So my friends are wanting me to DM again during the holidays and i've been kicking some ideas around. I wanted to make them become servants of a minor god that wanted to expand its influence and power. The god is pretty much going to be blackmailing them into doing its bidding. The god is basically really low powered so it can't do much to begin with which is why it is recruiting level one characters to do its bidding. The god will have a demon messenger that will carry its messages to them (the god would like an angel but isn't powerful enough to get them). They will be able to do certain things that the god likes to increase their favour with him and also they will follow quests like eliminating small cults so that the god can then kill the god that the cults were worshipping and gain power. Only problem is I can't think of what the god would initially be the god of. I want it to be something subtle and obviously not very powerful but also something really cool and that makes sense for it to be really ambitious (wanting to work its way all the way up the pantheon).
The god of Sword-Chucks
Much too powerful, the God Of Sword-Chucks is already at the top.
Much too powerful, the God Of Sword-Chucks is already at the top.
A forgotten god of white lies? Claiming to be something slightly different of course.
A forgotten god of white lies? Claiming to be something slightly different of course.
Oh yeah that sounds pretty cool actually, would definitely work. Probably claim to value truth, make the party go after the God of Lies so that he can take that spot. Thanks!
Make it the God of an old and forgotten Civilization; they used to be worshipped by an entire people but the loss of the civilization also meant the loss of the God's worshippers and so they're all but forgotten now. This is of course an excuse to go adventuring in old ruins and lost cities and stuff.
A forgotten god of white lies? Claiming to be something slightly different of course.
God of Applied Truth?
God of Half-Truths.
a god of lies and a god of truth and both say the other is the god of lies
Perhaps a god of some personality trait or disorder? Say, something like a God of Schizophrenia?
God of Truth and Lies. He always says he's not the God of Lies when you talk to him.
Perhaps a god of some personality trait or disorder? Say, something like a God of Schizophrenia?
Heh, that could be interesting too. A god of god complexes with a god complex?
The God of Self-Doubt.
The God of Self-Doubt.
But is he really?
So I just accidentally threw a grenade at another party member while we were flying 50 meters off the ground in a helicopter. He somehow survives with barely a scratch, nobody else gets hit at all, and he procceeds to push me out the helicopter and for some reason I dont even get to try and dodge it. Then I somehow manage to survive that even though the only cybernetics I have is a chainsaw arm.
A guy DMing a PF game I've been talking to has decided to give all martial classes mythic tiers every other level to "balance out casters." So I rolled up a level 6 guntank gunslinger with 22dex that ignores the max dodge on up to medium armour, giving me 29AC (+6 dodge, +6 from a breast plate, +6 from a +2 tower shield and +1 from the dodge feat), and I'm able to apply half of the armour bonuses against touch attacks, who was also able to heal themselves for 150HP at 5HP/round daily. He changed his mind.
a god of lies and a god of truth and both say the other is the god of lies
No one who saw Laybrinth would fall for that trick.
I've been meaning to DM a Call of Cthulhu game for a while now, but I have no experience at all and I'm afraid I'm gonna seriously suck at it, but this module I want to run is friggin' amazing and is pretty much the sequel Lovecraft's book "At the Mountains of Madness" Been playing D&D 3.5 as a player for years now, but I'm still working up the nerve to just start DMing. :<

I'm quite interested now how this game would work out.
So pathfinder summoners are pretty fucking rad Twice the characters, twice the opportunities for optimization!
And so begins my campaign centered around the Deck of Many Things.
And now time for another Saturday Night PnP Double Feature! Starring! ... Aperture Fan and other people but really I deserve more credit considering I'm the one who always saves these logs and types this shit that nobody fucking reads anyway. Anyway, to start, we have Cyberpunk: Session 8: Painful Landing http://pastebin.com/3J5YZvJq
Entropy's pad. New cybersamuri party member knocks at door and joins us. Is absolutely dedicated to Entropy because of a blood oath or something. Convenient e-mail arrives. Location of next quest acquired. Go to location, as Elowin said, he critfailed throwing a grenade onto a roof from a helicopter. It landed in my, Entropy's, lap. No damage, but Entropy doesn't like this. He kicks Ash out of the air vehicle. Go down to the roof of the building. Work our way downstairs, killing what needs to be killed. Pick up second new party member, being held prisoner to do something or other. Grab him and continue downwards. Kill more, Entropy finds and cradles a LeMat revolver; a 9-round revolver with a barrel underneath that can fire a single shotgun shell. More killing, new samurai party member is absolutely OP kickass pretty cool. Go downstairs again, find crazy bitch sitting on overdramatic throne in a room lit by torches. She samurai duals new party member, loses fantastically, sends her 5 guards on us. I down 4 of them in 1 turn, Bruce arrests the last one.
and next up, we have... Mekton: Episode 5: I don't ~like~ blowing stuff up, b-baka.. http://pastebin.com/HfLFgKxB
We start off by going in an elevator to the deck or whatever of the giant flying airship. Start fight with giant flying boss. I throw Brick. Others shoot missiles and such. Nothing has much effect. GM goes afk so we all start to banter as the enemy assumedly just watches in amusement. Fight again, it goes to punch the combined mecha of me and Skyren. I roll to catch, fail the roll, and it forces me to decombine with Skyren. I launch out of the path of the fist, and Skyren tunnels through the ship out of harms way. Bianca, piloting the Kuso Hato, launches some missiles before grabbing me in Ken Kare to fly up and drop me on the pirate guy. It's a good thing that I rode with her, since the pirate guy decided to try and tear Bianca's mecha's wings off. I managed to hold it back from snapping. Then it went to bite me. If I let go, it would tear her wings off, so I did the only obvious thing I could. Stick my legs in its mouth and activate my thrusters. It buggered off. My turn, I jump, land on it, and punch ineffectively. It sets me down gently, says it surrenders, then combines with the giant fucking airship we were battling on. Now we're battling it. I combine with Bishop, Cedric combines with Bianca. Too lazy to look up combined names but I seem to recall them being something along the lines of "Heavenly Fist" and "God Damned Explosions." Giant battleship enemy punches me and Bishop with ludicrously sized rocket fist. Roll to dodge. I score a crit, we avoid the fist so well that we continue our momentum and our next melee move gets a damage boost. Next it fires 100 missiles at Cedric and Bianca. 77 are on a path to hit. Their newly combined mecha "God Damned Explosions" has missile reserves of 300 total. They fire ALL OF THEM. Out of all 300, only 18 miss. Not only do they intercept the enemy's missiles, but they also completely tear off all its armor. Finally, me and Bishop finish with a thruster-assisted, already sanic-speed punch through the chest. ...did I mention our combined mecha has guns on its fists? We shootpunch through it at sonic speed.
That about wraps it up.
That about wraps it up.
You totally forgot to mention the super crit missile that completely wrecked that guy's shit. I managed to crit like, 4 times in a row with that one missile, which blew off all of his armor in one shot. :eng101:

second Coastlines and Kaiju playtest went well. Probably not the strangest things that's happened in a Denny's. I'll toss up an AAR when I'm more conscious. The system matures apace. http://pastebin.com/K5Kd6ZmE
So my DM is allowing me to get one magic item in D&D. It can be whatever I want from any book, or something that I can think of. Anyone got ideas for something hilariously game-breaking?
