If any of you guys enjoy playing games based on DnD, gog.com is having a deal where the more games you buy (DnD based) the greater the discount, there's ten games in total which would usually cost above 100 dollars together and you can get them all for 21 dollars (DRM free in case you don't know gog).
Games are: Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition, Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete Edition, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale Complete, Icewind Dale II Complete, Baldur's Gate The Original Saga, Baldur's Gate II Complete, D&D Dragonshard, Forgotten Realms Demon Stone and The Temple of Elemental Evil.
Snapped them all up.
Just a heads up, even though the Metaserver's down the multiplayer for NWN2 isn't dead, you just need to find out the server IPs some other way.
Oh damn, I never knew they had Betrayal at Krondor on GOG. Man they really do have the good old games; I need to search this site a bit more thoroughly someday.

Fuck it, bought the NWN series again. I forgot that it's DRM free on GOG and I'd rather not have to deal with the bullshit of NWN1 not wanting to install again.
Confirming that I'm going to be running an Eclipse Phase session and accepting players.
A brief summary is that it's a trans-humanist PnP RPG that takes place in the future after most of humanity and Earth was destroyed by a group of AI which have now mysteriously vanished, the TITANs. Common themes of this game revolve around conspiracy, horror, and existentialism. This system is really good for making stories which make you think and make sure your decisions count.
The sessions will be based on the EST timezone and can occur any day of the week dependent on the players and their schedules. The sessions will begin the week of April 21 after all of my exams have been completed.
Everyone who is interested in attending, even those who have already talked to me over steam, please PM me with some basic information in the following form. After I've narrowed down the player base to the most compatible group of people (timezone and schedule-wise) then I'll determine what kind of campaign we'll be going for.
Example:
I've found it incredibly difficult to get people organized properly without a unified way of inputting information so excuse me for the OCD but filling this out would really help me out and determine which people I should get in the session.
We'll probably play over roll20 and use on VOIP program of some sort to communicate.
Thanks, can't wait to get started!

Wish I was compatible for this but I live in Australia so..
Organizing college freshmen to play D&D is one of the most mindracking things I've ever done in my life.
We still haven't finished a full campaign, and I highly doubt we'll get to finish our first battle before semester ends. Everyone's either too busy, bails, or doesn't quite pay attention during gameplay (usually a mixture of all three in the more problematic players).
I don't even bother preparing for campaign when we schedule games, since they almost never come together. And we have a pool of at least 7 - 11 players.
That's too many people.
Well we use a pool system, since we know any given Friday we will never have 7 - 11 people that can meet at once. I basically just ask people if they want to play, they say yes, I try to pick out a date/time for the semester that works for everyone, and we try to play with as many people as we can within a reasonable time.
But the most we had at any given time was like 4. I would get 2 other players with me if I was lucky, but even then it was pretty hard to do after we finished our character creation sessions. There's just no drive to come out and play, I suppose.

I think you need to get other people then, such disinterest will undoubtedly sour a campaign.
I think you need to get other people then, such disinterest will undoubtedly sour a campaign.
Yeah, I think that's the big problem too. I remember I started the campaign with a simple kobold encounter, but all they wanted to do was kill each other. I was able to string everything together and convince them not to do that, but it's like they don't really care about taking it seriously.
So yeah, I'm branching out more towards other friends and I think I might just stop inviting some players who are more there to hang out than to play. Luckily, I had 3 players that were willing to take it seriously, so we at least have a good start and I can probably get a group of 4 or 5 regulars tops.
[editline]6th April 2013[/editline]
Still, it sucks planning out your campaign nights in advance only to have a.) people too lazy to show up (literally one of my friends didn't show up cause she just likes to cancel plans) and b.) no one appreciate the DM's work and just shit all over the game.

Yeah, that sounds like it sucks. All I can suggest is you keep your DM planning stuff on ice until you have a chance to go through it properly with another group maybe.

roll20 is pretty neat if you want to get an online game going
Seems like the hardest part of DnD is just finding cool people.

Pretty much.
That and finding a DM.

Yeah. A lot of times they don't mean to either, but it's just not the proper build for a good D&D game. It looks like I might be able to round together some dedicated friends though, so I'll keep my hopes up.
On a lighter note, I actually did use roll20 in a semi-serious game of CoC with some online friends. it was very, very fun. Plus it's very good for new DMs who need to reference back a lot. I'm going to continue to use roll20 for Cyberpunk 2020 and CoC; I liked it a lot!

But so true, yeah.

Does this GM happen to be related to me in any way?
He sounds like my long lost twin brother.

A long-lost twin brither, eh? Sounds very comic book-y. No wonder you were so good at running Mutants & Masterminds, you're practically a comic book character yourself!

Oh man i got Neverwinter Nights 2 on the sale but i got too hyped for dnd games and pre-ordered shadowrun returns too
oh noooo
If any of you are tempted to look up some character builds for your newly acquired NWN2, just remember that half of the supposed "powerbuilds" done by the community got wrecked by a baseline pure fighter build, including the infamous Kaze no Kama which is in itself one of the Power-gameyiest builds I've seen.
powergaming is for fagets anyway.
how does one find a group to play with
i live in a shitty town that doesn't have have anything of interest.
there are no game shops there is no nothing
my only hope lies on online groups but i don't even know where to start with that.
I've just started really getting into this, i'm reading the PHB cover to cover right now
I've got character sheets and stuff like that
but it's all pointless when you have no one to do it with.

Have you tried that? Scroll down and put in your zip code. Also I have my first REAL game in about 2 hours, is there anything I need? I'll buy dice there. Someone mentioned a pencil but I would think they can pass out pencils.

Bring a pencil(s) anyway. Better to be prepared in the event they don't provide them.
and a good eraser.
Don't want to ruin your sheet by using using a shitty eraser.

Pink is the best colour.
Oh and I had to sharpen it with a knife. It looks like a fucked up mountain.

I just tried this. There are no D&D games within like 500km of me. :(
Like 100,000 magic games though.
