I'm not quite sure on all the lingo (since I had my friend help me set it up, and he keeps it updated), but basically it's a modded disk drive that ignores the lack of security on the disk. I keep the security information on the harddrive, which needs to be updated every so often for newer titles. I CAN use it to play online, but I'm a bit cautious about it. Most of the time, I just use my little bro's newer gen Xbox, to preserve the failing diskdrive on the modded one.
Altogether, not very expensive. Maybe 10, 20 dollars? However, you need the REALLY old Xboxes (mine's from 2007) to do it how I did, since the new ones have more redundent security features to lessen tampering, and require the more expensive methods.
So I've got my copy sitting in front of me, naturally it doesn't release on steam for another 28 hours. Yay.

I'm about 20 minutes into the campaign.
Running at 1080p, maxed out with 4xTXAA on 670SLI 4GB/2500k 4.4Ghz and I'm getting an average 55-60fps. The graphics aren't bad but it doesn't match up with the performance you get also the game is cpu intensive as my 670s level out at 90% usage..

And people say the look of Call of Duty hasn't changed since Modern Warfare, which is a load of shit, it's still a fun shooter sure, but graphically it has gotten better over the years.
Also why do people ALWAYS mention Call of Duty 4 when they speak of Call of Duty, and how every other game has gone downhill since 4 and that 4 was the best and blah blah bandwagon shite?

It mainly comes down to people, including myself, being annoyed that while CoD4 had three base killstreaks that weren't too broken and the weapons were (mostly) well-balanced, Modern Warfare 2 and beyond began the start of poor spawns, cramped maps and killstreaks that can wipe people out en masse and reward those who are already doing well. I haven't played 4 in a while, however, so I honestly cannot say if it's better than its successors or worse.
i forgot to buy more RAM for this game (since i'm like every other common gamer and just run at 4gb. since, you know, every game up until now has never needed anything more than 4gb. what a joke)
guess I'm not going to be able to play for a few more days until it comes in from newegg. fuck. i don't have money for this

are you kidding right now?
maybe you have never played call of duty 1 or 2 but [b]I[/b] remember when the maps were big. where it made sense to have a sniper rifle. where combat was really rewarding. also don't bullshit yourself: the graphics have hardly changed at all. sharper textures and specular mapping on guns and shadows that cast on your hands doesn't mean the game is visually improved. it hasn't improved since mw2. there's no visual difference between the games at all: the only thing that changes is that the maps get more cluttered, get more close quarters and the combat gets less redeeming
is call of duty a fun game to pick up and play? hell yeah it is. it's great for people like me who don't want to use their brains while blasting people. that doesn't mean the game is any good. mw4 WAS the last call of duty game because even though killstreaks were in it, the game didn't revolve around them. that's all the new games are now. you get a few kills with rifles and then you just cast your army of drones and player-guided rockets everywhere to get more killstreaks. rinse and repeat, no skill required
We were all just joking around about how they must not be compressing anything for a game to be Tonka bloody huge, but damn, Infinity Ward really must've done it. Maybe we're going to start seeing either a requirement from the industry to upgrade our computers more fiercely than before, or a forced balance between optimization and next-gen graphics.
I was going to play the campaign through a vpn but steam decided to delete the multiplayer (which is required to play the singleplayer) for some reason. I guess I'll play at midnight.
I feel like "that guy" for only installing MP, since I want to try to hop into it first.

that's how it's always been. you have to have both in order to play one or the other
