I feel like during a Double XP Event I shouldn't dick around going for Gold on guns and what not, I should just go for picking a gun I'm really good with and getting loads of kills and shit to make use of it fully.

But using guns you don't already have gold/max prestige means you complete challenges, and I do believe the XP you get for completing those is doubled as well. Overall, even if you get fewer kills, you will probably XP almost as fast.
Probably explains why when I mastered the S12 I got out of the game with 36,000+ XP.

This is the highest I've ever seen the player count. It was even higher than what it is on a friday night before the free weekend with 22,000 people at 8 AM today
The highest player count I've ever seen in any Call of Duty was on the release day of Black Ops 1, there was like, 1 Million+ Players Online. (Xbox 360)
On Black Ops 2 it's usually around 120,000 - 200,000.

I'm wondering why they never re-used the M16's reload animations from CoD4, considering that they keep reusing the M4's, which look like complete ass in my opinion

It will always in my opinion, be one of the best CoD reload animations ever.
Personally I always thought the FAL had the best reload animation, too bad it doesn't have the same sound though in Black Ops 2, but I can deal with that.
My favorite reload animation is dual m1911's in bo1.

it really depends on the gamemode you play
if you mainly play tdm and ffa you most likely wont get any high ones
if you play other gamemodes that contain objectives like domination it makes getting high scorestreaks a lot easier

I use "headphones" and I can hear footsteps just fine with my TB's.

i wish i could use the force to summon a mag to my hand as well for reloading.
I keep getting great matches in BLOPS2 but there's always a guy on my team going 3/30. Are these boosters or are they eating glue during their matches??

My headset barely picks up sound as it is and my hearing isn't very good so I NEED supercrunch in order to hear literally anything in this game.
