We just spent about an hour dealing with a huge metal dragon before it tried to attack one of us and we realized it was an illusion.
I made that encounter on the spot at around 4-5AM. Other highlights include: Leaping wizards ambush PCs, don't even get a single action before being decimated. Everyone humming the LoZ theme over microphone. The inventing of the Funadin, who detects hilarity and smites dullness. Also one of the PCs spontaneously gained the ability to sense hilarity, got a seizure from bad jokes. Grimlick, our resident knee-high toad man, accidentally blew himself up with a magic laser gun of explosioning, cries himself to sleep.
Let's not forget that there was a public fountain full of fire that spat out coins when someone tried to toss a few in, and our 2 small people bought and carried a whole keg of mead then finished it off within an hour. And also one of the leaping wizards rolled a 0 for initiative and tried to go home.
I could use some suggestions on DMing,is there any sites or something i could from to get maps/ideas/encounters/campaigns and the like?
I could use some suggestions on DMing,is there any sites or something i could from to get maps/ideas/encounters/campaigns and the like?
For what game?
I could use some suggestions on DMing,is there any sites or something i could from to get maps/ideas/encounters/campaigns and the like?
Make it fun.
Make it fun.
This sounds like the most vague piece of advice ever, but it's pretty important to understand that fun comes before all else.
For what game?
Well I host dark heresy but i'd be open to any ideas or campaigns...maps can be adapted to any game for instance..
Had to leave my Vampire group due to lack of player agency.
I thought it was cool i finally got to use my bite attack
biting a wizard's face off is just mean though.

What does everyone think of Shadowrun Returns?
I've always been interested in D&D but only one of my friends play it. Would anyone want to teach a guy like me how to play and possibly help me get into a game? It sounds fun as hell.
I'm still kind of thinking about trying to DM a Pathfinder game or something. But if anybody does feel like joining a game with a newbie DM be forewarned I'll probably be confused as hell for a lot of it. [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] Though probably significantly less confused than anybody who is new to the game since I've got a few sessions' experience to go on.
Someone willing to DM? Oh man put me on your list friendo
http://donjon.bin.sh/ Idea generators for every aspect of DMing if you want to randomize things
Nice find, wonder if I can "download" the website to use it offline, gonna give it a try. edit: apparently not, still, downloading it somehow takes the load off the server and generates big maps much faster on the local side even though it still needs internet access to call the script from the website.
So I guess anybody who feels like joining in this game DMed by me, add me on steam.
So I guess anybody who feels like joining in this game DMed by me, add me on steam.
I'm interested but have never played D&D before. Anything important I should know? I have played RPG's before and Arkham Horror and Mansion of Madness before.
I think probably the best way to figure out a lot of stuff is to just fill out a character sheet. That, alone, will likely help you figure out a lot of what you need to know.(Unless you're a spellcaster in which case shit can get a little confusing.) My advice: Use this place to look up info as you make your character, and use myth weavers to make your sheet.(I know like nothing about anything other than Pathfinder so it'll probably be a Pathfinder game.) If you have any other questions then, like I said, add me on steam and I'll try to explain stuff. edit: (I'm also just gonna say let's roll with 30 point buy since that's a decent number imo.)
http://donjon.bin.sh/ Idea generators for every aspect of DMing if you want to randomize things
I've used that site so much that I'm filled with horror at the thought of it ever going offline.
I could use some suggestions on DMing,is there any sites or something i could from to get maps/ideas/encounters/campaigns and the like?
I got a lot of my inspiration from Chris Perkins. Here he is running a game for the crew behind Robot Chicken. If you've got a few hours to spare, check it out: There's another version with DM commentary, so if you got a few more hours, I'd check it out too.
What does everyone think of Shadowrun Returns?
it seems pretty cool. i hope there's fox womens again like in SNES Shadowrun.
So are there any games that are going on this week? I have nothing to do and I'd like to try this out.

Question about sneak attacks in Pathfinder. If I am able to make a sneak attack on an enemy, do I actually have to roll to hit, or is it assumed I manage to hit? If I have to roll, is there a bonus I get to hit because it is a sneak attack (other than then being flat footed AC)?
So when this thread fills up, do we name it v4? Or pathfinder?
Ah, I love being a DM.. Sometimes, I had this great story crafted which mostly takes place in a large town and as soon as my group escaped a prison one of them decided to set a flimsy house on fire which spread through the town and destroyed it and now they're on a deserted island just off the coast. /sigh [editline]2nd April 2013[/editline] To be fair I had fun trying to injure them while they were escaping various fast-spreading fires. There was even a cool explosion they had to escape from and one of them accidently burnt 51 people to death but overall it was a fun first session.

You don't get an attack bonus, but the opponent is flat-footed, which often helps. If you hit on that roll, you get the bonus damage from sneak attack (Xd6).
