I'd be down for a game. CaptainHijinks just messaged me about playing as well. I've played and DM'd before. I'm really busy so if I end up DMing I couldn't do more than every other week. I only have experience/books with 2nd ed and a little 3.5. Also some experience with World of Darkness and Shadowrun, just to throw that out of.
I am also down for a game if it's at the right time, and stuff.
I would need guidance because I've never played.
Anyone else remember the awesome Lone Wolf CYOA book series? Well a long while back I found this site that has them all online (with permission) to play. I decided to play the series over again today and discovered (somehow missing it previously) this self contained program created to play the series and automate the games systems. It's pretty awesome and I recommenced giving it a try if you're into fantasy and want to read an interesting interactive story that goes a bit beyond the simple Choose Your Own Adventure formula.
Not directly related to D&D but thought I'd share it anyway.

Holy shit I remember having the first one of these.

I'm beginning to wonder if a FPnP Steam Group would be the way to go. It could be used to recruit people for games and post reminders of upcoming sessions.
[editline]10th April 2013[/editline]
I also saw this on /tg/ and thought it was funny.

An FPPnP group would be a really easy way to get in contact with GMs about upcoming games, hear about games that are going on, and stay in touch apart from the there like in the group chat room.

I am legitimately interested in DMing for a open world DND game. Anyone interested? Not sure what version or anything like that yet, just gauging people's reactions.
D&D is really damn interesting, but I don't think I'd be up for it. Reading all those cool stories I can't help but to think that I'd probably have no sense of humour and I'd be just a really boring playmate.

You just need to play a couple of games to get used to how to act with your group.
Some groups are serious, others just have fun.
You shouldn't stop yourself from trying it because you think you'd be a boring player.
My first game, I was a boring cleric, but over time I worked my in and got into the groove of how to play.
Now in my current game, I'm a half orc that takes no shit from no one and tosses goblins into walls. My group had to talk me out of body slamming a demonic imp into a spike pit. A pit I had to climb out of minutes before. Everyone had a good time, so all's good.
I'm no longer in any games besides the one I'm developing with xxfalconxx. I'm up for playing in pretty much anything.

Sounds good to me.
my group (specifically the barbarian and the warlock) once decided to smash two rotting zombies together and then they got INSIDE the resulting mess and used it as a meat mech
the DM came up with meat mech rules for the next session and we ended up using it for the rest of that adventure
so yeah, my group is entirely based around having fun and there's a very small amount of RP involved :v:

Yeah then theres that, I have no friends who play D&D, and I think it would be awkward to play with total strangers.

Yea maybe, but here you are talking to total strangers. Why not ask to watch one of the games that come together through Facepunch?
Or find a local game store and see if they have public games.
You will miss out on quite some fun.

I may or may not be interested in playing. It'd depend on time, but that is something that can be discussed easily.

yeah we already tried this, it died within a month.
I don't get the two-handed weapon bonus rule in pathfinder. It says apply 1-1/2 times your strength bonus to damage when you attack two-handed, but I don't understand what they mean by 1-1/2.
Do they mean 1 minus 1 half times your strength bonus, or 1 to 1 half times your strength bonus, or (1-1/2) times your strength bonus? pls to help

Say your strength bonus to damage is 2, wielding a one-handed weapon two-handed would make that damage bonus 3, the regular 2 plus half of that number which is 1.
Quick check on my Pathfinder game:
I'm planning the city my players return to after facing their first dungeon (the one in the Beginner Box - after that I'll start original stuff). I'd like them to be able to buy some slightly-better weapons, but anything in the book is too pricey (and presumably overpowered). They'll still be level one (quest gives 750XP each), and probably have 500-700GP each, max.
I specced out a couple weapons they could buy, do they seem reasonable?
Goblinslayer Battleaxe (150GP) - if attacking a goblin, gets +1 to hit and uses 1d10 instead of 1d8 for damage
Bonecrusher Longsword (130GP) - +1d3 to hit against skeletons (may change weapon type - one of the fighters hasn't picked his equipment yet, I'll match this to his primary focus)
Heavy Throwing Axe (60GP) - 1 in 4 chance (get 4 on 1d4) of inflicting Stagger on hit
How do those sound? Too overpowered for level one? Too cheap? Too expensive? Am I worrying about this too much?
So this is why the thread stopped showing up in my subscriptions. Thanks for the link DiscoInferno.

i'm up for it. i'd suggest 3.5 as it's the best detail-wise and difficulty wise.
it has enough info in the book to deal with almost anything. you won't die constantly but there's enough of a challenge to keep it from cakewalking.

I'd definitely be interested in playing as well.

3.5 or pathfinder are both good.
Depends on the day(s) and time, i might be able to play and if i could i probably would
I'd be up for it too. Warning, i have only played a couple of times before.
Count me as a maybe, depends on times and if the currently dying game I already said yes to resurrects or not.

i think this post applies to almost everyone who browse this thread.
I'm up for a game if you aren't full. I know mostly Pathfinder, but if you're running 3.5 I figure I could work that out pretty simply. I see that more people have already asked ahead of me though, so I'm just throwing out to anyone planning on running a game that I'm up for it if you need a player.
I'm up for it as well, provided it's at a decent date.

The main differences between 3.5 and PF is some skill rearrangement, combat maneuver score not being in 3.5 and some class rebalancing.
Alright, since there actually is a good amount of interest I've decided to DM a game. As for dates probably Friday, Saturday or Sunday, as for both of them I can do this pretty much all day for both of them. If there are a large group of players from the EU interested this would likely mean the time would be around morning to noon EST on those days and it can be somewhat convenient for people in different timezones. So for now just everyone who is interested PM the times you can be available on those days and I'll look through them all for something that will work.
As for the system I'm leaning towards Pathfinder, but want to look at some more obscure systems and such as well first. Just know that I'm coming up with my own background for the world rather than using PF's Golarion.
Consider me potentially interested in the Sunday slot. American hyah.
