oh god oh man oh god.
I overheard the warlock's familiar talking shit about me in a menacing manner.
I checked it out with a baller spellcraft roll and THAT FUCKER IS POLYMORPHED
I'm scared.
Warlocks don't usually even have familiars, iirc.
What the opinion on 4th Edition up here?
What the opinion on 4th Edition up here?
We've got people on both sides, but I think the majority seem to dislike it.
Anyone have any idea how to play 2e, and can link me to like, a quick briefing or something? I'm gonna be playing it with some buds soon as a Paladin, and I've never played any version of DnD before.

He got the feat that lets him have one, that's not the issue.
Also the DM was playing katawa shojo music as we were trying to tell the twins that their parents were dead/transplanted inside them and my fucking heart died

played Baldur's Gate? if so it's pretty much that
if not, go play it.
What's everyone's opinion on Pathfinder? 3.5 but better, or 3.5 but worse?
Isn't technology considered basically magic in-universe? [sp]I would go ahead and give them some circuit diagram that they aren't going to understand, and have them try to figure it all out. Use non-standard symbols and such. Maybe make the damage superficial - a safety circuit broke, it really just needs to be shorted or something.[/sp]
Yeah I'll probably end up doing that, can't exactly do much else.

3.5 is fun and has a ridiculous amount of extra stuff through new manuals, but in my opinion pathfinder is for the most part better mechanic-wise and is generally smoother to play.
Better as a whole than 3.5, it feels far more polished and cleaner. However 3.5 had more rules and was a tad more complex than PF in some respects; as a result it might be a bit better in terms of character customization (I was not a fan of removing skills and combining them, nor the removal of facing being something that mattered -- even though there's abilities in PF that require facing to function correctly still).
I don't think it's simple coincidence that so many people jumped the fence from 3.5 to PF and ended up staying.

Better off just taking what you want from 3.5 and converting it to PF. Seems to be the trend nowadays; I do it myself and none of my games were any worse for it.

oh god the dm just messaged me with another conversation I overheard, the fucking rat is onto me and would want me dead if it wouldn't be so suspicious
Any of you guys want to play some new World of Dorkness with a massive dork? Maybe on Saturdays, around 5 PM GMT?
If you do, just come say hi on steam or skype, and we'll figure things out from there.
My skype name is ellywellywin, and my steam is right

I like how you say this and yet everything I said after the opening narrative bits was almost entirely improvised.
I think the only thing that wasn't was the fact that the windows were covered, which I meant to say as you guys walked up to the place; I just got really distracted trying to cover everything going on at once that I forgot to say it until you were walking around to the back.

I think players shouldn't know this. It makes them think you know what you are doing, which is usually a good thing.
Kind of like the illusion of choice, or how a magician doesn't tell people how he does his magic etc.

During the performance, sure. But after the fact it serves as a validation of your abilities.

Or lack thereof!!!
It doesn't help that some of the stuff I did plan randomly disappeared from roll20 in between closing the tab and opening it again about 10 minutes later when the game started.
I was busy talking with several people outside of the game and leaving my computer to do several things while playing.
To be quite honest all i know is that there are vampires and I instantly decapitated the first thing i fought. :v:

Uhhh....
Can't really be quick with 2E. First off it depends on how adherent to the base rules the GM is going to be. Other than that, just read the PHB. The rules for weapon/armor statisctics, the use of abilities and combat actions are all you should really need to know. Also Proficiency slots if your GM uses those are in the PHB and an errata book called the Complete Paladin's Guide (I think).
But yeah, just play Baldur's Gate. That should get you pretty well up to speed on combat stuff at least.
Isn't 2E also called AD&D?
Isn't 2E also called AD&D?
AD&D, I think, is a seperate version of 2e with more crunch so that it can encompass a lot more stuff than normal 2e does.
When in doubt, Wiki to the rescue.
has anyone played deadlands noir? if so how is it?

edit:
also sorry that i suck at d&d im obviously new
What I would really want to do is have a PvP tournament campaign of gladitorial games but with a little twist. The games would be run like a mix of real gladitorial combat and the whole proto-celebrity culture Romans gave the profession... and early 80's-90's professional wrestling, complete with all the pre-match promos and wrestling-ring drama.
[sp]Rändi the Savage from the Germanic tribes![/sp]
[editline]9th September 2013[/editline]
totally not because i found out there's historical evidence for female gladiators who were afforded the same proto-celebrity status as males

This is the updated version without the Youtube mess ups. BUT part 6 is missing because Twitch TV is buggy as fuck, sorry.
Nice, work man.
In the meantime if anyone has any suggestion or such for me (the DM) that'd be sweet.
Man I hate my voice, laugh and mannerisms. :v:
