from? What makes it tick? This part of the lore seems unexplained, so let's assume that in this universe Hayden does kill it and stops it... sort of. Although Hayden kills the point of origin, its "existance" is still there. The Sentients see what the Orokin see, and while the Orokin manage to gather samples of it to learn from it, so do they. The Orokin only wish to learn from this virus and see what it can do; the Sentients only wish to grow stronger. Thus, the Sentients attempt to modify the virus and fuse themselves with it to become stronger- they succeed, yet fail.
The Sentients fuse with the virus and become stronger than ever before, but with a price: they become deformed. Creatures with a thirst to consume and evolve, unlike the Infested. Upon realization of what became of them, the Sentients became enraged. So what do they do? They lash out at the one thing they can: the Orokin. However, the Orokin saw what became of the Sentients and knew they weren't strong enough to stop them. They needed an army, soldiers whom they can trust to fight for them.
Time had passed since Hayden stopped the Technocyte, but it lingered still. Yet, humanity continued to expand, unbeknowest to the virus lingering around them. Before Hayden's disappearance, he created an airborn mutagen to combat the Technocyte should he pass away or equivalent. This mutagen was created through some help and rigorous studies to make his genetic mutation work like a tranquilizer. Some humans eventually became physical carriers of the mutation, with few cases where it became active rather than passive. Time for the Sentient/Orokin war and human expansion is not perfectly parallel though: time is distorted. Assuming centuries had passed, the Orokin and Sentient Wars eventually boil into our solar system.
The Orokin were the first to arrive, taking refuge where they can. They made offers of trade and knowledge for land to build defenses and prepare for the Sentients. During this time, the Orokin learn of the how the humans managed slip-space travel and the mutagen that keeps the Technocyte at bay. An alliance is formed; humans with the mutation were offered a chance to defend humanity and even advance it. Thus the Orokin-Human Alliance is born and the "Tenno Project" begins.
During this time, the humans learn of the events surrounding Hayden, and the coming Sentients. The subjects were split into two groups; 1) Those with the ability to resist the Technocyte greatly became soldiers, and 2) those not resistant but were of use. Those in group two became what the Lotus is, commanders of sorts that would be able to work like supercomputers through mutations. The Soldier groups were like Halo's spartans, humans being injected with minute sample of the Technocyte to amplify their abilities. This is where the first frames came from, but the frames had no special powers, just improved physical and mental capabilities. It also provided defenses and improved mobility. However, the technocyte would, in exchange, mutate a portion of the human.
Meanwhile, the Sentients were still attempting to discover the Orokin's knowledge of "Void Warping." It's like light-speed, but uses the void as a medium for jumping. Eventually, the sentients captured a functioning Orokin vessel that wasn't destroyed in battle and gained this knowledge... sort of. The Sentients were still missing pieces of info to use it fully, but they took the risk and attempted a mass jump. They failed and ended up getting stuck in the Void, but it wasn't a complete loss. They founded Orokin defense towers that were set up in case the Sentients attempted such a jump. Although lacking, the Sentients fought through the towers, attempting to gain the knowledge to jump out and finish what they started. These Orokin towers however, were also sending signals to the Orokin.
The Orokin eventually receive the signals alerting them of the Sentients. As such, they needed to catch while they had an upper hand in the void. So they began to send in their Tenno and Commanders to fight in the Void. However, they made it clear void battle should only be temporary due to its unknown on humans. While the Void War was occurring, there would be instances where ships would be lost and the Orokin believed the Tenno lost forever- until some ships eventually made it back.
Here is where the Orokin learn of the way to make the Tenno stronger: the Void in combination with the Technocyte afflicted the Tenno, cursing and gifting them at the same time. The Technocyte used the influence of the Void to amplify its propeties to a new scale, causing it to manifest powers and feats no mortal can control. The original Frames are consumed, leaving the Tenno exposed to the mystics of the Void. Even though it is still unknown, the Void seems to reverse the aging of those in the Tenno class. The commanders, however, weren't as lucky: but it was not without loss. The commanders used the Orokin tech to create A.I. humanoids to help these ships escape. Sometimes, these A.I. would barely make it but most times they would expire upon reaching normal space. The Tenno that returned were eventually discovered, and seen as assets. Yet, these Tenno would eventually create a caste system that would introduce the new Warframes and Prime variants, along with other unexplored variations.
The Orokin saw this as a bold new step in human evolution and began sending more Tenno into the void. However, this would lead to their inevitable downfall. Their hunger for a safe heaven would divide humanity: humans that failed the process were discarded to Earth. These humans resentment would lead to the Grineer being born. Failed commanders would eventually escape prior to their loss to become the Corpus. Lastly, humans not selected were left alone and untouched, only to have a dwindling population. The remainder became Tenno, soldiers of the Orokin, along with a handful of A.I. Leaders; one being the Lotus.
Eventually, the Sentients were beat out of the Void, leaving it to Orokin control. The Orokin and Tenno held a grand event to celebrate their long deserved victory. Yet, the Lotus had other plans: she knew the Tenno would never be truly free until the Orokin were defeated. This is what lead to the blood bath, the Orokin massacre. Those lower on the Tenno hierarchy didn't know of the Lotus plans, and only saw these higher members as villans. This lead to the birth of Stalkers intentions, and perhaps it was for the better. The Tenno had earned their freedom and with peace brought to our galaxy, they were set to slumber. Thus, the Grineer and Corpus emerged and grew, along with the Technocyte becoming mutated further, the Infested. Years, decades go by...
"Tenno, your time has come: awaken." The Lotus calls for you.
TL;DR, my fanfic lore which makes a decent amount of sense based on current knowledge. I could be wrong and missing things but I think this is a huge, yet accurate, story.
Absolutely False.
When Rebecca brought up the question before U11
Geoff said flatly "Hayden Tenno is the OG, which is why they are called Tenno"
Steve said, "Yes, that's correct"
and Scott nodded.
Mynki also said the reason Nova's neck won't be changed is every Tenno will have flawed, inhuman proportions on some organ or limbs because it's one of the defining things that makes them Tenno.
You're flat ass wrong.
They might look humanoid, but they don't look perfectly human, and the models' literal proportion back that up as much as the livestreams do.
Just to further prove this point, I did a little experiment

I tried fitting a variety of human head shapes into the excal helmet, but the (average) cranium is too large to fit in a helmet, without making the head so small that a child would be puppeting the suit, or that 1/4 of the head would need to be removed.
Then I opened the mask to go into that "tenno are eyeless thing"
Also here is the clipping comparison

Jesus those cables.
Maybe the Hayden they meant was the OG Hayden from '05 Dark Sector D:
Now create a box shaped head and shove it inside the Trinity helmet.

You just gave me a hilarious idea, since I can actually mesh deform faces to match the interior geometry of helmets!
EDIT:
BEHOLD, RHINO's Cousin

Ok so obviously the guys face wouldn't be right up against the surface of the mask, but it looked funny regardless..

That was an excellent read, good job. And it does make a reasonable amount of sense.
Man, I can't wait to try out that new katana styled weapon with the sheath at the end of the Melee 2.0 teaser.
I can't wait for my melee weapon to have dangly bits. Its like the dog tagger dagger from bf2142. I loved that thing.
The first thing i thought when i saw those dangly bits was the lucky charms in Blacklight that gives you different bonuses if you equip them on your gun.
Um follow up cuz I forgot the point I was making. The Tenno are deformed, but not in how we think. The deformity can be a long neck, abnormal muscle mass, and the like. It's the fact the Tenno lost their humanity to gain their power.
I think the Tenno are just brains in jars.
I think the Tenno are just brains in jars.
Personally I like the idea of them being cyborgs better than them being mutants,
kind of in the same line of how cyborgs in MGR:R work with blood, but have artificial organs and such.
Though I suppose they could be...
MUTANT CYBORG SPACE NINJAS
I like to think Tenno are some strange beings made specifically for that one suit. And they have some weird solutions in them, like the brain being somewhere else besides the head, where only sensory organs/devices reside.
Well, they've been described as 'Twisted by the Void".
while we're on the subject of lore and fan theories, this thread is a very interesting read, focusing mainly on why certain things might be named the way they are

Also there seems to be a direct relationship with weapon handling skills and reduction of the nose area. Not much use for smell in space I suppose.

nah, the burden of shut up is on you, as you're the only one being vociferious against what the devs said on camera... more than once. I've also never stated what my opinion is either way, so once again you're level of butthurt aginst a perceived slight is pretty telling.
