Probably GURPS if you wanna be super rulesy, or Savage Worlds if you wanna tweak the base rules.
you could also do pirate shit like that in Shadowrun although then there would be magic 'n shit
Is anyone going to be starting a session of anything in EU time? I'd like to join any game.
you could also do pirate shit like that in Shadowrun although then there would be magic 'n shit
Probably, but then you'd have super awesome cybertech shit and stuff, this should be gritty as fuck, with the best thing them getting would be like maybe a nice boat.
It's a wonderful feeling. It's really good to hear that from players as well, "I like this game for two reasons: I like the game, and I like the players." Hard to have one without the other.
I've been in a game where there were 2. The GM and another player. I left that game.
I've been in a game where there were 2. The GM and another player. I left that game.
Was he a "step into my magical realm" kind of GM?
Was he a "step into my magical realm" kind of GM?
He was the guy who killed my character for following the big bad through a portal. Just like straight up killed, after we finished the fight with the person meant to stop us he went. "Oh by the way you're dead". No warning except that.

1st session of a lvl 2 campaign: We talk to a bunch of dwarves and agree to go kill a small dragon that has been stealing gold and such. We get there, wreck the young dragon because there is seven of us. Continue on towards its cave to get loot. Find CR 13 Adult Blue Dragon sleeping in the cave. DM must have forgotten about coup de grace, because instead of trying to bypass it, I just walked up and killed it instantly because rogue.
What's a that guy? I have a feeling one of the people I play with is one.
that guy is the person who plays outlandishly, crazily and generally unhelpfully to the party.
Oh never mind, then. I have the opposite of a that guy. He had such little interest, he stopped in the middle of the BBEG fight to read stuff about pokemon on his phone :v:

That guy is the guy who doesn't cooperate with the rest of the party. Either he does nothing, like yours, tries to go off and do his own thing alone, or tries to do the exact opposite of what the party is doing just to be a shithead.
Fuck it, I'm gonna make a Somali Pirate RPG. I'm thinking about having a stat system similar to Warhammer RP, I think that works best.
Have you guys ever been in a group with no "that guys"? I'm currently GM'ing that game. It's beautiful.
I only ever GM with my small group of friends, so I nearly never run into that issue except for at school or when my friend runs large LARPs.
I want to play a game where the group plays as a group of pirates. But not like, swashbuckling pirates. Somali Pirates.
Just hope you don't run into Tom Hanks. Or Bruce Willis.

O.K. On the topic of my main group (many of which are now playing magical girls): Appy is running magical girls and played as a hard rocker in Cyberpunk who stood by and watched in *every fight* MeltingData suggested my character was going to fuck his adopted daughter Wing almost cut off the head of some dude with a switchblade Ciaster is reading the Anarchist's Cookbook as we speak (and got it from Melting) And Ryan is, well, Ryan It's gotten to the point where not only am I the straight man, all of my CHARACTERS are the straight men and end up being the focus of the plot because everyone else is batshit nuts :V

Entropy killed a lot of people. Brynes was just a lame generic copdude. Don't go dissin' Entropy. He was cool.
i accidentally invited a that guy to our rp and i feel ashamed

good job
..so I'm not the only one who feels it? Whew, didn't want to be a jackass and say something. [editline]19th January 2014[/editline]
could be pretty cool but not a lot of systems would really fit for it
Haha, Apoc world would fit it. Like all of that is super do-able.
This discussion leaves me wondering if I end up being "that guy" on accident... :tinfoil:
are you suggesting that loving explosions is something abnormal Nerts, help me out here bro
Explosions are awesome.
Explosions are awesome.
Leave it to nerts to keep it real.
But always be mindful of how much you're using, half a dozen 40mm HE grenades is over-zealous for breaching a wall.
But always be mindful of how much you're using, half a dozen 40mm HE grenades is over-zealous for breaching a wall.
Only if you don't have another 6 dozen on hand.
Explosions are awesome.
yea, that's my man  [editline]20th January 2014[/editline]
But always be mindful of how much you're using, half a dozen 40mm HE grenades is over-zealous for breaching a wall.
but one is just fine for breaching a team member :v:
Only if you don't have another 6 dozen on hand.
My starting gear for that game included about 150 40mm grenades of different types, about 30 handgrenades, 5 flashpacks and 4kg of plastic explosives, plus two VTOL drones, one with a sniper rifle and one with a grenade launcher and a superbike modded to shit and back (Worth more than about half the rest of the party's gear combined)
yea, that's my man  [editline]20th January 2014[/editline] but one is just fine for breaching a team member :v:
Completely accidental :v:
but one is just fine for breaching a team member :v:
Next time someone gets exploded in any game I'm in, I'm going to say he got Breached.
What's a that guy? I have a feeling one of the people I play with is one.
The purest definition of "That Guy" is someone who is a part of the group and who derives fun from acts that no one else finds fun. They're generally disruptive and awkward but it depends entirely on the party dynamic. That's why you'll receive a whole bunch of different definitions from different people, it's purely subjective. A group made up entirely of what you'd refer to as "That guy"s doesn't have "that guy" in because they're all doing stuff that they enjoy and everyone is having a good time. To add onto this, a GM that often finds themselves at odds with their players, is unpopular and gets into an antagonistic relationship with their players is often referred to as "That GM". Note this doesn't apply if the players WANT an antagonistic GM. [editline]20th January 2014[/editline] I'm only being verbose because the term gets thrown around a lot inappropriately, like "Mary Sue".

Same with "that GM". Sometimes a GM will be trying to run a serious game but the players don't give a fuck and so his views are tossed out the window. [editline]19th January 2014[/editline] Also, some people misinterperet Mary Sue. A Mary Sue is basically a character with no/minimal flaws or nothing special about themselves but can do everything right. Like an "ace" but with zero personality.

Are you on board for Ryan's rerun?
