I'm a "rogue" not a fighter.
So be a good rogue and shank the mage before he even knows you're there. You've got evasion to avoid the save for half spells, too.
I'm a "rogue" not a fighter.
Uhh, sneak attacks? Casters usually have shitty AC and worse HP.
Is there a nice page with all the resources for 2e like there is for Pathfinder? I'd like to have everything in one place.
Is there a nice page with all the resources for 2e like there is for Pathfinder? I'd like to have everything in one place.
Nope, since it isn't under the open gaming license. You'll have to either buy the books or a pdf.
then low-passage passengers raid your room and throw potatoes at you until you suffocate
Low-passage is cryoberths. Frozen potatoes. Ouch.
I better not be denied all of my possible moments of Entropic coolness by your GM fiats of "lel u left ur sax in d kar do sumthin elze" because then I'll have to resort to nothing but headshots. Also, would you object to me modifying my sheet? I want to see if there's any way I can make a few adjustments to increase my REF to increase my chances of pulling some totally sicknasty headshots, but since we already played a game (even if it was just a test) I want to know if you're against me changing my sheet. But don't worry, I won't be asking to change my sheet every game. Come next session all changes will be final.
no, you can't, stop minmaxing dammit you're already op as is
no, you can't, stop minmaxing dammit you're already op as is
Fukken shit, no need to be so feisty, it was just a question. I probably could have just done it and you wouldn't have even noticed, so be grateful I'm such a nice and honest player :v: and don't blame me for Entropy being so game-breakingly awesome. Not my fault. Ryan's Brick punched a hole in the damned universe, like, 3 fucking times, I don't think Entropy can top that. ...though Frederick von Beardington III's successfully punning a hole in the universe to close it is probably a close contender to awesome of that level. [editline]4th October 2013[/editline] I can't help it if I'm such a naturally good Cyberpunk player. Maybe my Cool stat IRL is almost as good as Entropy's.
Well, I just got back from my first major outing of DnD. It was fun enough, but I think I just experienced the definition of a bad group; 10 people, popping in and out of play, people taking 15+ minutes to take their turn in combat, and people arguing strategy for 30 minutes straight. At one point the DM took a poll as to which pony was best pony. I don't think I've ever felt so loathed; the moment I mentioned that I don't watch the show I was up to my neck in raging shitstorm. I don't think I'll be joining THAT group again. =I Overall though, I can't say that I didn't have fun for the first hour or so, before combat caused all manner of progression to cease.
Don't even get me started on stupid arguments. In my first campaign the players started arguing about how the monk's flurry of blows worked part-way through a dungeon and kept arguing about it even after he used it the way he'd been using it. And then afterward, iirc, no change was made.
That sounds absolutely terrible, and I am sorry it happened to you.
Finding good D&D players is a delicate balance of getting people with enough of a life that they aren't neckbeards but not too much of a life so they're not doing anything else on game day
Well, if one thing good came out of it, it was that the DM gave me access to the official character builder, so if I want to start my own campaign with people I actually know I can get character creation done relatively quickly.
Finding good D&D players is a delicate balance of getting people with enough of a life that they aren't neckbeards but not too much of a life so they're not doing anything else on game day
The group I ran over the summer had the latter problem to an extreme extent Such that, I had initially planned to get the whole campaign done over the summer at our rate of 1 session a week, but then we basically went a whole month without a meet, so we had to put the final session at the halfway point And I only think we got 2-3 sessions where we actually had every group member Which was frustrating to all hell, but at least when we actually managed to get everyone together we managed to mostly keep it together (save that one session which had the orgy-off. Which I wouldn't have allowed in any way if I hadn't decided I was going to make everyone involved feel horrible afterwards. Which I did quite handily) but still, RL is a bitch I'd absolutely prefer it to the alternative, though.
DnD is serious business [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Ftp7PTp.png[/img_thumb]
What's the best way for martial characters to close the gap with spellcasters in Pathfinder from the point of view of the player?
Late to the party, but if you have some kind of ranged capability that can really help. You can prepare an action to fire at the spellcaster when he begins casting, which will force a concentration check if you hit him. A Cloak of Resistance is also nice for when you inevitably have to make saves. Charging/sneak attacking and the Step-Up feat that allows you to follow an enemy's five foot step on their turn are also nice against casters.
Ooh, never thought about preparing an action like that, thanks.
It's kind of funny because you can literally do that as a mage too. "I wait for the other mage to begin casting- Then I cast disintegrate on him."
It's kind of funny because you can literally do that as a mage too. Blast them with a magic missile while they were casting Mordenkaiden's Rape Blaster. Fun times.

Ain't no mage gonna be casting jack shit 'round me when they've got a
in their throat.
