Fallout, or Shadowrun? I can't remember who ran the Shadowrun game.
The purest definition of "That Guy" is someone who is a part of the group and who derives fun from acts that no one else finds fun. They're generally disruptive and awkward but it depends entirely on the party dynamic. That's why you'll receive a whole bunch of different definitions from different people, it's purely subjective. A group made up entirely of what you'd refer to as "That guy"s doesn't have "that guy" in because they're all doing stuff that they enjoy and everyone is having a good time. To add onto this, a GM that often finds themselves at odds with their players, is unpopular and gets into an antagonistic relationship with their players is often referred to as "That GM". Note this doesn't apply if the players WANT an antagonistic GM. [editline]20th January 2014[/editline] I'm only being verbose because the term gets thrown around a lot inappropriately, like "Mary Sue".
My office PF+40K campaign is 100% That Guys. We've got the surrealist game-breaker, the GM's-plans-foiler, the psychopath, the powergamer, the always-bailing-out-of-games-at-the-last-minute guy, and myself as GM. Somehow we all balance each other out, and it barely seems like we have a That Guy at all. Closest one would be the testicle thief, and even he's started changing his ways.
Fallout, or Shadowrun? I can't remember who ran the Shadowrun game.
Yeah, Fallout. He rewrote the whole campaign apparently, for this summer IIRC.
The always-bailing-out-of-games-at-the-last-minute-guy is the biggest dickhead ever. I'd prefer an obnoxious kender to THAT guy.
Except he's the only one who plays "properly", and when he is there he grounds the group in reality. Besides, I've made a rule that I play the character of anyone who doesn't show up for a regularly-scheduled game, but they don't get any XP or loot. That can really hurt them, and it keeps the games going.
O.K. On the topic of my main group (many of which are now playing magical girls): Appy is running magical girls and played as a hard rocker in Cyberpunk who stood by and watched in *every fight* MeltingData suggested my character was going to fuck his adopted daughter Wing almost cut off the head of some dude with a switchblade Ciaster is reading the Anarchist's Cookbook as we speak (and got it from Melting) And Ryan is, well, Ryan It's gotten to the point where not only am I the straight man, all of my CHARACTERS are the straight men and end up being the focus of the plot because everyone else is batshit nuts :V

What the fuck are you on Did you miss the countless times I oneshot enemies with my ridiculous pistol skills or when I taped together HE, flash, incendiary and smoke grenades and threw the bundle. Entropy killed a lot of people. Brynes was just a lame generic copdude. Don't go dissin' Entropy. He was cool.
I'll join Appy here and say, hey, and what the fuck did I do? :v: Yes my internet shit out in the middle of MB today, but I generally try not to be a shithead with timing and planning and such. Mekton is going great so far, I would say, and so would the party, and no signs of things going bad there, and MB is a lot of fun. Ciaster and Melting are reading it to do weapons and explosives for the Fallout PNP (Which they are rebalancing and will be used this summer, when I have time to redo the Chicago PNP, since I will admit that fell to shit because I was terrible with notes then. Since then, I have gone full OCD mode and folders upon folders of them organized.) So yes, while things are a bit weird, the group is still doing just perfectly. We're like one, big, dysfunctional family. Who like giant robots and magical girls.
So I kicked the That Guy out of my game. He proceeded to rage at all the other players who were online and remove us all from his friends list, then come in to the mumble we use and bitch about us to the owner for some reason.
OK, I hadn't posted about it here due to FP's general aversion to anime, but seeing as someone else is also talking about a Magical Burst game, I'll talk about mine. We started playing the game with our current characters about 7 months ago using FATE, but subsequently switched to Magical Burst about 4 months ago after realizing that not only is FATE incredibly difficult to use for most things and kind of boring, but also that Magical Burst is way better (fallout is sick and changes are sweet, also the overcharge system leads to hilarious and awesome fights). Now, we're playing a slightly-altered version of Magical Burst in the world of a popular /tg/ quest thread called Magical Girl Noir Quest, full of incredibly stupid (but awesome) crossovers, and plenty of cool worldbuilding elements (like Magical Girls being affiliated with "Officios" in different regions, each controlled by an Incubator/Tsukiama). Of course, with awesome settings and systems, come hilariously cluttered and damaged Roll20 stages, so... [thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3965132/shit%20past%201013/seshionstuff/sessionscreen1.png[/thumb] We also have an artist in our group who likes to draw events and characters, so here are our characters: [thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3965132/shit%20past%201013/seshionstuff/thegang.png[/thumb] From left to right: Kumiko Ishimaru: A scheming, plotting ice queen who tends to antagonize the rest of her group with her plans that normally only benefit herself. Power: Memory alteration. Rika Tsukiumi: A drunkard, a womanizer, and a pretty decent shot, Rika is one of the three ranged girls in the group (the others being Kumiko and Akari). She's generally cool-headed, but sometimes flies off the handle. Power: Camouflage. Akari Risuka: The youngest of the group, she's a zealot of "truth" and "justice". She tends to be rather flustered when around the others. Power: Healing. Kawazoe Michiyo: A crack shot and the mediator of the group, she tries to hold everything together, but it's a hard job. She's helplessly head-over-heels for Ayumu, for some reason. Power: Clones. Ayumu Koroda: The oldest of the group, and the one who's been a magical girl for the longest time. Totally off her rocker and probably a danger to everyone. Power: Terrifying presence. I might write up the next session I do, so rate optimistic if you would read that, I suppose.
The other guys are playing it mostly as a joke, I think. Nice drawings though. Although I think I may be the only guy in this thread who isn't a weeaboo, so maybe it's just me.

I'll play fuckin' FATAL if I have to to get into a tabletop RPG.
Well, that character is probably doomed now. We played tonight, and we unraveled a big plot where some Phoenix shugenja summoned an Oni and give it her name and shit. Long story short, we killed the Oni. So afterwards Kitsuki investigators arrive and interrogate everybody about what happened. My friends all lied and said it was a big disease thing. I didn't. Our GM is actually a lawyer IRL, and I have social anxiety. So basically I got manipulated by an actual lawyer into telling him the truth and the Phoenix are saying I'm full of shit. It's not really looking good for me, and I feel bad that I squealed everything to the police. TL;DR: I told the truth, and now I'm probably going to die for it. RIP Yoritomo Kazuma, The Mountain that Moves, and Slayer of Oni. http://i.imgur.com/17pKQdl.jpg
My character survived somehow! So, a member of the Imperial family was sent to settle the dispute. I had completely forgotten that I have the Ally advantage. I have an ally in the Imperial family, and they bailed me out of the whole thing. I'm lucky that the GM remembered this. Turns out that spending a day as the Yojimbo of an Imperial who basically started shit to watch you fight, and then being a lucky bastard and winning the resulting duel to the death has it's advantages. (pun totally intended)
So I picked up, I think, a second edition adventure book for my group. We're playing 3.5 at the moment so I've had to convert alot of the monsters and such to fit with the rules. The fucking traps are insane, 2nd edition doesn't give you time to breathe. One of the traps was a room which has a pitfall with spikes at the bottom, 5ft in width. About 30ft away is another pitfall, 5ft in width again. However inbetween these two pits the floor is 100% frictionless. If you fall into the pit you take d12 damage (which is probably alot in 2nd ed) and also contract "super tetanus" which kills you in 2-5 turns like wat

Well, now the super awesome Wenesday game is no longer happening, or at least it's happening at a reduced rate of awesome. One player can't make it because school is starting up, another left because he felt his expectations of the game clashed with the other players. No more trip to Denny's, no more grim dark Tonin the Ranger, no more Ali-Baba the stoner genie. Now it's just the boring necromancer, me playing as the maid gun Mage, and a catfolk wizard. I think the DM is gonna find more players but fuck, man. I'm gonna miss the other two players. I mean it's not like I'm good friends with one of them and am in his game he runs on Sundays but details.
..so I'm not the only one who feels it? Whew, didn't want to be a jackass and say something.
yeah he's pretty terrible somehow even worse than me

I won't be the only guy in here taking time out of his day to extensively talk about magical girl shenanigans! We also played with the Magical Burst rules a bit and homebrewed in some stuff of our own. For example, I made up rules for oblivion seed absorption, which makes you lose an oblivion seed but gain ludicrous temporary buffs in the process. I'm actually working on a system that if you push yourself too hard (like, waaaaay too hard. Venting overcharge on a regular basis [like they all do]) then there's a chance you can turn into a youma. And hell, since you did it, I might as well too. Might clear things up for the idiots who actually read the summaries anyway :v: Our party, as drawn by Data (click for bigger): [t]http://i.imgur.com/BmiyJTg.png[/t]
Left to right: Sarah Salem: A girl thrown out of her original time period by her sister's wish after her village was attacked by the youma/demons. She's pretty cold, enjoys poking things with her billhook, and is a budding young kleptomaniac! Sort of the grounding wire of the party, I'd say, since she doesn't seem to give any fucks. She can't recall anything about the past and has amnesia about the whole ordeal. She doesn't even know she's in the future! Her wish is to recall her past. Almost dies on a regular basis. Magical Element: Time. Power: Ludicrous speed. Satoya Taji: A necromancer catgirl (nekomancer, as she calls it), Satoya enjoys long naps in the park, stealing lion cubs from zoos, and being a general pain in the ass to any and all. Her brother has terminal cancer, and after a little magical mishap courtesy of Satoya, he can no longer die! So now he's interred in the hospital to live his painful and undying life as a sentient cancer colony, always and forevermore in agonizing pain. Her wish is to end her brother's suffering. Occasionally crippled with bouts of horrible pain. Magical Element: Life. Power: The ability to create regions of Nightmare. Eve Ishi: A timid young girl whose only friend before the whole magic ordeal was an extremely hyperactive future lesbian, Eve enjoyed spending her time at the retirement home where her grandmother lived before it was destroyed and everyone in it died. She's still absolutely terrified of social contact, but at least she has more friends now. Her wish is to bring back the retirement home and everyone in it. Because she had a cold when she got her magic, she is always going to feel sick for the rest of her life. Magical Element: Luck. Power: Healing. Eri Motai: A poor girl whose family lives in poverty, Eri does all she can to help out both at home, and in the magical world. With her sword she will smite the unjust! or something like that. Not very social, and with a smile that would make the Grinch cringe, she's trying to improve. Always ready to protect her friends. Her wish is to make her family not so poor. She's morally confused. Magical Element: Ionizing Radiation. Power: Detect Alignment.
I have no idea why I described them like they were on some dating show but I think it's funny so I'm leaving it that way.
