Results of the most recent Mekton battle.
Perseus's mecha is just a head and a torso.
Takumi's is just a head.
Bishop is intact except for some chipped armor and a missing wing, also got an amazing crit kill on the boss.

you wouldn't even let Perseus' and Takumi's mechas combine after that 0/10

Sheesh, you don't usually see systems where high rolls are fails.
roll under systems are fucking hilarious, especially when people are used to d20 systems.
"TWENTY FUCK YEAH, WHAT DO I GET"
"you critically fail and lop off your own head"
"WHAT?!"
I personally like d00 systems more than d20. Partly just because knowing your target number and having that number you rolled be what actually decides whether you succeed or not feels better than rolling a d20 with no idea what the DC is, then adding your skill mods and shit, and having your success be determined by the roll, your skill mods, and the DC.
I'm wording this weird but basically I just like percentile dice more than d20.
[editline]26th January 2014[/editline]
Although I gotta say if I had to rank the types of systems I've used I'd probably put dice pool systems that count successes at the top. You can never have too many d10s. :v:
d20 is basically percentile rounded down to the nearest 5.
you wouldn't even let Perseus' and Takumi's mechas combine after that 0/10
Between you two, the only working parts you had were two heads and a torso. And you were already combined, you can't just keep throwing giant robots together. At least not yet.

i really like dice pool systems too, for the most part atleast
im in a naruto game that uses dice pools, where lower is better, and when you reach the maximum rank, every single roll except 10 is an automatic success
it's pretty ridiculous how many successes you usually get at high levels

Hey, what's the point of having high cool if you can't use it to put your heads together?

Unless you keep rolling fucking 10s.

you may be ridiculously op but I still roll better
My wizard who dislikes necromancy and enchantments got a flesh golem following him around now after he answered a stupidly simple question.
I'm currently thinking of abandoning the dungeon as the current challenge is too risky since I don't have spells prepared for it or have any points in jump.

This looks great
but I want to be able to make my own classes and shit, it's gonna be absolutely useless if you have to use preset classes and stats
Doesn't look like it'll be funded to me
They said at the bottom, they will be making it whether or not it gets funded.
If they make it fully open source I can see some great things coming from it.
Should've done something like indiegogo then. At least they'd get to keep the donations, no?
The Fey section of the Pathfinder Beastiary is awesome and it is a shame that you don't see them more often in campaigns.
There's one that's like a skinless horse and rider that have fused together
Hey guys. I'm looking for two more people to join a Dungeon World (http://www.dungeon-world.com/) campaign that I'm going to be GMing at some point, not sure how regular it will be, maybe every two weeks - i'd have to see how well it goes. The idea of Dungeon World is that it's more easy and accessible to newer players, and requires a lot of creative input, not really any number-crunching involved. Not very mechanic driven at all.
Timezone for the players is GMT. So unless there's anyone outside Europe who is nocturnal I don't imagine it'd suit you too well.
Add me on steam if you want to know more (http://steamcommunity.com/id/Baggerbean)
Alright, here's how the Somali RPG is going, right now I have the names for skills.
Hit for WS, Shoot for BS, Muscles for S, Tough for T, Quick for Ag, Clever for Int, Sense for Per, Grit for WP, and Talk for Fel.
Current Talents are "Faster, to it's limits!" which allows you to double the speed of the boat in exchange for 1/4 of it's structural integrity, "Water does not phase me!" which allows you to ignore the penalties from hoses and turbulent waters, "No one gets hurt" allows you to use Sense to spot any lies that your hostages tell you, and "I'm the captain now" allows you to temporarily assume control of the ship with Talk test.

Calling players
I've been pretty much shoved into a "manager" position for both of these games that I mentioned, because the DMs are lazy/want to focus on game prep or something.
The first game will be a fairly grounded low magic low fantasy setting, all humans, homebrew d20. Text-only as far as I'm aware.
The other one is something I've wanted to do for a while (though it so happens I'm not the one who's gonna run it) wherein all of the PCs are children or adolescents. Minor things like big rats become a serious threat, and a single town guard would be powerful enough to make a boss NPC, that kind of thing. Everything goes small scale, and you gotta be clever because you're not a party of big strong heroes. I'm very excited for this one, so I'm hoping for a strong group to play it! It will be text and mic, run on 4th ed with some small modifications (yes I know boo hoo 4th edition is so shitty, it's not my preference either but the system doesn't make the game so whatever). I believe we're looking for all humans for this one too, although the setting itself will be a bit more high fantasy I think.
All up I think we need at least four players to fill both games, maybe five. If you're interested shoot me a PM and give me as much info as you can about yourself so that I can pass it to each DM, E.G. MuffinZerg's post was nice and emphatic:
You would be my hero for life if you did.
I have played a variety of games (fantasy, cyberpunk and gangster themed), but all in amateur systems. I have never tried the original DnD or any similar systems because I shamelessly didn't want to dive into the rules and people around me didn't want either. The reason for amateur systems was that we wanted to focus on storytelling as we could only have one session (meeting rarely). This way we had to save as much time as we could.
However I am willing to try anything if it means fun.
As for the play style I rarely play as combat types as I find it pretty boring. I am more into finding witty solutions and creating obscure plans (I tried to kill Kastro by sniping him from a hovering in a baloon 2 kms away from Kastro's mansion and that almost worked!).
Setting wise I most enjoy anything with a Machiavellian/postmodernism vibe to it. Cruel worlds, manipulative politicians, all that buzz. Think The Witcher, Deus Ex. I can barely stand cartoonish fables, settings with clear black vs white conflicts (generic evil vs good drives me mad because I keep trying to explain it in my head and CAN'T).
Real life wise I am in Russia, GMT+3 (Moscow time). I can be online nearly all the time up until 10th of February.
Newbies are welcome if you're eager to learn and keen to roleplay. Times haven't been decided yet, and will depend on who's playing probably.
So I've always been kind of interested in DnD but never really knew where to start. Should I just go to a local gaming store and find a group? Are there places I could play online?
you can probably find a campaign on roll20.
i'm sure there's someone in this thread who's looking for new players.
you can get games like knights of the old republic and neverwinter nights/baldur's gate to get a feel for the system, since the former is based on a d20 system and the latter is a literal translation of the forgotten realm's lore into a vidya game.
Currently playing 3.5 with two different groups where I'm the GM and running the same campaign (The Shackled City Adventure Path by Paizo) with both of them and already from the beginning they went in completely seperate directions. One managed to end up inside an gnome enclave, hiding from the city guard because they robbed a locksmith and attacked the city guard.
This is my first times DM'ing and I must admit that I quite enjoy it over being part of the players. Having to come up with content on the spot is very interesting, since the PC's never do what you expect to and come up with some pretty deep theories to explain the riddles that you give them.

What's everyone using for a virtual table here? I'm wanting to run a one person campaign for my girlfriend and I've never done it virtually (Don't want to buy a bunch of stuff when she might not like it.)

I use Roll20. Maptools is another option and it can be a very powerful and flexible platform but its ugly as sin and its only really very good if you know what you're doing.

As an aside for other people here; if you decide to use Maptools, and are going to be playing fantasy themed games, then I highly recommend you use Nerps Maptool. In addition use the Dungeon Builder 2 campaign file to easily create random dungeons using the standard high quality tile sets (which Maptools natively supports downloading now). It also automatically generates the vision blocking layers, which is the real time saver if you want to use dynamic vision.
As an example this is a previous dungeon I made using it (forgive the compression, it was the only way I could get the image small enough to upload anywhere):

And a shot of the vision blocking layer:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/bMS0cmr.jpg[/t]
It takes all of a few minutes to properly create the dungeon and dress it. Provided you have your own image sets, of course.
I love it when things come together to make you seem like a mastermind GM.
My players were aboard the space hulk, wrecking shit, when they come across an alien, a tau, this tau is nice, and threatens the players not in the slightest, and he decides to accompany the players.
Eventually, they travel through a portal into the chambers of the most powerful dark eldar in the galaxy, currently waging war against the tau. So, as the other players are discussing whether or not to kill the archon, the tau opens fire, causing everyone else to open fire and leave his body riddled with las marks and pulse rounds. They leave and return to the space hulk.
At the end of the session, my players come across a Lord of Change, who invites the players to join him in a chess match. Here I figure out that the guards finding the archon with human and tau rounds in him is not a good thing, so I figure out the Lord of Change's plans.
Start a war, pitting all of the dark eldar in the galaxy against (a small section of) the humans and the tau.
Let the games begin.
