Watching Samurai Jack on netflix has been giving me so many ideas for mini adventures or encounters based on some of the episodes.
Tower with master archers on the top, players have to figure out how to get to the tower without becoming a pincushion, then fight their way up.
Warrior gets cursed by a wizard, turned into a giant rock monster. Wants an honorable death so he can reach the afterlife.
Big greatsword wielding, kilt wearing bridge guardian keeps the PCs from crossing.

Samurai Jack is just filled with pure Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Hybrid encounter/story material.
Each episode is unique, I loved it when I was a kid.

Mine are cheap plastic white-on-red things. But they're mine, and my first. Also not taken them out of the packet out of fear of losing them.

OK, I finally got Pathfinder, and I already have some stories to share.
You might remember me from a few weeks back, when I was asking about which one to get into. I settled on Pathfinder, but only got it today (just the beginner box, nothing special).
I'm actually starting with a family game; might find some people more my age once I'm comfortable with the rules. I'll be DMing, everyone else in the family is playing.
My father is the only one with prior experience, and he hasn't played since AD&D. He got rid of all his books and figures (unfortunately), but he kept his dice, including a twenty-sided D10 he gold-plated himself and a near-full set of bronze-coated dice (likewise done by himself, when he worked at a chemical company with electroplating kit). And for his character, he brought back his old Dwarven Fighter, Thavius.
Yeah, that's gotta be some massive nostalgia for him right there.

I wish nicer sets didn't have the d10 with the 00, 10, 20 etc.
I can add a 0 by myself, thanks. Rather have another copy of one of the other dice, or just a cheaper set in general.
I'm pretty sure the d10 with the extra 0s is meant to be for d100 rolls, so you roll it with the normal d10 for 1-100.

If you can't roll twice and remember the first result, you have a problem. The majority of players will never roll a 1d100 in a campaign. DMs will every so often, so that means it's somewhat useful to 1/5th of people.
I'd rather have an extra 1d4, 1d6 or 1d8. I roll those a hell of a lot more than I will ever roll 1d100.

Debate of dice usefulness. Interesting, I gave away a bag of my dice to my brother when his DnD stuff was stolen from him.
Though I did eventually get some new ones that are pretty cool. One is black base color with red, green, and blue speckles on it with blue numbers. And a larger than average d20 with an ivory color base, and a greenish tint at the edges. I don't know why, but I love dice.
I'm waiting on a set to arrive, the pouch I got with them for free arrived this morning.

What kind of game were you hoping of spectating? Any system in particular? Because IIRC people here play all kinds of systems not just D&D.
I'd argue this should become the Tabletop gaming thread but then all those Warhammer losers would come sniffing around.

I think it's mostly D&D and Pathfinder in here, but there was a group of guys playing one of the 40k games that got together in here, and a CoC group, too.
I'd suggest calling it Pen and Paper general if not for losing the oppertunity for all those D&D joke titles.
