Anyone have any idea how to play 2e, and can link me to like, a quick briefing or something? I'm gonna be playing it with some buds soon as a Paladin, and I've never played any version of DnD before.
To be honest, as long as your friends know their way around the system then it shouldn't take too long to explain the game to you before you can start having fun. Most of the responsibility sits with the DM in earlier editions. Rolling a character up could take a while, but the process isn't too complex.
Isn't 2E also called AD&D?

AD&D, I think, is a seperate version of 2e with more crunch so that it can encompass a lot more stuff than normal 2e does.
2E is AD&D 2E, which was published after Gygax was ousted from TSR so they wouldn't need to pay him the royalties he would have been owed if they continued to publish AD&D 1E products. The systems are essentially the same, but AD&D 2E had a shitload of splatbooks and other supplementary material released through the 90s.
Nice, work man. In the meantime if anyone has any suggestion or such for me (the DM) that'd be sweet.
are all of those assets directly from roll20, or are those imported from somewhere? I've been looking for a good free source of virtual table objects
Man I hate my voice, laugh and mannerisms. :v:
i know what you mean man, I hate listing to the sound of my own laugh and shit too
are all of those assets directly from roll20, or are those imported from somewhere? I've been looking for a good free source of virtual table objects
They're all on Roll 20, Although it's a lot more limited than you might think.
When it comes to roll20, all you really need is tokens and a pen tool.
I could no longer resist the temptation to throw a Deck of Many Things at my group. None of them know anything about D&D outside of what I've told them or run them through, so they hadn't heard about it before, all I told them was that it could go either very well or very terrible for them and that they had no obligation to draw cards if they didn't want to. The Half-Orc Assassin now has two 4th Level Fighters in his service, along with a treasure map and a +2 shortbow. The Barbarian lost 10,000 experience points, had to change his alignment, and now has emnity with a Malebranche Greater Devil. The Elf Fighter/Magic-User lost all wealth and property. The Paladin gained 50 gems of varying value. He also had his soul ripped out and hidden away 'on a far planet or plane, possibly in the possession of a demon'. So he now is a hollow automaton. At least I have an adventure hook for when we're next all back from university.
Any of you guys want to play some new World of Dorkness with a massive dork? Maybe on Saturdays, around 5 PM GMT? If you do, just come say hi on steam or skype, and we'll figure things out from there. My skype name is ellywellywin, and my steam is right <- there
Still a couple spots open.
A human skeleton weighs around 20 pounds. I have seven skeletal followers, all armed with wooden shield and scimitar. Three are in half-plate, one is in scale mail, and the rest wear leather. More importantly, all of that weight combined fits cozily into my character's ability to hold off of the ground and stagger around with. MECHA-SHIVA
I've been looking for a good free source of virtual table objects
[Link Terminated] is probably almost half of what's freely available on the web in terms of higher quality fantasy inspired content (and just useful things in general). You can ignore the instructions and sound folder if you're not using d20pro. I think it's a gig or something worth of content. Since the other folders are self explanatory I'll just add that the CTR folder has content for portraits/tokens, things of that nature. The other half of content out there requires a lot of time and dedication to track down and save individual images strewn about the web (so of course I did it anyway). [editline]9th September 2013[/editline] Upon inspection it's smaller than I thought. Now I'm wondering where the fuck I got all my stuff from. [editline]9th September 2013[/editline] Found the rest of it, but fuck it I'll just upload everything I have and link it here instead of running around going link to link. I already found this shit once, don't need to do it again. :v:
I'm thinking about running a game of Don't Rest Your Head. It's sort of an obscure game, so it's fine if you've never played it. Basically, you play as an insomniac who finds their way to the Mad City, where the Awake reside. Every character has something robbing them of their sleep, and they have to put it to rest so they may finally return to the world of the sleepers. The game will be either on tuesdays or thursdays, 3 PM to 7-8 PM EST. Newcomers to the system are fine (I haven't even played a game of it yet personally), just send me a PM on here with contact info or whatever. Only contact me if you know FOR SURE that you will be able to play on those days and at that time within a few weeks.

So I'm new to the whole D&D I understand all basic concepts, blah blah blah, I just haven't created a character or played a game yet. Few questions, where should I start? I am in the navy so I can't play on a schedule, because it's pretty much luck of the draw what days I work. Which virtual table top is most used, and where can I find an open schedule game that is patient to a noob? Also if possible, Star Wars D&D interests me the most, but anything other than the generic D&D will work, like Cyberpunk, Modern, something that doesn't have a damn dragon in it. I just made an account on Roll20 and asked to observe a Star Wars game in 2 hours, so hopefully that will get me on the right track.
What I would really want to do is have a PvP tournament campaign of gladitorial games but with a little twist. The games would be run like a mix of real gladitorial combat and the whole proto-celebrity culture Romans gave the profession... and early 80's-90's professional wrestling, complete with all the pre-match promos and wrestling-ring drama. [sp]Rändi the Savage from the Germanic tribes![/sp] [editline]9th September 2013[/editline] totally not because i found out there's historical evidence for female gladiators who were afforded the same proto-celebrity status as males
I now know what I will GM. Fallout: A Post-Nuclear Tabletop Roleplaying Game: Thunderdome Tussel: Beatdown in Bartertown.
What's this Deck of Many Things, and how do I get it for my group?
Could try this generator. I prefer guns, and what not. Plus Krayt Dragon's are the shit.
Or if they are lucky do some more fun or interesting things
D&D characters? Lucky? What games do you play? If giving the characters cool things doesn't end up with half of them dead, the rest wanted for genocide, and all the lands within a hundred mile radius left desolate, you didn't give them enough cool things
There's a chance I might need a new Operations Director for Friday Night Adeptus Evangelion. Hopefully I'll know for sure before too long.

Also, Numenera hasn't been going too terribly since I've started GM'ing it. Plenty of things to work on, but man is it entertaining to make ideas for it and it can easily apply because 'Numenera'.
Got 3 players now, still space for a few more.
No offence, but from what I've heard of your cronicle it's not something I want to be a part of.
I've been wanting to try WoD for a while but unfortunately I already have a game on Saturdays.
