Storytime of last night's Exalted session: Everyone woke up in the inn and had donuts, then made their way to the manse, where Shaper took it upon himself to be as dramatic as possible about revealing that he owned it. While they were all inside, one of them heard a woman screaming from the south, and two of them left to check it out. They found a pale woman, cloaked in black, cutting the throat of a peasant, with a small pile of corpses next to her, and a group of shackled slaves sitting behind her. She subtly revealed that she was trying to create a shadowland over one of the dragonlines powering the manse, so as to corrupt it. Meanwhile, Cloud climbed up a tree in full stealth mode, then swung down on a vine and impaled the woman on it. After she spoke her last words, "I regret nothing," Prince cut her head off. Then they argued for a few minutes about what to do with the corpses, before Prince and Wolf dug a few graves well out of the way of the dragonlines, and they freed the slaves. After that, Shaper had his manse prepare a feast for the slaves, and the whole circle had a hot-springs episode in a sauna within the manse. After a bit, the manse alerted Shaper to someone approaching from the east, and he went to check it out. It was a courier, with a letter from Vulture telling them to return to Nexus once they were done. And so they did, where he congratulated them on saving the manse, while mentioning that they were less incompetent than he had thought. He then took them down the road a ways, to a slightly larger townhouse, with one of these things hanging on the door. Inside was a group of 6 people, bowing before another, larger sun ornament thing. Vulture introduced them as the Cult of the Illuminated, and told the circle that this house would serve as their home and training facility for the time being, before giving them a few days to get used to the arrangement and relax after the shit with the manse. When they were ready, he gave them a new task: To find an artifact he believes to be somewhere in the city, probably in one of the buildings left from Hollow.

Planning an upcoming Pathfinder game after AdEva finishes (and we're getting close to the end game, it all keeps tumbling down etc) and I've promised myself I'll remember to make use of Appraise, the Lore skills and all the other neglected skills in that system.
So as a small little christmas gift I'm buying all my players their own set of dice. That part was easy, but the store I ordered from was charging $5 for a dice bag. "Fuck that noise", I thought, "I'm sure I can find them for like $1 at a craft store". Well, I couldn't find any good dice-sized bags at the craft store. Closest thing I found were some tiny gift bags in the bridal section, and they were pink and sequined. But I found something better: Small wood boxes in assorted styles They're like $1-$2 each, and they look pretty awesome for a fantasy-game setting. I'm not sure if I'll paint them myself or keep them plain (for the players to paint if they so desire). Probably leave them plain, because I forgot to buy any paint or shit. Even a larger one only cost $3. You could probably get some padding and use one for miniatures as well, which could be quite useful.

That will make them look much nicer than that wood color, and they can still paint them if they want. My family has a bunch of wood staining stuff in our garage, you could see if you have a can laying around. Other than that, some paper towels are all you need.

I can't be the only person who thinks that it is bullshit that I have to get Savage Worlds and Deadlands: Reloaded separately. I just wanna fucking play Deadlands without it being a logistical nightmare.
D&D gets really silly past level 11. I love it.
Wish my party members were close enough for that. :c
Awww. Are they closer to Boston? In any case, no reason we can't make a new group. I'll even DM.
D&D gets really silly past level 11. I love it.
Of course. That's when you get disintegrate. What do you mean, you don't play a wizard? Heathen!
I'm not a wizard, but I did indeed get disintegrate. Also legend lore, which is very useful when trying to figure out how ancient time machines work.
My D&D group has had a nice thing happen. We're all still pretty new, as this is our second campaign together, and the campaigns are pretty short (but take forever to get through as we all seem to like the role-play side) and I just found that one of the other members of the group just posted something about it on /tg/.
My group is pretty new to D&D, but we've had a blast so far, as everybody seems to be pretty good at handling their characters and general role-playing. However, our last session ended on a note that I do not know how to react to. We have a LG Cleric of Pelor, who is basically Solaire 2.0, down to the sun on his shield and chest piece. His name is Illuminaire. >BBEG turns out to be a shapeshifter, changes mid battle and causes Illuminaire to retreat screaming. >BBEG gets killed by a barrage of crossbow bolts over the next few rounds, Illuminaire is healing everybody and defending the wizard and archer >Once the BBEG drops, orcs surrender. It'd be good to mention that we're currently on top of a huge tower that has a huge burning signal fire in the middle. This was being used to lure ships in to a dangerous coast. The Cleric, who has been a brilliant guy within the party due to his good, friendly nature and his healing ability, then does this. >Asks who is the highest rank orc remaining >Orc commander speaks up, says he regrets helping kill so many innocents >Cleric senses motive, rolls a 20 and finds that the orc genuinely feels regret about his involvement. >Silent for a few moments, Illuminaire kicks him in to the burning signal fire. >Illuminaire clutches his holy symbol and says "May the flames of Pelor cleanse your soul, so that you may be judged for the crimes you have committed" then prays quietly. I don't know how I should feel. Is this a bad development? Good? (Insert reply of "It's Neither. It's BEST DEVELOPMENT.") What is best development? I think I'm shocked because, for the most part, the Cleric has been pretty peaceful and polite. He had a bluff of +10, which is double that of our thief, as well as quite a bit of investment in to diplomacy and the various knowledge subjects. From what I have gathered from his actions, and not having read the backstory he gave the DM, he's a bit like Alistair from Dragon Age. Raised in the church, not really caring for the teachings and getting by on bluffing his way through. He took a liking to Pelor at some point for reasons I do not know, and the whole "Pelor's symbol on my chest and shield" makes same believe he's somewhat fanatical in his beliefs. But he hasn't been aggressive. He hasn't pushed his ideology on anybody, and has been an all around nice guy. Given, we hadn't had somebody who contributed to the death of dozens of ships full of people at our mercy before, but it took me completely off guard. I'd have called bullshit OOC or made light of it, but the little speech he gave in character about purging his soul and cleansing him for judgement was pretty fucking rad. Then he did some silent prayers to Pelor asking him to forgive him in case it was not his will for the commander to have been punished. We've never played D&D or anything similar up until a few months ago, and the two campaigns we've done have been really small (still took us a while to get through, as a single combat encounter could take upwards of an hour)
There was one reply (for now) that stood out.
Orc is executed by cleric of Pelor. Despite his evil deeds he is truly regretful at the end. His soul descends through the darkness to the abyss, claws of orc war gods tearing away his memories. Screams of pain, his own, and fading memories of war and loss are his only companions. Suddenly, a beam of blinding light. The claws retreat, screaming. The orc's soul is healed, lifted gently through dark smoke tendrils. Slowly the black mist clears, finally dissipating. He finds himself in a mountain valley, surrounded by huge trees, above them blue skies. Gray clouds slowly pass in gentle winds, almost entirely hiding the glare of the sun. Fat, huge, horned sheep-things roam the meadows blow, bleating at each other. Suddenly a spear lands at his feet, and a fur-clad orc standing next to him nods. "Pick up the spear, brother, we must hunt. The females wait back at the cavern, the babes wail in hunger". And the orc picks up the spear. He smiles, a toothy, hesitant grin, and joins the eternal hunt with his blood brothers. Above them the wise sun shines, driving away the clawed madness that awaits below.
gg. I am so glad I found this group.
Wow that's pretty awesome, so far in one of my groups our monk has decided he will not use his hands nor feet, only his face, he will only head-butt things. Last session he head-butted a giant spider in the ass DM decided he would now have giant spider hairs stuck in his face after it. Not as awesome as the story above however.
Alas, zin908 can't be my groups dm anymore, if anyone has some free time, me and my group are doing 3.5, just shoot me a message. our group already has all their characters made n whatnot. the dm has been overflowed with school work and other life things. Edit: also we're using roll20 for the board and then mythweavers to create our spreadsheets.
